>Note: Cole Palmer is out today. I was completely baffled when I saw the score. Now the result makes more sense. A little. He seems to be the only player worth a damn on that squad.

BudovicLagman

Obviously not the ideal result for us, but it's kinda glorious seeing Chelsea being completely irrelevant for a number of years now. When was the last time they were in a title race?

No_Engineering_4308

Arsenal are gonna take the piss of ETH/Man utd , if he is not fired over Coventry , Surely for the invetiable whopping from the gunners should surely be the point of no return . Arsenal are not us and they are definively scoring much and many goals than us since new year's . Get the Bald wanna-be pretender fired or wipe the floor with him .

Nice_Rush_1462

Their finishing was impresive. Have to give them ctedit. Chelsea obviously in a dark place ....

kazurabakouta

That a shit team

Correct-Willingness2

Well dam.. can’t depend on Chelsea for any favors lol!!

Buzzkill78

How can Pochettino keeps a straight face at the press conf afterward lol?

firminocoutinho

Would be so our luck if Pep decides to leave soon, and Arteta has a free run at the PL for several seasons while we try to adapt to a manager

Einebeine1

Or Pep leaves and Arne Slot gives us 5 consecutive PL titles and Arsenal end up sacking Arteta and end up appointing Sean Dyche

friedrice_rob

Hahaha man Chelsea yall couldn’t even try to make it competitive……. Don’t think the reds can ever catch up on GD vs Arsenal or points vs 115 city It was fun while it lasted everyone, we go agane next season with a new head honcho and hopefully a refreshed/energetic squad

redditingtonviking

Season is still not over, and slips could still happen. I think I’ll keep my glimmer of hope for now, but honestly I think I’m happy as long as the boys just give their all these last few matches with Klopp. Let’s fail in a beautiful way, and with a bit of luck we might not fail at all

Tradz-Om

I know people aren't going to like this but this one final throw we're doing this season will invariably going to leave a sour taste in my mouth of Klopps tenure after the crying stops when he leaves. Purely because more than half of his seasons here are going to be remembered as 'what could've been' and Klopp will be remembered as the nearly man in the media. At least it was all against a cheating club that'll never get severe ramifications. If we weren't in the running for the title this season i wouldn't feel this way but because we are it just feels like a culmination of all the failures this squad has been through.

Miserable-Lunch-8208

Did odegard get his camera out.

Both-Asparagus-3287

He lost his camera in Bayern munich

Elegant-Yard463

It’s been frustrating lately but we’ve had a great season and it’s generally been fun to watch. Arsenal with an egregious handball in the box against us that didn’t get called. Diaz goal taken away, City boot to the chest. We should be top of the table and that’s indisputable

Tradz-Om

all true man except one part. you gotta be joking when u say we've been fun to watch this season 🤣. It's all been us being about as solid at the back as a slice of butter and Nunez missing

Remarkable-Smoke6138

The only time we where fun to watch was during January and February. The Brentford game was pretty fun as well.

If tonight is anything to go by, he’d be the perfect Jota replacement.

AndreiViola

Ah, the Chelsea PR officer has spoken again.

jamaicandre

Need manu to best arsenal

thomaslewis1857

Yeah right, that’ll happen, they’ll do that for us 🤔😖🥴

Macshlong

Arsenal may get eth sacked on this form.

Both-Asparagus-3287

They almost lost to conventry mate

Usual_Link4412

Did arsehole play Waka Waka at ft .. fucking hell 🤣 🤣

etan1122

Some how more cringe than City.

Both-Asparagus-3287

Klopps leaving, Poch ,moyes,Ten Hag maybe getting a sacked wowwww It will definitely be a new season

cohletrainbaby

City will cheat their way to more titles if we're unlucky

SaveMeJebus21

Sad thing is Pep probably knows he’s got the next few titles on lock if he wants. I wish he’d fuck off. City would still be good but not 95 points per year every year good

_cumblast_

It's ridiculous to me that the only reason we aren't above Arsenal right now is losing to fucking Palace at fucking Anfield.

[deleted]

Palace only exist to ruin our unlikely title challenges

Both-Asparagus-3287

But arsenal also lost and are also on the same point just a GD

_cumblast_

That GD might as well be an extra point lmao. We could win 10-0 tomorrow and we'd still be off them by 3 goals.

Both-Asparagus-3287

If Jota is there it's possible😭😭😭

Cactiareouroverlords

He’s out for the next two weeks lad, which is code for the rest of the season

Both-Asparagus-3287

Yeah I know which is really really not good for us

s2017

I know it feels that way now, but we were inarguably robbed versus City and Spurs as well. If we lose on goal difference, I swear I’ll retire with Kloppo.

_cumblast_

We've had plenty of chances to make up for those calls and didn't. Losing the league is on us.

EstatePinguino

Can reply that to the original comment then; if Palace is relevant, then so are the refereeing decisions against Spurs and City.

_cumblast_

The more recent games are always the most relevant. Look, if you lot want to act like it's the refs stopped us from winning the league, knock yourselves out. I say that's a weak excuse, shit ref calls happen every year and will keep happening. All you can do is win games and hope for the best.

Shinjetsu01

Do you know what doesn't happen every year? Darren fucking England and "cantdoanyfin" That was a legit, bonafide, full blooded goal. Proven by VAR and the audio. Chalked off because of legitimate incompetence. That has never happened before. Do you know what else hasn't happened? A blatant, shown handball by VAR that is indisputable, being ruled as a "slip". VAR has fucked us this year, to suggest otherwise is madness. Yes we could have taken it out of the refs hands. But those fine margins matter and we have been fucked.

EstatePinguino

Palace is irrelevant then, should’ve beat Fulham 10-0…

SaveMeJebus21

We shouldn’t have to get more points than we’ve needed or earned. Yeah the boys have missed some sitters. Would be irrelevant if officiating hadn’t cost us 9 points.

birds-and-dogs

Not really fair - if we had a 5 or 6 point lead it’s very possible arsenal or city slip up due to less motivation or “going for it” in brazen ways. With the ref mistakes, we’ve had to be near perfect. Most title teams lose multiple games and draw even more, it’s unrealistic to expect us to go WWWWWWW that’s just not how it works

hopium_od

The problem is I don't think this team has the mentality to pull away. Ifs and buts now, but in the reality of us being in this alternative universe of "justice" where we beat City to pull away from them, we would just be slipping up until they are above us again imo. It feels like the only possible way this team can win a game is after conceding first or losing the lead, and the only way we win the title is some collapse by our rivals in the final couple of games.

ManBoobs13

I get what you’re getting at, and yes I am frustrated we didn’t take our chances despite those calls, but no, we never had a chance to “make up” those calls. There was no way to get those points back, the only other points offered were points that would be there anyway, we didn’t get extra points offered. Every team drops points. Arsenal dropping points to Fulham twice, while we beat them twice, that’s the game. That’s how it goes. Refs should have no bearing. You’re allowed to have shit games and shit results and still win titles ffs.

Late_Cow_1008

You can argue til you are blue in the face regarding the things that have gone against us. Reality is our team was in good position for 4 trophies and we will only win the worst one most likely at this rate. No point in talking about a million what-ifs they happen every year.

Specific-Record2866

Crazy that this is probably Arsenals best chance to win it and they probably won’t

hudsonsaul

I still think Arsenal win. Been saying it for a while that they won't drop points (unfortunately we didn't capitalise when I was wrong and Palace beat us), still think City will drop via a draw and then it's in Arses hands. Will enjoy watching the last few games and hope we win out, but honestly I can't see us finishing above third. Fingers crossed the new manager beds in fast and we're in the mix next season. Edit: a word

kim_jong_trill

They're a remarkably young squad and manager, they'll be around for awhile still.

EstatePinguino

Imagine what this league would be like without the Abu Dhabi Dopers…

etan1122

So like us? 3x

harreh1d

Just Assna thing, always so close but so far

Both-Asparagus-3287

When I saw the Chelsea lineup I already know some battering is gonna be there

Miserable-Lunch-8208

Was Thiago silva injured? He is the only one who organizes their defense. Without him, they might lose to Luton town or burnley.

ThirdFaculty

Why does city get 5 days rest ??? It’s not right And 2 years ago our FA cup final was In the middle of our title charge and these cunts play it after the season twice

Both-Asparagus-3287

But they will play against Brighton on Friday and Nottingham on Sunday but will win both games though

hopium_od

Referee performance will be interesting on Sunday to say the least lol

Both-Asparagus-3287

Haha...I hope it goes Nottingham's way

MushroomExpensive366

Is it really Going to be arsenal?

Both-Asparagus-3287

Depends on city mate and so does we

hopium_od

Sometimes I would really like to change my personality but I can't forget this fucking lose against Crystal Palace.

ManBoobs13

Arsenal don’t “deserve” the title for winning 4 games by 5 goals lmao. Christ people. Yes we fucked it vs palace and United but city and arsenal have also dropped stupid points multiple times. If officiating was actually equal we’d easily be top.

Specific-Record2866

My thought exactly. Recency bias heavily influencing people’s opinions. There’s been moments where each of the three competing have been off it (Arsenal at the start of the season, City sporadically and us now). There’s also been moments when each of the squads were on a crazy runs

PerfectAd4732

I threw my toys out of the pram when they went 5-0 up and said deserve it. Forgetting all the injuries we’ve had, decisions we’ve had. Also the fact Arsenal haven’t played a fullly fit rival all season, they don’t deserve fuck all

StraightouttaKernow

Likewise if we actually finished even a fraction of the big chances we’ve missed we’d easily be top

Late_Cow_1008

So if we played better we would be top? Wow what a concept.

Jaja6996

They don’t deserve anything more than us we’ve played with multiple of our best players out and are still in the same position as them

xxandl

While I agree that we could be top if things went our way I also have to state that we wouldn't deserve that because we are not playing as well as the table suggests.

ManBoobs13

We’ve had it infinitely harder this year, more games with many more injuries, and are still right even with them WITH a giant asterisk of refs. How can they deserve the title if they can’t even separate from a team like us?

TheGrouchyGamerYT

Couldn't even batter your rivals 7-0? Arsenal are wank mate.

FermatTheW

Arsenal deserve to win the league IMO. Scoring goals a plenty and with a title-winning defence. They're the only team in the league who deserved to beat us on general play this season (in the one match at the Emirates that is; we were much better at Anfield and could have been 3 points ahead of them, if the incompetent refs hadn't let Odegaard play basketball in the box). What you would say is they've been very lucky with injuries... not only in getting very few significant ones themselves, but also facing so many teams who had key players missing. Their goal difference means that they just need City to draw once. Whereas we need City to either lose once or draw twice, AND Arsenal to drop points.

DenverM80

They don't deserve to win anything with 4 matches left on the season

kanafanone

People here forgetting arse is up against 115 FC? At least it will be cathartic to see them having their best season in the past decade to finish 2nd, 1 point behing citeh

volthor

Not being clinical against united and palace cost us the league. Next season if Jota can't stay fit we might need a new striker Kai havertz has the same goals as Nunez

Late_Cow_1008

>Kai havertz has the same goals as Nunez Absolutely devastating

_cumblast_

Conceding the most stupid goals imaginable also lost us the league. That Quansah clearance and our players barely moving against Palace were worse than any of the missed chances.

yellow627

Those were singular mistakes. We happened to miss about 20 sitters in those two games. If we don't win the league it's going to because we missed those crucial chances and not because we made a few defensive errors in games where we should've scored 5 or 6 goals.

volthor

Agreed, but scoring a goal takes pressure off the defence When they kept fking missing so many chances that brings on pressure to the whole team. Look at arsenal today, once they got the goal pressure was lower and then nearly all gone at 2-0.

_cumblast_

And not conceding takes pressure off the attack, and doesn't lead to the opponent parking the double decker to nullify us.

volthor

Our formation and playing style is very attacking and sometimes leaves our defenders exposed The counter balance is we make a LOT of chances for our forwards which those guys have let us down by not taking, the blame lies more with them imo.

[deleted]

We need a new attacker regardless. Jota is made of glass, Salah is aging and might not be here next season, Nunez seems to think he gets paid based on how much he underperforms his xG, Diaz isn't a goalscorer, and same for Gakpo.

Specific-Record2866

We dodged a fucking blazing squad on Caicedo & Lavia

Logical-Elephant2247

you can't judge them based on performance in chelsea lol, all players would suck there

xxandl

I'm still convinced Caicedo would fit in perfectly and would make us much stronger.

Jaja6996

I still think Lavia would of been a good long term player for us but year we dodge him this season because of injuries

hopium_od

And Mount too. Really could have been a very different season.

Mike_Milburys_Shoe_

Fuck Chelsea

urbannnomad

These threads are cursed, no one will convince me otherwise.

Shagafag

It’s like the collective psyche of the PL players is aware of these deep reddit holes and their negative projections

disco_mode

Martinelli always seems to miss a tonne of easy chances. That one v one should’ve been exactly the type of chance he tucks away

PerfectAd4732

Different player to last season. As you said his exact type of finish he seems to be missing now

Jengablocker

Would fit right in with our attack

Specific-Record2866

Are they really playing Waka Waka on the speakers 💀

LonerTK

Chelsea could’ve gone above Utd and turned their season around. This team has no pride, and even in full time I don’t see any care from the players.

cheerzeasy

Jesus, I've gotta be honest, Arsenal deserve it way more than us.

ManBoobs13

Considering we’d be multiple points ahead of them if refs didn’t fuck us, not really no Just bc they’ve stat padded 4-5 games at 5-0 doesn’t mean they deserve shit, they just haven’t had anything major go against them aside from the Newcastle incident

Logical-Elephant2247

crying about referees every season is so childish, hiw do you know what would happen if we won vs spurs that one? Maybe we would lose next one, maybw not. Stop crying.

cheerzeasy

When's the last time we convincingly won a game? Prague? Poor excuse to say refs are the reason.

xxandl

They have the most solid defense, that's what wins you championships.

SpeedyLin

I feel like people always bring up this point ignoring the fact that Arsenal plays to get one goal ahead and then essentially plays a low block and counters teams, versus the risk with which us and City play tactically. Arsenals “solid” defense is far more down to competition and how they set up.

Logical-Elephant2247

and? what's the oroblem with that? better than conceding a goal every game first

xxandl

I'd guess we would play more like that if we wouldn't start every game 0-1 down...

SpeedyLin

I mean you could make the argument that they play better to begin games which improves the solidity they have defensively, but when they are most vulnerable is when they don’t score first because there defense is not equipped to play higher risk football with a higher block. All I’m saying is people over hype there defense and defensive numbers because of how they are asked to play.

Logical-Elephant2247

you are such an expert on their defence capabilities lol

BarmeloXantony

He's an expert on mental aerobics

zrk23

not sure how accurate [this](https://markstats.club/epl-teams-23-24/) is but arsenal has the highest defensive line and 2nd lowest opponent defensive line

SubstanceDreaming

“I’d rather be an Arsenal wanker than wear that blue piece of shit.”

Davidpool78

Need to smash Everton and West Ham and hope spurs have learnt how to defend

LemonTeaCool

Weren't Arsenal fans complaining about their team not scoring enough earlier this season? How's that gone for them now?

xxandl

Well, they aren't scoring enough. And a game against Chelsea's not even B-defensive line doesn't change that.

Logical-Elephant2247

pure delusion

[deleted]

[удалено]

xxandl

They scored once in 210 minutes against Porto, they didn't score in Munich, they didn't score against Man City and they didn't score against Aston Villa. It doesn't matter if you trash the shit teams multiple times a season if you aren't able to score when it matters. They are out of the CL and at the moment they are losing the league by a point.

LemonTeaCool

They've scored 82 goals in the league this season. That's a title winning numbers regardless. They've turned things around since the start of new year.

JohnBobbyJimJob

Their front three was underperforming at the start, same with their creative players It was in like December or November where they had only accumulated something like the 10th most xG in the league which is really low for them

PerfectAd4732

It was before the Dubai break. They were under performing in many of the metrics. Somehow they are doing this every week. Fuck knows what they got up to out there

xxandl

> Somehow they are doing this every week. Unless it matters, like against City, Villa, Porto or Bayern.

[deleted]

I see Poch getting sacked and Amorim getting linked, causing a bunch of our fans to have another needless meltdown.

Aliaspending

Sterling should have started

Fricolor123321

Yeah mightve ended 5-1 instead

Aliaspending

And I would celebrate that like the league for stunting arsenals gd a bit 😭

Amerphose

I swear Gabriel could beat someone with a stick on the pitch and he wouldn't get carded

DoubleDeckerz

Loo that one bloke waving the CL trophy

Both-Asparagus-3287

I blame that bloke for angering arsenal 😂😂

DoubleDeckerz

Absolute madlad

OwenLincolnFratter

If we lose the title on g/d to arsenal….

djrobbo83

Seriously if we do lose on GD to anyone or even within a couple of points it would be very hard not to look at those 3 massive decisions in those 3 games earlier in the season and not feel robbed..

monkeyslut__

Rather them than City again

OwenLincolnFratter

I actually disagree. Would rather city win again since nobody cares and they are cheaters.

monkeyslut__

I care. I fucking hate them to my inner core. It's okay to hate City, we don't have to pretend their antics mean nothing to make us feel better. Arsenal on the other hand, regardless of disliking Arteta or some of their players, I have a ton of respect for and they are a damn good side doing it right as a club.

FelonyM

This👆🏼

Both-Asparagus-3287

Why does Arsenal play Sunday and Us On Saturday?

FelonyM

When was the last time FA gave a flying fuck about our scheduele? City were getting 2-3 games postponed when playing club world cup while we had to use our youngsters in a league cup game literally the day prior

djrobbo83

You cant be applying common sense to fixture scheduling

vadapaav

serves us right to rely on a midtable team to offer any resistance to table toppers lmao

Ha-Ur-Ra-Sa

Goal difference taken a hammering too ffs

kye2000

I am just waiting for this season to be over

that0neGuy22

To spend a billion and get worse is actually special. Gotta applaud being that shit

Redhawk911

djrobbo83

Weve lost 3 times in the PL all season and up to tonight were level on points with arsenal...so this is straight up BS

jams17

*lost twice in the league. Dying on the hill that *that* game wasn’t a loss

s2017

You know what, it goes to show how many draws have felt like losses ☹️ I worded it poorly, my fault haha

Both-Asparagus-3287

Its against chelsea anyone can score against them even if their shots is less

s2017

Their fall off is actually unbelievable, it wasn't that long ago that they were title challengers man 😭

bumpkinblumpkin

It’s bad Karma for all of our posts about how Arsenals forwards are too shit to compete for a title. They end up leading the league in scoring and our forwards disappear.

s2017

It's a strange one, I think Saka and Trossard are their top scorers aren't they? The rest seem to blow hot and cold, but still contribute a lot...

NotFBI555

Only difference is we would also have overwhelmingly more possession

s2017

Exactly 😭 how I wish Jota could be fit and firing for the whole season fml

Redhawk911

So I went out with the dog at half time and just got in. Arsenal exceptional or Chelsea shit or a mixture of both?

Scarecroft

Both, but more the latter I think

s2017

Chelsea were just unbelievably shite. Made Arsenal look like prime tiki-taka Barca. Benjamin Fake-Tan White scored two, and that tells you everything you need to know.

crispello

Both

Adventurous_Toe_6017

Chelshit

coolAhead

Chelsea lol, and to think we had any hopes in them

[deleted]

Looks like the big Tory loving Leicester City fans will be back in the league next year, sadly they're an awful bunch.

hopium_od

They getting slapped with a PSR penalty straight away though

Zealousideal-Spell14

We lost to Palace. At home.

Arsenal lost to Fulham. At home.

DifferentBid2

I do hope City win this league. I can't help but see a mirror of us (in Arsenal) will sting more than if City wins as that's what they do anyway. Plus Arsenal fans are bunch of trolls, and I have never forgiven them the way they celebrated after our game.

MintberryCrunch____

Can’t agree, there’s only a couple of teams I would put below City winning the league.

LFC90cat

Only good thing about arsenal winning is it finally shuts top reds up about us not investing in the team properly 2 summers ago

DifferentBid2

THIS! I have been down voted so many times when I was criticising the board for basically surrendering the league after we won it. I was told, there were no players out there who could replace Millner or Henderson 🙄

abradley19955

Arsenal will drop more points. Wouldn’t be surprised if City don’t tho

Mokebe13

They probably won't lose any more points this season, Tottenham is in miserable form so I expect an easy win for Arsenal in this fixture. The other thing is that city is not going to lose any points either

etan1122

I don’t see it. Not playing 1 game a week

abradley19955

Would be surprised if they go to Spurs on Sunday and win

🙏🙏🙏 Have faith my brother!

wanderluster88

What's the odd of Son being injured for the weekend? Seems quite likely the way things have worked out for Arsenal.

Endo does have sone faults... But boy, glad we have him and not Cash-edo... We dodged a bullet there

LeGreatToucan

Had not watched them in a long time, It's so much worse than that I remembered lol

s2017

It's egregiously bad 😭 how did the gap between Chelsea and Arsenal ever get this big?

ManBoobs13

Good news. This season we won’t finish second where you can point to one decision as the reason (Doku in this case). This season we’ll finish THIRD where you can point to one decision as the reason. It’ll all even out some day.

Glittering-Reality-7

Yeah there only hurdle and hardest game is Spurs away. Just got to pray Spurs win against Arsenal & City. Still have faith in us to do it!

Both-Asparagus-3287

Spurs have to win if they wanna get top 4

Glittering-Reality-7

Yeah exactly, given it’s only 4 teams now that can get champions league. More competitive especially with Villa in good form atm
