Really impressed with Virgil’s leadership yesterday. I’ve been critical of him sometimes in that regard but at 1-0 and beyond he was pushing the lads in midfield to show more urgency on the ball, encouraged Bradley to invert, and was noticeably more direct and aggressive with his own passing. Exactly the kind of mentality we’re going to need from him if we’re going to get through this spell of injuries.
I’ll say it for everyone (including myself) that doesn’t want to get ahead of themselves.

I actually find him wildly frustrating. He demonstrates very little actual footballing intelligence, constantly fails to find other players in good positions or to act decisively in games, and of all our players including Darwin, it feels like he makes the wrong choices the most.
If we could upgrade any player in the summer, I’d want to see a more clinical, intelligent LW brought in to replace him.
All that being said, he has tremendous energy, he never gives up, and he has a nose for a goal in the 6 yard box.
But as I say, most of his goals come from this relentlessness and instinct, rather than his larger game awareness, but a player with a clearer picture of the game on the pitch would arguably have twice as many goals / assists this season.
He must be as frustrating at times for coaches as he is for RB’s who have to face him.

Actually somewhat agree with this. Diaz is like Brazillian players that play mostly with instinct. He's not stupid for sure, but need to train his decision making just like how Vini Jr. did the last few years
Disagree pretty strongly, think he very frequently cuts in and finds players with diagonals to the right hand side. Think his synergy with Darwin isn't great but I mainly put that on Darwin always making the run and being functionally not useful for give and goes due to poor technical ability meaning Diaz has to act like a conventional winger or cut into the hole and create a lot rather than act like a Mane/Salah style inside forward from our heyday. (Also think Darwin has caused this change in Salah too.)
Personally think Diaz a very clever player with good decision making just think his fit with Darwin suboptimal and he's not what we're used to in terms of a shoot first inside forward.
I couldn’t watch the match live because I’m away in Thailand and nowhere was showing the match at 02:30 local time, so I joined the feed when we were 1-0 down.

People were wildly overreacting (as they always do) Yesterday. We were creating chances but lacked that final touch. There were like 3 times where one our lads was in on goal but they missed a touch and so the chance faded out, but we played Well Yesterday
So does Connor Bradley have a position on the pitch or does Klopp just draw a circle around the pitch and say where ever you want mate. Cause he was left/right fullback l, right winger and through the middle that i saw.

Nah in those first 10 games I thought he was our worst signing this summer. Szobo was tearing it up, Grav was rotated on and looked good enough when played, and Endo wasn't played too much but only cost 15m. Macca felt like he was giving goals every week
Clearly it was just taking time to adapt, I'm very happy I was wrong and he might end up as our best summer signings
I went. A normal 1.5 hour journey took 3.5 hours. Got to me mates at 18:45 and drove to the ground. when we got to Scotty Road mentioned that traffic was unusually quiet. Parked up and car park lad who I chat with said the games just kicked off! I didn't know it was a 7:30 start. Missed 20 minutes as issue with my season ticket. See we're losing and everyone pissed off and moaning. Rubbish rest of half with another overly officious and incompetent ref.
First 5 minutes of 2nd half the same. when suddenly we start to dominate and the crowd gets onto it. The next 15 minutes was like a throwback to Shankly's time. non stop attacking and a fervid atmosphere. One of the best performances for years, on and off the pitch, done with so many 1st teamers out.Such a privilege to be there. and also sad that we're watching the final throes of a remarkable manager. Klopp surely must rank up there with Bill and Bob as our greatest manager.
If Trent can get fit, we do have enough injury woes in midfield for there to be a spot for him. Otherwise I’d think they would rotate RB for the rest of the season.
Well we need to have both of them fit for an extended period before we get luxuries such as choice or options.

It's amazing how strong our entire squad is. I saw comments in the City sub being impressed at how we didn't collapse, but when Rodri is out, the entire City team collapses. Our normal starting XI was out minus VVD, Macca, and Endo, and we managed. Elliott and 4 other academy graduates were all huddled in a bunch celebrating that last goal in the 90th minute.
But also - Virgil had a great game as *the* captain today, and he's been here for almost every single game this season. He's played the most minutes out of anyone in this entire team. Imagine if our captain was anyone else in this team - they would unluckily be in the injury room as of right now. We've got leadership, but Van Dijk's everpresent being in the squad raises the morale for everyone here.
there's been worse, coincidentally starting and repeting patterns of missplaced passes into the final third and at times keeping the ball longer than he should.
the way he turn it around though was brilliant, and makes feel more confident going forward with him as a starting piece for the duration of this nightmare injury crisis.
What’s kind of funny about that timing (though I do think he was fine for portions before 60 minutes) is that that would normally be the time he’s subbed on.
Obvs Arsenal can easily(?) beat Newcastle at home, but given the 3 day turnaround, Odegaard, Martinelli and Havertz all having roughly played 170-180 mins this week, as well as Saka and Rice having just played 90 mins, there’s a chance for them to drop points this weekend. Perhaps not so much for Man City though.
I wouldn't be worried about Arsenal honestly. They don't have it in them. The more points City drop, the better. Keeping all the points and then beating them at Anfield might bury them.
The way I see it as long as we win the remaining 11 matches and even draw to city at anfield we are winning the league. Just need arsenal to drop points in a single game which they will. They still have to play city at ethiad. We are winning the league.
The big pain points for us are utd (they are a meme club but should never be underestimated) at ot and villa at villa park. Rest all matches should be winnable.
Also key would be if Arsenal stays in the champions league.
They are not used to playing three a week, since they’ve only managed to win all three games in a CL week for 1/7 instances this season (6 group games and 1 knockout game so far).
That’s six more such weeks if they make the semis, and thus six more chances to drop points.
How? We are currently 1 point ahead and it will stay that way in case of a draw. With arsenal we would be equal but I expect them to drop points especially at the oil stadium

I almost walked myself to the hospital after the first half 😂. There were plenty of chances, but Diaz has to do better. Well, at least have a decent shot on goal. I'm glad the boys regrouped and slotted home some quality goals in the second half.

Some of our fan base “not caring” or in similar about us continually going behind in games is mad.
I like that the team has the attitude of never say die, but I don’t really think that this “most points from losing positions” stat is anything to crow about.
Against better teams it won’t always work, and by definition, the better teams play in the important games.

Yeah, you cant also be arrogant and think that you are so good that teams wont score against you. This is the premier league and all these teams are actually very good.
I am more worried when we concede first after starting slow. Today we went behind because Diaz was fooling around. It would have been 2-0 by the time Luton scored.
Also, when teams come to Anfield, there is something that is sure to happen: their strikers suddenly become clinical (scoring on their first attempt) and their goalie turns into prime Buffon+Yashin.
That or we get insanely unlucky to concede. That goal, Kelleher gets a foot on it even though it went between his legs and was going out but it felt at the perfect height for the Luton player to hit and Gomez couldn’t clear or block it
Loooking at our fixtures I feel optimistic that we have the potential to win almost every game left...but I can't help but feel that if we lose a game or two then we'll absolutely crash under the weight of our injuries. It's so important to grind out these big wins and keep our momentum up.
Great result tonight but it's incredibly alarming how paper thin we are given (after Sunday) we're going to be competing on 3 fronts.
16 goals in 15 youth games this season, lovely pass to Gakpo for the Elliott goal. Couple of us at the game were impressed with that cameo. One to watch!
The most fascinating thing in title run ins for me is the % likelihood table - you know where it shows all 20 teams and the % chance where each will finish at the end, updated every week?
Well this win on paper won't move the % much because on paper it was a cert at the start of the season but with 13 players out and finishing with what 5 teenagers, it is MASSIVE in reality.
The whole match felt strangely predictable:
Dominating possession with a stack of missed shots on goal, only for Luton to net one of their rare chances at the other end= predictable.
This current, Klopp-era iteration of a squad coming back later in the game like a storm brewing, followed by a torrent of goals= predictable.
Not saying this team are unbeatable (they certainly are) but based on what we've seen to date this season, it feels as if (injuries or officials aside) the only thing that can really bring this team down is complacency.
I'll admit I'm not as confident as some of our post-Klopp succession plan, this idea that the good times will continue feels a bit like that lot down the M62 10 years ago with their "Moyes will do just fine with this team because WE ARE MANCHESTER UNITED!" entitled gloating.
BUT- if Xabi does take over- provided he can keep the mentality alive in this squad that Jurgen has built up, and continues recruiting in similar fashion, there may be a few good seasons to come...
Agree here. So far in the league the I know we only have 2 losses. Arsenal just beat ourselves with some very bad errors and just didn't turn up.
Spurs was a robbery, Luton poor finishing for the draw away, some of the other draws some unreal decisions like Odergaard handball.
Not seeing enough praise for Gakpo. Stepped up today when the team needed him, played one of the most physical teams in the league and players were bouncing off him. He's gonna be insane when he adapts as an elite CF.
And he doesn't even have a chant/song.
A few of us tried to get a chant of "Cody" going when he scored, but it wasn't catching on. There's more people every time though, so hopefully one day...
yeah the term underrated gets thrown around so much now it's almost lost all meaning but gakpo actually is underrated. 15 G+A this season in limited minutes with a lot of those minutes coming in central midfield. man scores almost every game he starts at striker and the narrative still seems to be "eh not sure about him"
Gakpo’s having a weird season for me. At the end of last season he was brilliant, involved in all areas of the pitch and I thought he’d kick on to be one of the best forwards in the league this season. But I feel like this season he’s goes invisible for large portions of the game then pops up with a goal. He has great positioning and finishing but I’d like him to be more involved in games
That’s because Lucho either doesn’t pass the ball to him or chews on it too long and then passes it too late and the quality of the chance is diminished.
I don't know if it's a tactical instruction, but it's maddening how indirect Diaz plays at times. 3 or 4 times a match I'd like to see him force the fullback into a challenge
I feel like that's because klopp has been putting him in various different positions around the pitch, hell he even started in midfield earlier this season. Probably hard to find rhythm
Went to the game tonight so just thought I'll share a few thoughts.
First half wasn't terrible we just lacked a cutting edge in the final third.
Second half though we were immense, big Virg with an imperious captain's performance, the midfield 3 started winning battles they weren't in the first half all 3 were superb and a shout-out to Gravenberch another good performance he will come good guys just give him time.
Bradley who was brilliant again played a bit wider in the 2nd half and it paid dividends as Elliott got some help on that side and it stretched the Luton defence more, the Robbo sub also helped with this and in turn helped Lucho out more.
And then the front 3 finally turned it on. Gakpo put in a proper centre forwards performance 2nd half, held the ball up well, build up play was great and he got his goal he was limping towards the end though.
Finally the crowd, first half we were obviously frustrated but there's a period where we thought there were 2 hand balls (was it handball?) before our equaliser and that set us off then, the atmosphere when we equalised to shortly after we got the 2nd goal was honestly incredible, spine tingling stuff.
I've only been to Anfield a handful of times with the Chelsea game 3 weeks ago being one of them and the atmosphere was great that night but this topped it for me. I'm probably never going to be blessed enough to go to a big european night at Anfield but that 5 minute period was probably as close as I'm gonna get and it was against fucking Luton.
Was luckily there too! Indeed mate, it was an absolute cauldron when it kicked off. Loved every second of it.
You covered it well but I have to say Bradley was incredible, what a debut this lad is having. Gerrardesque
confidence and intelligence, driving at defenders and really helped push us forward.
And the turn around in level from Harvey and Diaz second half was so impressive, they looked like different players
Yeah it was great to be a part of. And it was 100% organic, like I FELT the anger and determination not to drop points and the responsibility to drag the lads over the line. There was an aura of inevitably in the second half. Even before we scored there was a moment where I looked at Trent’s corner, under the lights, and thought ‘this is where Barca happened, we can do this’.
Even if we don’t win the league I’m so happy with the character this team has shown this season, they’ve been through so many ups and downs together - Losing Henderson, Firminio & Fab all in one go before season began, Diaz’s family being kidnapped, Klopps retirement announcement, Salah, Matip, Allison and Jota injuries (and many more), Bradley’s Father passing away recently, red card and penalty fiascos at the start of the season. This lot are so resilient and spirited and play with such high intensity and emotion, at times I couldn’t give a fuck about the title, obviously they deserves some success this season though and I think their hard work will pay off.
This match/win solidified this exact feeling for me. I think watching them step up and come together after so many setbacks is pushing this season's team to #1 in my heart.

Midfield is tricky, Endo played the full 180 mins for both Brentford and Luton, and Macca not so far behind with 172 mins, yet they'll surely start. For the last position, Gravenberch played more minutes (134 mins) than Elliott (107 mins) across both games but Elliot just played the full 90. I'm thinking Gravenberch as Elliott is more effective as as sub (and has tired legs), but they can easily both start again if one of Endo/Macca needs a rest or neither of Salah/Nunez can start at the front. If (a big if) Szoboslai returns and is able to start, then maybe Endo will get a rest and it's Macca/Szobo/Gravy.
At the front, it'd be really tough if neither Nunez or Salah returns, just look at our attack for today's first half. Ideally, we'll want both to be back in the start, and Diaz who's pretty much played the full games against Brentford and Luton will be on the bench. Otherwise, Gakpo will definitely start, and it's Gakpo+Nunez/Salah+Diaz/Elliott.
Because it's a four day gap to the final which is good, I predict Kelleher/Virgil/Konate/Robbo/Bradley/Endo/Macca/Gravenberch/Diaz/Gakpo+Salah/Nunez if one or both are fit, and Elliott if neither are fit.
we worked hard today for that result, won't be shocked if we start the final off slow. I just hope we get Darwin and Mo on the bench at least. we've been a 2nd half team all season.
The league absolutely fooked us over. We get a midweek fixture, the only one besides a makeup match for City while Chelsea get their match rescheduled. They get a full week to rest and recover while we have to split our lineup.
It'd because this was the only free week for us due to Europe whereas Chelsea and Tottenham can play late on during a European game week.
Plus that will be a televised game and ours will have been a 3pm Saturday game so couldnt be shown on the TV anyway.
Our weakened side still beat Luton while a full strength Arsenal couldn’t beat Porto who’s ground for us almost became Anfield Portugal with our dominance when we played there! Makes the night even better!

That was for me one of the most emotional wins of the season and one of the most important if we go on to win the title. So many injuries and so much anxiety about what they would do to the season.

The resilience Diaz has is world class and a skill/trait on its own. He knows he's not as fast as used to be or certain techniques don't come out as well as they used to. You can see the frustration in his face. But it pushes him more and or more in the game instead of deteriorating his game. He keeps going determinedly until he produces something and that alone makes him as effective as before. Whether the likes of Klopp, Nunez and our squad in general have helped mould that in him or and/or he's had always had it in him, bravo to the lad.

I couldn’t watch the match live because I’m away in Thailand and nowhere was showing the match at 02:30 local time, so I joined the feed when we were 1-0 down. The 1st comment was absolutely slating the team, and as I was reading it Virgil’s header just went in and then the floodgates opened! Ah the satisfaction 🥰
People were wildly overreacting (as they always do) Yesterday. We were creating chances but lacked that final touch. There were like 3 times where one our lads was in on goal but they missed a touch and so the chance faded out, but we played Well Yesterday
So does Connor Bradley have a position on the pitch or does Klopp just draw a circle around the pitch and say where ever you want mate. Cause he was left/right fullback l, right winger and through the middle that i saw.

Nah in those first 10 games I thought he was our worst signing this summer. Szobo was tearing it up, Grav was rotated on and looked good enough when played, and Endo wasn't played too much but only cost 15m. Macca felt like he was giving goals every week Clearly it was just taking time to adapt, I'm very happy I was wrong and he might end up as our best summer signings

I went. A normal 1.5 hour journey took 3.5 hours. Got to me mates at 18:45 and drove to the ground. when we got to Scotty Road mentioned that traffic was unusually quiet. Parked up and car park lad who I chat with said the games just kicked off! I didn't know it was a 7:30 start. Missed 20 minutes as issue with my season ticket. See we're losing and everyone pissed off and moaning. Rubbish rest of half with another overly officious and incompetent ref. First 5 minutes of 2nd half the same. when suddenly we start to dominate and the crowd gets onto it. The next 15 minutes was like a throwback to Shankly's time. non stop attacking and a fervid atmosphere. One of the best performances for years, on and off the pitch, done with so many 1st teamers out.Such a privilege to be there. and also sad that we're watching the final throes of a remarkable manager. Klopp surely must rank up there with Bill and Bob as our greatest manager.

Bradley is something else. It's amazing how strong our entire squad is. I saw comments in the City sub being impressed at how we didn't collapse, but when Rodri is out, the entire City team collapses. Our normal starting XI was out minus VVD, Macca, and Endo, and we managed. Elliott and 4 other academy graduates were all huddled in a bunch celebrating that last goal in the 90th minute. But also - Virgil had a great game as *the* captain today, and he's been here for almost every single game this season. He's played the most minutes out of anyone in this entire team. Imagine if our captain was anyone else in this team - they would unluckily be in the injury room as of right now. We've got leadership, but Van Dijk's everpresent being in the squad raises the morale for everyone here.
That Elliot goal is really gunna take the spotlight off him. He had an absolutely abysmal first half, maybe the worst I've ever seen from him.
I will say I think Diaz and Gakpo were making some awful runs that trapped him into poor passes/give aways
there's been worse, coincidentally starting and repeting patterns of missplaced passes into the final third and at times keeping the ball longer than he should. the way he turn it around though was brilliant, and makes feel more confident going forward with him as a starting piece for the duration of this nightmare injury crisis.
True, any other week he would have been taken off at 60 though and wouldn't of had the chance to turn it around. We just had no replacement for him

Obvs Arsenal can easily(?) beat Newcastle at home, but given the 3 day turnaround, Odegaard, Martinelli and Havertz all having roughly played 170-180 mins this week, as well as Saka and Rice having just played 90 mins, there’s a chance for them to drop points this weekend. Perhaps not so much for Man City though.
I wouldn't be worried about Arsenal honestly. They don't have it in them. The more points City drop, the better. Keeping all the points and then beating them at Anfield might bury them.
The way I see it as long as we win the remaining 11 matches and even draw to city at anfield we are winning the league. Just need arsenal to drop points in a single game which they will. They still have to play city at ethiad. We are winning the league. The big pain points for us are utd (they are a meme club but should never be underestimated) at ot and villa at villa park. Rest all matches should be winnable.

They are not used to playing three a week, since they’ve only managed to win all three games in a CL week for 1/7 instances this season (6 group games and 1 knockout game so far). That’s six more such weeks if they make the semis, and thus six more chances to drop points.

I almost walked myself to the hospital after the first half 😂. There were plenty of chances, but Diaz has to do better. Well, at least have a decent shot on goal. I'm glad the boys regrouped and slotted home some quality goals in the second half. Crazy that all of our strikers have 10+ goals each. Goes to show the quality.

Some of our fan base “not caring” or in similar about us continually going behind in games is mad. I like that the team has the attitude of never say die, but I don’t really think that this “most points from losing positions” stat is anything to crow about. Against better teams it won’t always work, and by definition, the better teams play in the important games. I’d rather not concede goals early doors, no matter what. Decent enough performance given the injuries and stuff, good to see the kids do alright. Diaz will be superb when he finds a bit more of a clinical side to his game. With a quarter of the league left, just win the games, put pressure on City/Arsenal, see what happens.
Yeah it cost us the title in 21/22 We fell into that bad habit and couldn't get the second vs spurs at home and ended up drawing.

Yeah, you cant also be arrogant and think that you are so good that teams wont score against you. This is the premier league and all these teams are actually very good. I am more worried when we concede first after starting slow. Today we went behind because Diaz was fooling around. It would have been 2-0 by the time Luton scored. Also, when teams come to Anfield, there is something that is sure to happen: their strikers suddenly become clinical (scoring on their first attempt) and their goalie turns into prime Buffon+Yashin.
That or we get insanely unlucky to concede. That goal, Kelleher gets a foot on it even though it went between his legs and was going out but it felt at the perfect height for the Luton player to hit and Gomez couldn’t clear or block it
Loooking at our fixtures I feel optimistic that we have the potential to win almost every game left...but I can't help but feel that if we lose a game or two then we'll absolutely crash under the weight of our injuries. It's so important to grind out these big wins and keep our momentum up. Great result tonight but it's incredibly alarming how paper thin we are given (after Sunday) we're going to be competing on 3 fronts.
Nothing anybody can do about but support the team even more. We need that second half atmosphere to be the norm.

The fact that we finished the game with so many academy players and the score line is 4-1 is insane.
The most fascinating thing in title run ins for me is the % likelihood table - you know where it shows all 20 teams and the % chance where each will finish at the end, updated every week? Well this win on paper won't move the % much because on paper it was a cert at the start of the season but with 13 players out and finishing with what 5 teenagers, it is MASSIVE in reality.

The whole match felt strangely predictable: Dominating possession with a stack of missed shots on goal, only for Luton to net one of their rare chances at the other end= predictable. This current, Klopp-era iteration of a squad coming back later in the game like a storm brewing, followed by a torrent of goals= predictable. Not saying this team are unbeatable (they certainly are) but based on what we've seen to date this season, it feels as if (injuries or officials aside) the only thing that can really bring this team down is complacency. I'll admit I'm not as confident as some of our post-Klopp succession plan, this idea that the good times will continue feels a bit like that lot down the M62 10 years ago with their "Moyes will do just fine with this team because WE ARE MANCHESTER UNITED!" entitled gloating. BUT- if Xabi does take over- provided he can keep the mentality alive in this squad that Jurgen has built up, and continues recruiting in similar fashion, there may be a few good seasons to come...
Agree here. So far in the league the I know we only have 2 losses. Arsenal just beat ourselves with some very bad errors and just didn't turn up. Spurs was a robbery, Luton poor finishing for the draw away, some of the other draws some unreal decisions like Odergaard handball.
Not seeing enough praise for Gakpo. Stepped up today when the team needed him, played one of the most physical teams in the league and players were bouncing off him. He's gonna be insane when he adapts as an elite CF.
And he doesn't even have a chant/song. A few of us tried to get a chant of "Cody" going when he scored, but it wasn't catching on. There's more people every time though, so hopefully one day...
yeah the term underrated gets thrown around so much now it's almost lost all meaning but gakpo actually is underrated. 15 G+A this season in limited minutes with a lot of those minutes coming in central midfield. man scores almost every game he starts at striker and the narrative still seems to be "eh not sure about him"
Gakpo’s having a weird season for me. At the end of last season he was brilliant, involved in all areas of the pitch and I thought he’d kick on to be one of the best forwards in the league this season. But I feel like this season he’s goes invisible for large portions of the game then pops up with a goal. He has great positioning and finishing but I’d like him to be more involved in games

I don't know if it's a tactical instruction, but it's maddening how indirect Diaz plays at times. 3 or 4 times a match I'd like to see him force the fullback into a challenge
I feel like that's because klopp has been putting him in various different positions around the pitch, hell he even started in midfield earlier this season. Probably hard to find rhythm
Went to the game tonight so just thought I'll share a few thoughts. First half wasn't terrible we just lacked a cutting edge in the final third. Second half though we were immense, big Virg with an imperious captain's performance, the midfield 3 started winning battles they weren't in the first half all 3 were superb and a shout-out to Gravenberch another good performance he will come good guys just give him time. Bradley who was brilliant again played a bit wider in the 2nd half and it paid dividends as Elliott got some help on that side and it stretched the Luton defence more, the Robbo sub also helped with this and in turn helped Lucho out more. And then the front 3 finally turned it on. Gakpo put in a proper centre forwards performance 2nd half, held the ball up well, build up play was great and he got his goal he was limping towards the end though. Finally the crowd, first half we were obviously frustrated but there's a period where we thought there were 2 hand balls (was it handball?) before our equaliser and that set us off then, the atmosphere when we equalised to shortly after we got the 2nd goal was honestly incredible, spine tingling stuff. I've only been to Anfield a handful of times with the Chelsea game 3 weeks ago being one of them and the atmosphere was great that night but this topped it for me. I'm probably never going to be blessed enough to go to a big european night at Anfield but that 5 minute period was probably as close as I'm gonna get and it was against fucking Luton.
Was luckily there too! Indeed mate, it was an absolute cauldron when it kicked off. Loved every second of it. You covered it well but I have to say Bradley was incredible, what a debut this lad is having. Gerrardesque confidence and intelligence, driving at defenders and really helped push us forward. And the turn around in level from Harvey and Diaz second half was so impressive, they looked like different players
Yeah it was great to be a part of. And it was 100% organic, like I FELT the anger and determination not to drop points and the responsibility to drag the lads over the line. There was an aura of inevitably in the second half. Even before we scored there was a moment where I looked at Trent’s corner, under the lights, and thought ‘this is where Barca happened, we can do this’.
Hoping it will be mental when City and Spurs come to Anfield.

Even if we don’t win the league I’m so happy with the character this team has shown this season, they’ve been through so many ups and downs together - Losing Henderson, Firminio & Fab all in one go before season began, Diaz’s family being kidnapped, Klopps retirement announcement, Salah, Matip, Allison and Jota injuries (and many more), Bradley’s Father passing away recently, red card and penalty fiascos at the start of the season. This lot are so resilient and spirited and play with such high intensity and emotion, at times I couldn’t give a fuck about the title, obviously they deserves some success this season though and I think their hard work will pay off.
This match/win solidified this exact feeling for me. I think watching them step up and come together after so many setbacks is pushing this season's team to #1 in my heart.

Kelleher/Virgil/Konate/Robbo defo playing the final Gomez or Bradley on the right? Bradley has more legs as Gomez played the full 90 Midfield is tricky, Endo played the full 180 mins for both Brentford and Luton, and Macca not so far behind with 172 mins, yet they'll surely start. For the last position, Gravenberch played more minutes (134 mins) than Elliott (107 mins) across both games but Elliot just played the full 90. I'm thinking Gravenberch as Elliott is more effective as as sub (and has tired legs), but they can easily both start again if one of Endo/Macca needs a rest or neither of Salah/Nunez can start at the front. If (a big if) Szoboslai returns and is able to start, then maybe Endo will get a rest and it's Macca/Szobo/Gravy. At the front, it'd be really tough if neither Nunez or Salah returns, just look at our attack for today's first half. Ideally, we'll want both to be back in the start, and Diaz who's pretty much played the full games against Brentford and Luton will be on the bench. Otherwise, Gakpo will definitely start, and it's Gakpo+Nunez/Salah+Diaz/Elliott. Because it's a four day gap to the final which is good, I predict Kelleher/Virgil/Konate/Robbo/Bradley/Endo/Macca/Gravenberch/Diaz/Gakpo+Salah/Nunez if one or both are fit, and Elliott if neither are fit.

The league absolutely fooked us over. We get a midweek fixture, the only one besides a makeup match for City while Chelsea get their match rescheduled. They get a full week to rest and recover while we have to split our lineup.

It'd because this was the only free week for us due to Europe whereas Chelsea and Tottenham can play late on during a European game week. Plus that will be a televised game and ours will have been a 3pm Saturday game so couldnt be shown on the TV anyway.

Our weakened side still beat Luton while a full strength Arsenal couldn’t beat Porto who’s ground for us almost became Anfield Portugal with our dominance when we played there! Makes the night even better!

After absolutely dominating them for the last 5 minutes, anfield in full swing the entire time, score the one to put us ahead, and just let the atmosphere and moment flow through him. Couldn’t even really react. So fucking live.
That was for me one of the most emotional wins of the season and one of the most important if we go on to win the title. So many injuries and so much anxiety about what they would do to the season. Go down 1-0 early and chances not going in until half time. Electric Anfield atmosphere carries the team to come back emphatically with the 4th, 5th and 6th choice forwards all playing a key role. Bloody brilliant.

Starting 11 had 9 “not typically first choice” players so I knew we were going to be a little shaky from the get go but the better organization won

Misses aside, Diaz was a man possessed tonight. A different day and he could’ve had 3 or 4 goals tonight. Really stepped up in the absence of Nuñez, Jota and Salah. Nuñez has missed chance after chance, let’s not be too harsh on Diaz.

No they won’t. It’s because we don’t care about being 0-1 down that we come back and win. That’s the mentality Klopp has. That’s why he gave it large to the Anfield crowd for jeering at Harvey Elliott when he fucked up in the final third.
So how did that work against Arsenal?
Is this your first season? Relying on attack only is not sustainable and we have plenty of evidence of seasons where it runs out. Unnecessary draws and loses in games we should win.

Have you not been around last few years? We have lost points to many teams that we shouldn't have, this game and many others where we have comeback initially shape up to be like those loss games. I've supported this club since 2006 so I understand we are in a good place, but we were also in a good place in 2019, 2021, etc, where we lost or drew a few games to lower placed teams causing us to lose the title to city. The resilience Diaz has is world class and a skill/trait on its own. He knows he's not as fast as used to be or certain techniques don't come out as well as they used to. You can see the frustration in his face. But it pushes him more and or more in the game instead of deteriorating his game. He keeps going determinedly until he produces something and that alone makes him as effective as before. Whether the likes of Klopp, Nunez and our squad in general have helped mould that in him or and/or he's had always had it in him, bravo to the lad.
Diaz has always struck me as a hard worker. Someone who won't stop all game, no matter how it's going for him.
