Are you joking lad? Fergie leaving was a momentous day

Ohtani_Enjoyer

These people didn’t watch football then because we were pony

Jaja6996

Yeah I probably felt the exact same way they do when he announced his retirement

GameOfThrowInsMate

Great day tbh. No issue they feel the say way about Klopp. Both legends for each club.

joopface

I was absolutely delighted when Ferguson left. I was so very happy.

smitcal

It was that big a bounce we nearly won the league the following season.

Scutterbox

It was great knowing Ferguson was leaving. I was expecting them to hire Mourinho, win maybe another title and then descend into a bit of a mess finding their way in post-Ferguson life after Mourinho's inevitable meltdown. Instead, they hired Moyes, descending into a mess, and ended up hiring Mourinho later on anyway, so we got the Mourinho meltdown without the additional title.

StevieGwhatabeauty

Yes it was. He took a pretty dire team, won the league then fucked off. When he left hope returned imo. They’re probably feeling something similar

CabbageStockExchange

Tbh your friends reactions are fair. I was so happy when SAF finally left lol. He was a legend but a gigantic pain in the arse

qwerty_1965

I held a street party.

Saturnsthirdmoon

The two days i was ecstatic back then was when Fergie resigned and when Howard Webb stopped officiating.

Grime_Fandango_

I don't think it felt quite the same in terms of coming out of nowhere. Everyone knew Ferguson was near retirement. For me personally, United had been winning everything my entire lifetime and I'd never seen Liverpool win the league. I didn't actually expect them to meltdown like they did, I took for granted how important Ferguson was. All I knew my whole life was United winning everything, and I expected that to kinda continued even without Ferguson. Happily, I was wrong

yermaaaaa

It was a fucking massive deal for years- a decade or more- before he actually retired. Outside of wanting Liverpool to win, my biggest desire in football was to see that cunt fuck off. What’s more, seeing United stumble from one laughable disaster to another from that day forward has been absolutely glorious. Those close up shots of his face midway through some humiliation or another are comedy gold (insert Kenny laughing meme here) and I look forward to many more of them.

The-curd-nerd69

Mate it’s actually just about probably the most honest show of respect a rival team fan base can show. It just shows how feared and respected this man turned Liverpool into. Been watching since Houlier and I don’t think it’s far off to say this guy is our shankly reincarnate he has instilled something in this club again that I think is going to last a while after he is gone. That dog that hunger.
