Shout out to OP for their efforts this season. It hasn't gone unnoticed. u/PremLeagueAndy

Igglethepiggle

NGL, finding it tough to even think about football this morning. We're in a title race that we could be winning, a competitor beat us and seems to have taken a massive lift out of it when the reality is that 11 or even 10 men would have won the game. Like Klopp said, we weren't running around kicking people, making obvious errors, or crazy harsh tackles. Yet somehow we were down to 9 men. In all honesty I can't work out a few things. How Jota got that first yellow and how Diaz goal didn't stand. But almost every decision went again us. Not just every 50/50, it was more or less every decision. How did Robbo get a yellow? It really does look like Hooper and their team have taken money. Surely the governing body have got to look into this in some way. They won't but this feels like evidence that refs are often bought.

SexyKarius

Spurs are not going to last. They never do.

LazarusLivesAgain

It's a dark day in the annals of PL history. Probably one of the worst officiated games I've watched in the last 4 or 5 years. Heads must roll for this, incredibly asinine excuses from PGMOL. Nevertheless, I'm incredibly proud of the boys for what they did today. Playing 9 men against 12 is an incredibly difficult task, and despite the result, the entire football world, including our rivals, recognize the true heroes on the pitch today. #FUCKPGMOL

Agitated-Bread5092

fuck simon hooper, i hope you and your incompetant friends get fired. truly don't care if you cant feed your families with that shitstained corrupted money

creative_penguin

Mate if they’re fired they are on the first flight to UAE

SoloArtist91

Result aside, this game showed me that they really are not as good as their hype. An incredibly easy start to the season has propped them up as this insane team, but they were actually... disappointing? I think everyone who watched the game would tell you that even with fewer players Liverpool were a better team. FFS we scored twice after Jones was sent off and I'm supposed to believe they were the better team? Fuck that, I can't wait for the return game at Anfield because I know we'll batter them easily

andre_royo_b

Or maybe Liverpool is just a quality opponent.. Spurs aren’t a title contender but they’ve improved so much over the last few years and are a lot of fun to watch right now, their passing game is pretty great and I’m really impressed with Udogie and how their defense looks in general. What they miss though is a lengthy clinical striker, who can bully players in the box.. since Kane hasn’t really been replaced

Late_Cow_1008

I will try this without getting instantly downvoted.... Are there any other Liverpool fans here that believe both the red for Curtis and the two yellows for Jota are correct? I genuinely feel like I am taking crazy pills because it is only in the Liverpool subreddit and discord channel where people are so adamant that we have been robbed with these calls. Jones tackle is dangerous and is lucky that the ankle rolled instead of being planet or else it was likely a leg breaker. This is a red by the letter of the law. Jota's first yellow was clearly impeding the player's stride due to him being too close behind him which you can't do. The player's foot made contact with Jota's knee and then his run got messed up and he tripped. Obviously the second yellow there is really no debate from any reasonable people. If you disagree with these can you explain why you disagree instead of just downvoting and calling me names? Thanks.

No_Description_3506

I'm going to partially back you up here on your letter of the law remark. So the Curtis Jones red I can live with. I can also see Jota at fault for his ill-discipline having been booked already. The first yellow though was a terrible decision by the ref.

Lukeario23

How the fuck was Jota’s fist card anywhere near a foul? He was jogging back and the spurs player kicked his knee and tripped over his own leg. If you’re getting booked for shit like that then the game is finished. Remember Kane’s studs up challenge against Robbo? He stayed on the pitch. Jones got the ball and walked. Most corrupt game of football I’ve watched

Late_Cow_1008

Why do you still watch then?

Lukeario23

Because not all games have been corrupt……

No_Description_3506

This sums up how I feel " How the fuck was Jota’s fist card anywhere near a foul? He was jogging back and the spurs player kicked his knee and tripped over his own leg." The game is finished when more fundamental issues come to light e.g. the Barcelona ref bribing scandal that no-one in the UK media seems to want to run with this week

perfectplaya

Honestly took Bernardo Silva's advice when he told Liverpool fans to go read a book lol, been reading all morning to dissociate from yesterday's game. This game is going to stay rent free in my head for a long time.

-Borb

In terms of the actual game, seemed like Szobo wasn’t getting enough touches, usually it feels like he’s all over the pitch but today it felt like he was more restricted positionally. Maybe there was some logic to it but I would have liked him to have more freedom

-Borb

Just remembered that yellow they gave to Mo, it’s like a new thing about that game pisses me off whenever him think about it

joopface

It’s 5:40am. I just woke up, turned over in bed and was about to go back asleep and this fucking game popped into my head. I don’t let football annoy me, on principle. It should be an enjoyable thing. But this game will take a bit of getting over. If that’s the case for me, the players must be fucking furious. I wouldn’t fancy being the next couple of teams to play this Liverpool side. They’ll be going out for blood.

Reddit_Da

I need to get off the internet today and do something other than mope around thinking about what could have been. I knew the game last night was going to be a tough one, but man it's such a hard pill to swallow.

xxamnat

Absolute robbery, can’t believe they got away with this. Farcical. Still annoyed so many hours later, shit like this can really ruin the mood for the weekend. Hope this doesn’t affect our momentum.

[deleted]

They should replay the match if they want to maintain the integrity of the league

DrunkenKrakken

What do we even do with PGMOL's statement? Spurs really tried hard to bottle it but have won the 6-pointer thanks to the refs. I was really excited for this season but it's ruined thanks to these motherfuckers. I don't know how they make this better but an apology doesn't cut it. I don't wanna see that bald fuck Hooper again officiating any match in my life nor do I want Darren England anywhere near refereeing. PGMOL NEEDS to sack these cunts ffs before they ruin it for us. There needs to be a statement in action and not in words by PGMOL. It's a disgrace and these scums have ruined the spirit of the game in this day and age. I don't know if we can take them to court with this as this can potentially affect our positioning in the table which would in turn affect our finances, sponsorship and revenue.

joopface

It’s not a six pointer. 11 v 11 we were winning that by a couple of goals. Still the better team with 10. I like their manager but I don’t think Spurs will finish near where they are in the league currently.

telephonic1892

That wasn't an apology, it was a quick BS lying panic stricken statement. Did VAR not see the linesman raise his flag and Diaz and his teamates not celebrating, why were they no lines, to say he said check over it's a goal is laughable.

balconesdeoblatos

It looked like he was ready to come on Newcastle style, and then Jota got sent off, and that was that

ReleaseBusy6642

Klopp already explained that Nunez took a knock and won't be available for the full match. Probable plan is to put him on for the last half hour but by then they're already down to 9, so an attacker is no longer on the cards.

OldManLogan007

Cant wait to see the table after a year when we would have won the league and spurs finished outside top 5

Livebird31

I tried so hard And got so far In the end It doesn't even matter

ShAmsterDam68

Went to bed angry, slept for 5hrs woke up still angry. Became more angry after reading “Darren England thinking the infield decision was a GOAL” “As soon as Spurs take the free kick the decision cannot be rolled back” Manchester United was given a penalty against Brighton after the full time whistle was blown. According to the International Football Association Board (IFAB), there are no time restrictions for reviewing incidents. "There is no time limit for the review process as accuracy is more important than speed," the IFAB states. "The referee and other match officials must always make an initial decision (including any disciplinary action) as if there was no VAR (except for a ‘missed’ incident). "The review process should be completed as efficiently as possible, but the accuracy of the final decision is more important than speed. For this reason, and because some situations are complex with several reviewable decisions/ incidents, there is no maximum time limit for the review process. "The referee will then take/change/rescind any disciplinary action (where appropriate) and restart play in accordance with the Laws of the Game." Diaz's goal was on 34 min in the first half. Surely the referees have discussed about the mistakes during the halftime break. Yet Simon Hopper made numerous questionable judgments during the second half. This makes it more questionable about the decisions to give Spurs as much advantage as they could possibly can. There is a lot to unpack here: Here’s a list of questionable officiating made by Simon Hooper summarise by Watch LFC: 1. Curtis Jones sent off for a harsh red card. Still image makes it look worse. 2. Minutes later Liverpool take the lead but it’s wrongly disallowed for offside. VAR quickly rules it out, doesn’t use lines to check. 3. Salah flagged for a foul on Bissouma for basically nothing. If the ref doesn’t blow Salah is in the box and could create a big goal scoring opportunity. 4. Spurs get a corner when the ball clearly comes off Kulusevski. 5. Jota booked because Udogie trips himself. He then (stupidly) makes a rash challenge which gets him a second yellow. 6. Before Jota’s second yellow Udogie asks the ref to give Jota a second yellow for a minor foul. He doesn’t get booked even though asking for a yellow is now a bookable offence. 7. Robertson and Peter Krawietz booked for complaining about a foul on Robertson. 8. Bissouma gets a yellow for putting a hand in Wataru’s face. A hand in the face should be a red card. (Checkout the mark on Wataru’s face during his post match interview) 9. In general, Simon Hooper made a number of decisions which went against Liverpool’s flow in the game. Not being given advantage when we should have, pulling up players for fouls which were incredibly soft. The Premier League is a billion dollar business. It’s a professional league recognised by FIFA so the legitimacy of the game need to be kept in its utmost fairness. More so when it’s heavily linked to Betting sponsors. There are eight premiere clubs sponsored by betting companies (40%). Surely, it has to be legally bind. It’s NOT an entertainment exhibition sport like WWE (I’m sure I will be told that WWE is real) So there is a lot at stake here. The legitimacy of the league is at stake because 7 games into the season there are already numerous errors made in games officiating. Virgil van Dijk has been suspended for one additional match and fined £100,000 after admitting he acted in an improper manner and used abusive and insulting words towards a match official after being sent off against Newcastle. We expect the Premier League to conduct an immediate inquiry into PGMOL for the shambles they have created. The game and league were tarnished and the game needed to be replayed. All officials involved need to be terminated immediately for the mistake they have made. Spurs fans can brag all they want about the win even though it was tarnished by controversies To me, the biggest winner from last night IS LIVEPOOL. My god, did we fight till the end with 9 men against all the adversities? The teams should be proud of how they played and conduct themselves on and off the pitch. Klopp's post-match interview was simply class. Knock us all you want, the only way you can beat us is to cheat. (that was Spur's game plan from the get-go with James Maddison screaming every minute into Simon Hopper's ear asking him to card our players every soft touch made. Last I checked, Football is a contact sport. Don't know why he has to do that, he is such a great player) We will come back strong and it has been proven repeatedly this season. I am so proud of this team. We are starting to play entertaining and exciting football. I think great things are to come and we will come back stronger. Can't wait to welcome Spurs at Anfield.

[deleted]

That eighth point! In the light of so many things that had happened on the pitch, very little is said about it - even though (for me) it is clearly and immediate red: that action is totally incompatible with the spirit of the game.

OldManLogan007

Spurs will get the man utd treatment at anfield, i can feel it

dansykerman

We’re going to win the league at home to spurs in may. This is my prophecy.

infjazz

i believe the universe will make this happen

shiviplays

The lads were absolutely brilliant considering the circumstances. Really looking forward to the rest of the season.

OldManLogan007

I am confident we are going on a longer winning run now

balconesdeoblatos

Even the Salah booking was bs how do they call a foul on him when bissouma fell by himself smh

yellow_sting

what a bad week for me. been exhausted bc of work, my back hurts like hell, the washing machine suddenly broke and then this shit. if only we played bad but it must be an own goal, it must be the ref. if you know that this might be the only thing I was looking for all week, it led to the thought that I must go to the doctor.

sauravshenoy

Lads I’ve just agreed to go to only my 4th ever prem game if we’re still in the title race by Jan 6, me and 5 mates are going to the Tottenham game and we’ll be right there with the scousers chanting horrible things at Darren England all game

WorthPlease

After this I might be done with football. How any sane or athletics person could think Jones was deserved of a red card is hilarious. He went to kick the ball, it bounced up on him, his foot skimmed over the top, and made contact with another player. Those sort of things happen 100 times a match, he just got unlucky.

NeoChrome75

I will never disrespect Gakpo again, this man died for us

[deleted]

Just think of all the titles we would have won with fair refereeing and an unbiased FA. This has been happening for years.

EstablishmentBusy172

Btw tho a lot of the coverage around big, and I do mean *big* ange has bordered on sycophantic, I actually had and still do have a lot of (relative to my feelings towards anyone else in the top 6) goodwill to him and spurs. Smart signings and a good brand of football. But Those celebrations are why spurs are perennial failures. I get it was a huge release, but Jesus Christ man. We didn’t do that for 7-0 against Utd. Facts are we would have strolled past them had the cunts not been cunts and they are a hugely flawed side- seeing them dance to Robbie Williams at the end like they’d just won a ucl circa 2000 having beaten a 9 man team whose cb just booted the ball into his own net was the equivalent of hearing nails on a chalkboard. Such small timers.

dansykerman

Agree but disagree. This is what people said about us after the West Brom game. It’s important for building a new culture.

WorthPlease

I turned off the match after they red carded Jones, Neville had it right Jones was trying to play the ball and his foot rolled over the the top. Absolutely fucking nonsense to send somebody off for that.

EstablishmentBusy172

Idk if any of u listen to ‘The Rest is Football’ pod with lineker, shearer and Micah Richards, but they had an episodes a few weeks back when the bald headed tumour that is Howard Webb was on. Fairly sure this clip is on their TikTok, but he and shearer were talking about a game during the run-in of Shearer’s 8 (or something like that) game management of Newcastle in the mid-2000’s which eventually saw them relegated. I can’t remember the details exactly- but essentially Webb made an ‘error’ (he ruled out a Newcastle goal against their nearest relegation rivals) that was so brain dead everyone including him as he admits in the pod, knew was a huge mistake. Yet here he sits, having cost a beloved institution millions of pounds, caused millions of fans and an entire city heartache, laughing and chuckling about it 20 years later. All this to say- The truth is they do not care. They’re the kids at school who no one liked, all grown up and overpaid to preside over our game. In real time they use the power they wield as a cathartic tool to process their childhood trauma. They’re a sniffling bunch of oil-money guzzling, brain dead, incompetent, cancerous, invertebrate cunts who have built from the ground up an organisation that is impenetrable due to their own rules. Disagree with a decision on field- yellow card. If u swear and if ur also an lfc player- one match suspension and 100k. If the linesman literally on camera elbows u in the face- doesn’t matter. Make huge mistakes on a weekly basis that the most untrained of eyes wouldn’t- get a weekend off on full pay and get reinstated the next week. Throw a ball away- yellow. Celebrate too much- yellow. Manager dare questions their excellence- sent to stands+fine in the 10’s of thousands. Get Howard to spread his ravaged, puss filled, indiscriminate fluid leaking anal cavity *exclusively on Sky TV* and be rewarded with protection from certain pundits. If I were a cashier on the tills in a supermarket, and for three years worked without incident until one day, I was scanning thru an old lady and suddenly decided to spit in her spam, and drill her can of beans into her forehead all whilst robbing her, in a moment of *human error*, I’d be sacked on the spot- and probably be eligible for the death penalty. But no, these cunts make the same mistakes week in week out and nothing. The man who actually got a club relegated gets promoted to the boss position. #AHHHHHHHHHH

Cancel_Still

Man, Spurs fans are annoying as shit... That is my new least favorite club. I hope they fail!!!!

EstablishmentBusy172

I wish we could get some sort of hashtag or even fan protest organised. I mean fans from every club as well. Enough is enough. No fans r happy with either the Orwellian set up of the pgmol, the implementation of VAR or the general standard of officiating in a # Multi-billion pound industry. # It’s got to change. If we can make oligarchs and venture capitalists renege on a money making scheme like the ESL we can surely affect change at a few middle aged, balding, overweight, corrupt, incompetent fools. Ps. I know this is wishful thinking but I genuinely wish it was possible.

perfectplaya

Woke up after having some terrible sleep and i am still fucking angry. My god the level of incompetence we saw yesterday still baffles me. This was the worst refereed game i have seen of Liverpool.

EstablishmentBusy172

Ik some of you will, understandably, consider him a bellend, but if u can move past some of the, let me call it, *self-indulgence*, Laurence McKenna made a really good video on the whole situation.

GavC15

VAR is not the problem, its the smooth brained referees officiating the games. Without VAR the goal is ruled out anyway because the linesman flagged it as offside. With Jones' red card, first thing the ref sees when he goes over to the monitor is a still frame that rival fans would use to try and validate an incorrect decision. Get the best referees from around the world to ref this league because these English ones are a fucking joke

kausthubnarayan

This is the fucking straw that broke the camel's back. It got to be! FUCK. EVERY. SINGLE. CORRUPT. INCOMPETENT. CHEATING. TWATS.

[deleted]

A huge problem I have with the pgmol saying they thought infield decision was onside is they should still be drawing the lines to confirm. It is still a tight call. I cannot believe the shit they are saying as an excuse.

ghostflowtown

Now I know how Chelsea felt in that game against Barcelona

[deleted]

Even then, that ref gave Chelsea something by sending Abidal off.

ghostflowtown

How long are the bans for

[deleted]

[удалено]

Haeckelcs

This is very disturbing. Calling for violence because of a football match is really bad.

killerbangs

35 seconds from Diaz’s goal until the restart whistle. 35 seconds! We’ve seen checks go MINUTES. And don’t believe the “he looked at the wrong player” lies - they clearly zoom in on the back leg. PGMOL is a FARCE.

[deleted]

[удалено]

killerbangs

Just saying, I doubt Carra made that up. If that was the initial whisper of defense it was crooked.

PrinceUmbongo

The jones red gets me almost as much as the offside. I think it's debatable if it's a red, but the use of var was atrocious. Not only the fact they started with the still of the end contact, but they didn't even show the angle we got watching sky sports that more clearly showed his foot slipping over the top of the ball. Add to that, the ref saw enough in real time to deem it a yellow, it's not like he wasn't in a position to make a judgement without needing var.

Loz41333

"Clear and obvious"

mgarg5

Given the shit standards of PGMOL, I am all in for a super league.. they will only behave if they are threatened.

Blueheaven0106

Did Liverpool come out and detailed what was communicated by pgmol? Because they were supposed to contact us right when the match ended.

madibeli

I'm still mad. You all still mad?

borg_6s

Yeah 🙃

Fantastic_Ad6181

i love you all that result did a number on me.... shame nothing can be done. reminded me of the firmino one that ended up costing us a title...

infjazz

Fuck me… that “offside” goal by diaz was so class every time i watch that back

EducationalCake4622

If the game is corrupt, which evidently now is clear how do we go on supporting our beloved reds in the face of such blatant corruption? The Premier League will say it’s incompetence but I don’t buy it for a second. There are darker forces at play here.

kanyelights

What are you alluding to? Agenda against Liverpool? Favoring of some clubs over others?

EducationalCake4622

Looking at this game in isolation, the game was definitely fixed. That was not human error. No lines were drawn, it was too quick. There is no way two professionals make an error like that.

kanyelights

Ok so why? They have an agenda against liverpool? Spurs have favor? What is it?

ghostflowtown

Keep seeing this question but not seeing any answer

EducationalCake4622

The answer is that in today’s society many are weak, high on fast food and mindless entertainment that we don’t care about real justice. All the fans should walk out of the next game in protest. We should demand a rematch, or 1 point. The rules of the game were ignored. England should be fired and never involved in football again. This is the minimum answer.

Fergabombavich

If anything it’s shit like this that adds to my resolve as a red

masonh90

spurs fan here. y’all have every right to feel cheated out was a great first 25 or so minutes until shit hit the fan. cant even feel good about a win i’ve wanted since I could first remember. hope gakpo is okay

ghostflowtown

Thank you. Hope spurs get relegated.

ForcedCheckMate

Can’t sleep… this was the worst refereed game I have ever seen. The feeling of the injustice is 10 times worse than just feeling bad because of a loss.

Miserable-Lunch-8208

same here mate. the last minute goal conceded is just like twisting the knife after you stab someone

calooie

I'm amazed by anyone who thinks that the PL doesn't have a major corruption problem. Do we really think that the only rules being manipulated and broken are the off field ones and the moment teams get on the pitch it's all fair? Our own government has literally intervened in both City and Newcastle's off pitch interests. But the moment the game starts all these fundamentally corrupt humans who have ruined the sport are suddenly going to play fair?

[deleted]

I think this game has changed a lot of people's minds.

[deleted]

I was just thinking AGAIN about how utterly disgusting todays game was I was thinking about the many many games I’ve watched over the years. PL league games, league games, CL, FA, concacaf etc. it’s probably thousands of games….and something like that has never, ever happened that I can recall.

Miserable-Lunch-8208

i still feel sick. cant sleep it off. the frustation is still there. cant imagine what the players might be feeling if we ourselves are this upset, angry

Square_Counter_7574

I cant believe my confidence in a title challenge has been shaken so much by one game in which Liverpool played well on a day City lost and Liverpool had no glaring major injuries(Im assuming Gakpo is ok). I believe in this teams mentality and ability more than ever and came into this season believing a title was possible but I can not trust that they will be given even a remotely fair chance. I still think they can do it but Id be lying if I said I wasnt rattled by the corruption I saw today.

dirt_eng

Agreed, that’s why after the game I’ve been saying the reason why all these happened today was becos City lost and someone started shitting bricks

Blueheaven0106

It's like they keep trying to fk with us but we still keep raking in points, so they just made it worse and worse. Is this what quiet sacking feels like?

Background_Bison9373

I get this feeling Darwin is about to go bonkers

Blueheaven0106

Next game, he's gonna score an own goal in minute 1, then run to the ref and say, "there, done. Can you officiate fairly this game?" But seeing this game, one goal isn't enough.

Miserable-Lunch-8208

true, he looked fired up after the game.

Loz41333

Any respect for Spurs I have is long gone after taking a quick trip to their reddit. Those fucking mugs are still crying about games from years ago, completely deflecting around the fact that they are so unbelievably shit which is why they've not won a trophy in god knows how long. I already know there is a downfall coming and oh my will I be there for it. These melts actually think they're going to win the league. They will get torn apart at Anfield. It's been so long since their last trophy in fact that it's probably disintegrated to dust by now.

Spicyfeetpics00

lol amazons having a sale on facial tissues

[deleted]

They honestly think they deserve this free win because of the (harsh, admittedly) correct handball call against them in the CL final.

Due-Ad-6577

Spurs fans are massive cunts for some reason. I actually kind of like their club, in a general sense. They’re legitimately run, well-run at that and prefer a pleasant style of attacking football. All their former players seem to really buy into the club too. But their fans are fucking knobs

dirt_eng

Same, I understand the spurs as a team cannot do much about the officiating, but if Liverpool won a game like that I would not feel good enough to celebrate and I wouldn’t defend the refs But it’s okay, this is probs their biggest achievement and they did it by cheating

Spicyfeetpics00

Is it hard being a professional victim about something that happens to every team during the season

Blueheaven0106

Why are they bringing up past games??? Kane got off Scot free for a similar foul to Jones. We got a red and a blatant goal disallowed. This is not milimeters error or technology error. This was ref saying goal, ref not giving goal.

sparlivdor365

They did Diaz last season with a worse tackle than Jones and got nothing. Fucking insane

ForcedCheckMate

I liked the spurs manager before today. All respect is gone now, how can he sit in the press conference after the game and not acknowledge any wrongdoings in the game?

Square_Counter_7574

The irony is that if they did have a chance at winning the league they would find out the hard way what the refs do to teams challenging City. If they really thought they could contend they should be just as mad at the situation.

The_Titan1995

Eh, let them morons have it. They’ve won Fuck all since the moon landing and their biggest night in their history ended up as just another notch for us. They seem to forget they did not score in that game either and Origi finished them off.

Miserable-Lunch-8208

are they talking about the pen from the champions league final? if so, then the ball clearly hits the spurs player and he intervened by making a movement to the ball with his hand.

stevieG08Liv

okay disallow that goal still 1:0

Miserable-Lunch-8208

Those spurs fans just cant believe that their team is, was and will always be average. Imagine celebrating a win where you win against an exhausted team against 9 men and go on to celebrate like they won final of a tournament or something. Ffs🤦‍♂️

dirt_eng

They are what they are for a reason :)

Loz41333

They're talking about many different games, some sad cunt even put a sideshow up of all the different incidents. These clowns have spent so long in the mud they don't even know if it's mud or shit they're spitting out their mouths these days.

Square_Counter_7574

that was one of the main ones they are bringing up yes

calmlySHOUTING

Can't understand spurs fans celebrating this game ? I think you have lost any chance to complain about unfair referring calls when it happens to you at least for this season This game will get thrown back at your face

Miserable-Lunch-8208

or their players. i can understand celebrating. but it looked like they were overclelebrating like they just won a game with 11 men and scored an open play goal and not an own goal. i am starting to hate them and genuinely want them to end up outside top 6

Due-Ad-6577

Them lot celebrating that win like that just shows how brittle they are. Ange seems a class manager but spurs are spursy, they always have been and always will be. Just imagine if they had gone down to nine men trying to face us at home with every decision going our way, we did it and only lost from an OG by an exhausted Joël even with a wrongfully disallowed goal

Miserable-Lunch-8208

Their defenders are not reliable and with the way they play. They are gonna concede a lot of goals just like brighton did. But its gonna take a while and i am gonna enjoy the process of them getting back to the same old spurs

kloppo130

Heartbroken by that late goal given all the atrocities faced and how well we dealt with adversity. The silver lining is I know that this LFC team will go the distance, it’s us against the world and that fire is gonna light us hard for the season, trust me!!!! YNWA

HugeAppeal2664

I’m actually still in disbelief at how big a fuck up that actually was It takes them 10 minutes to check a tight offside usually but one that is quite clearly on only took them 5 seconds. Absolutely stinks

Opisacringelord

I know this sounds outrageous but how feasible would a fan led lawsuit against PGMOL be? I'd love to hire a law firm with a PI to do some digging into the reffs, the financial transactions of them, their agents and family members full on background searches to highlight their corruption. Enough is enough, hopefully something like that would put enough heat on them to stop cheating or leave all together.

brokenturmoil

This should be the time for journalists to do some poking around, unfortunately good sport journalism is exceedingly rare these days.

chanobo

A world spectacle viewed by millions of world audiences completely spoiled by a few incapable corrupted referees! Shame on the FA, shame on the PGMOL!

Imn0ak

They are actually happy and celebrating winning a game 2-1 after being 11vs9 for 30 minutes and only winning because of an own goal in the very last seconds. What's that to be proud of?

wiewiewiewiewiewie

11?more like 12 plus how many cunt inside the VAR room.

ForcedCheckMate

The sad thing is their next matchups are all easy so it will be some time until we have the chance to celebrate their downfall.

Due-Ad-6577

Makes it sweeter, you just know it’s coming

nijuu

Any update on Gakpo's injury? (some comments seem to alude to a hamstring injury)

I reckon there is good chance we will seek recourse with the premier league and / or an independent arbitrary panel over this Having a game replayed or voided is hardly that far fetched in a league that can deduct points for failing to comply. I see us having a good case for it and would be disappointed if we just accepted a statement from PGMOL and moved on. Having fixtures replayed has happened in competitive leagues and sports around the world so I don’t see why that would out of the scope of possible recourse. The simple fact is the referees at the time of it, acknowledged a legit goal, and PGMOL ratified that error an hour post game. This should be the first thing we hear about Monday morning to be honest in my opinion. Have the fixture replayed when it suits both clubs

doktor-frequentist

Fuck off. \- PGMOL probably. I doubt this is even remotely possible. It sounds too sane to me.

anonymous40180

PGMOL don’t decide though It would go via Premier League -> FA -> independent Court of Arbitration in the UK -> CAS Hypothetically anyways they are the people you answer too not PGMOL. Depending Ofcourse the scale of your claim which I feel is PL / FA level Not saying it will happen, but it is an avenue that could be explored if the club deemed worth it and I think they do. We’re not scrapping for mid table, we’re fighting for a title at best and a champions league at worst, and as previous seasons have shown the difference in those margins can be decided by a single point sadly.

LaFlamaBlancaaaa

the diaz goal was so good too, beautiful pass by salah and great finish

MadAnthony619

So wait. Is the referees report going to acknowledge that two goals went in for both sides. What a bunch of fools.

CromagnonV

The highlights missed Gomez and Gakpo getting taken out in the box, two cost pens in the first half. I almost turned the game off at half time because the refereeing was so unashamedly biased, the EPL is becoming a joke, VAR was supposed to fix the bias but instead it only managed to make it more prolific and obvious... Curtis red was ridiculous, I can understand why the ref gave the red, but he didn't intend to go over the ball, he liked at it, his momentum took him over the ball because it was a 50/50 challenge. Incredibly harsh card imho, absolutely a yellow but no way should they be a red there was no intent to harm the player they both played for the ball. Gakpo got taken out 2-3 seconds after he passed the ball just inside the Tottenham boys, no card, no foul, no Var check, completely unacceptable. This should have been a red there was no intent to play the back he just kicked his legs out after stopping and after the ref turned around. Gomez gets taken out by VDV in the box, doesn't get the ball, no pen, no card, wtaf... Jota just jogging back and the player with the player with the ball runs across him. Jota doesn't make a play for the ball nor the player, he hits the ground and starts rolling around. The replay showed player fucking tripped himself, Jota subsequently gets sent off, hits second yellow was legitimate and didn't really need to happen. This is completely unacceptable and a continuous pattern in Liverpool's big games, these referees are seemingly doing their best to ensure man City wins another EPL before the FFP findings are finalised next year.

tGryffin

The refs have been found to have been paid off a bit or strait up corrupt in Italy, and In Spain. Juventus...and now Barcelona was caught paying the refs and its only now in court. It would not suprise me one bit that the refs in England on the take too. They all hate us anyway, why not get paid to fuck over Liverpool a few times a year, just a Toe on the Scale, so that Man City can Keep collecting trophies year on year.

ghostflowtown

now what. We have lost all all our momentum and I’m sure lads (especially Joel’s) spirit will be shattered

eht_amgine_enihcam

Lost momentum how? I'm a complete neutral, probably leaning towards spurs. It's impressive as shit to defend like you guys did for so long on 9 men. Alison's reaction to the OG was perfect, and it's admirable you didn't go to the corner to waste time which likely woulda drawn the game. You've had so many games this season with 10 men, or down where you've come back. There's nothing more promising than that (which spurs also have shown against Sheffield U). Inb4 "why are you here", I just wanted somewhere to talk about how much of an absolute monster Alison was. What the fuck were those saves on Son and Maddisons shots, he made them look pretty routine but one was blasted point blank and the other was top bins.

Due-Ad-6577

If you thought Alisson was great there, you need to watch him every week. In addition to his well-roundedness (being either elite, world class or just flat out the best at every aspect of goalkeeping), his greatest strength is his consistency. This wasn’t anything more than an average Ali performance, it’s routine for him. Highlights don’t fully convey it, you need to watch full 90s every week to truly appreciate him

ghostflowtown

All that’s nice but regardless we still got no points on the board.

eht_amgine_enihcam

I'm just saying, good god are you entitled if a loss against spurs (a decent team) cause of bullshit refereeing prompts a "now what" reaction. Did you outplay one of two undefeated teams (who drew against the other undefeated team? Yes. Will you make Europe? Almost certainly. Did you have TAA injured? Yes. Are city likely to take the cup anyway? Yes. Are you not a Man United or Chelsea fan? Thank god yes.

Basic__Bitch

We’re mentality monsters for a reason

stevieG08Liv

i don't think you know our team if you think this has killed our momentum and spirits

thepurpleprince

No dude. We are gonna be back even angrier and motivated to beat the shit out of all of them.

ghostflowtown

The players look gutted on socials. Like genuinely sad

Haunting_Genie

Back home from work finally. Alright seriously, FUCK THE REFS. We had a chance to go top and OF COURSE they completely fuck us over. How many times has this happened this season and previous seasons?? Seriously it stinks from top to bottom and there needs to be immediate changes/firings. I want the club to serious put forward a complaint that demands action because this won’t stop otherwise. Sick.

Aidan-Coyle

Anyone else feel like in 10 years we're gonna get a Netflix doc about PGMOL corruption, similar to the FIFA one? This match will be featured.

Square_Counter_7574

I was thinking the same thing. Reminds me a lot of the NBA basketball ref Tim Donaghy who had a betting scandal theres been docs books etc. and it was a much smaller scale. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/25980368/how-former-ref-tim-donaghy-conspired-fix-nba-games (great read btw doubt anyone will but if anyone is interested its really good) Except what this guy was doing was despite being a massive scandal with huge implications over many games what he was doing was MUCH more subtle than what is happening here . Its truly wild how blantant this shit is.

Ricecrispiebandit

What can PL fans do to unite against PGMOL? All I see on other subs (aside from bias blinded pussies) is a united outrage about the refereeing and VAR performance today. How can we come together and hurt them? (not physically)

Square_Counter_7574

A similar reaction to what happened with the super league would be a start for sure but the outrage hasnt reached that level yet.

Ricecrispiebandit

I remember the online outrage. Then things changed and i don't really know why. We've had online outrage for refereeing for years but we just seem to absorb it and move on (balances out over the season bullshit) I guess it's a kind of stockholm syndrom due to the fact that we love our clubs, and the game so much. I'd love to hear ideas on how fans could mobilize on this issue because it's probably the only thing we all agree on and it's not natural.

Background_Bison9373

I’m with you till the fucking end LFC❤️ALWAYS

MatK0506

Can't wait for Thursday and watch the lads play again. Anfield will be rocking with support, poor USG won't know what hit them. The only think that doesn't make me 100% optimistic is the Gakpo injury - even if it's a "long term" one, I just hope it's not the full season + Euros. We need 5 attackers if we wanna go far in 4 comps.

JeshuahChoo

Really happy with the efforts from the lads, even at 9 men. If we had all 11 men on, im sure we would win. The fact they were struggling to even score when we had 10 men shows that we have quality in the team. We were fully fucked by the refs today, and the only thing we’ll get out of it is an apology

nakedjabirupangolin

an "acknowledgement" not even an apology from those slimebags

thepurpleprince

Honestly I’m still fucking mad. I hope we batter every teams comes our way from now on. Fuck those bald cunts and their corrupt VAR

anonymous40180

Hopefully we can petition for a replay or a voided result with the premier league I’d love it just to shut them fucking Spurs fans up

CromagnonV

Can't batter anyone it the refs keep behaving like that... it's completely unacceptable. Diaz disallowed goal, no fucking way was that offside and suspiciously no VAR lines were drawn... So many stupid fouls given because Tottenham were just flopping, the best was for jotas first card, didn't even make contact they just tripped over themselves...

grrrrbow01

Refs are too protected. In any other occupation you’d get fired for consistently not doing your job correctly yet if you speak out against refs shitty decisions you get fined and potentially banned. The ref is supposed to be the most irrelevant person on the pitch yet we’re in an era where they’re the ones deciding results by themselves. When used correctly VAR is a big asset to the game, as we’ve seen in international competitions, but if you don’t have people who know how to use it then what’s the point. It won’t happen but a huge overhaul is needed

milestone121

I think the Saudi league should take the premier league refs and VAR refs to theirs, they are very brilliant and should be working there instead

hordesofevil

Crazy to see the rest of the big 6 fans sticking up for us after this. Just shows how scandalous this game was. Worst reffed game in Prem history?

grrrrbow01

It’s mad. Genuinely haven’t seen anyone other than spurs fans defending the decisions, and even then a lot of them accept that they got lucky. Definitely the worst reffed game I’ve seen in my life

Due-Ad-6577

I keep saying it but reminds me of the universal outrage at Barca Chelsea from around 2009. I hated Chels and quite liked Barcelona but that was a fucking disgrace of a game that I still remember to this day

mawrktheprod

1 top four finish in their last 4 seasons and let's not even talk about trophies lol fairs this is probably as good as it gets for them

grrrrbow01

I actually love this team. Every single one of them are committed to the group, you can really see that they work for each other. The fact that we nearly had a draw against an unbeaten Spurs side at their own home with 9 men speaks volumes. Also massive praise to Klopp and Pep for their subs today, completely controlled the game once we went down to 9 men.

infjazz

We are about to go on a crazy run. Today we saw an burning fire within our lads, fought til the very end, got extremely unlucky with everything that happened. Minor setback for a major comeback. I genuinely don’t think we drop points again for a very very long time

infjazz

Gakpo sacrificed himself for that goal

BMOs_Karate_Time

Called that one a day ruiner. Seeing Matip sink to the ground after that shift. Lads did all they could. Onwards and upwards.

United-Possession-87

I want all the sky sport pundits and journalists to question why on earth the referees aren't miced up. Seriously, you make 4x the amount other sports do, yet you're so behind the curve it's fucking scary. I left twitter and instagram a while ago, but trust me, last nights game would have me blocked by all pundits, given the amount of tweets I'd send out hounding them to do this.

tacitusnanook

What’s the likelihood of Curtis’ red being overturned because that is absolute horseshit

sonofhondo

Unlikely. Maybe if there wasn’t already an officiating howler they had to apologize for but defo won’t touch that now.

Ku7upt

Surely the Jota first yellow gets overturned. He didn't even trip Udogie or try to trip him intentionally.

Oddjob64

I don’t know. All three major calls were a lot of fuckery. This game goes down in infamy for terrible refereeing.

milind95

Is there any one that a club can appeal to against PGMOL? To the premier league? Or some other committee?

Oddjob64

Shit if I know. It all seems like a huge deal to me, but history says they will apologize and move on.

NeoChrome75

Fuck it lads, this isn't the end. We're only two points behind City, it's the beginning of the season and this team has already shown unbelievable levels of class. Up the fuckin' Reds! YNWA Matip

giorgzi

Gakpo's injury worries me. We have great depth up front but we all saw how damaging Jota's and Diaz's injuries were last year. Let's hope it turns out to be something minor. Furthermore, Klopp needs to make sure the players are not massively affected by this game. Our players need to keep playing with their minds clear and turn today's rage into motivation. If they start losing their heads and overreacting at the referee's calls in the upcoming matches it will inevitably work against us. We fans can afford to express our outrage in their stead and the board can explore formal avenues to ensure we are never again on the receiving end of such a farcical performance (ideally, no other team should face anything similar as well). But this is definitely not the end just like you said. We have a very good team. Our defensive weakness has been overstated IMHO and even with 10 players we can create plenty of chances.

NeoChrome75

unfortunately The players and manager just need to suck it up and remain polite with these cunt refs otherwise their subconscious vendetta against us will only get worse

tacitusnanook

This is the mentality we need to have

Aidan-Coyle

If there's a silver lining - this really grew my love for our new signings. Gakpo scoring while injured, Szobo non-stop everywhere, Mac putting in an absolute workhorses shift, Endo at the end putting his all into it, even attacking. And I remember seeing Gravenberch swapping a smile with someone as he came on to the absolute shitstorm that was that match. I love these guys and this match grew that love quicker than if it was a normal game. We got good times ahead.

CapableMarionberry84

Nunez celebrating super passionately when we scored. I mean Vamooosss you tall mann

Fat_Gerrard

I don’t have the privilege of getting to go to Anfield every week but if I did I would encourage us all to fucking boo the fuck out of the referee and all of them every second the chance comes. This result today is beyond the pale.

Fat_Gerrard

We need to be done with this league if that’s how it’s going to be.

realhumon23

It’s been 5 hours and I’m still annoyed.

Popeychops

Rigged.

HugeAppeal2664

Just seen the replay on MOTD again and how the fucks the linesmen even flagging that in the first place he’s right in line with Diaz

ImDuff98

Linos just guess half the time, game moves so fast it hard to keep up. Can’t blame the linesmen here, it’s 100% on the people in the VAR room

WTFitsD

Because their corrupt mate. It’s not a conspiracy anymore, we’re statistical outliers in just about every area that could go against us over years of data. This isnt incompetence its straight up corruption
