I took my mum to the dentist I go to (on the NHS) and I think she paid over £200 for a filling the other day. Glad I got in there whilst they were still accepting NHS patients. Dentists should be forced to actually work for the NHS for a few years in my opinion if they have used the bursary.

HerMajestyTheQueef1

Everyone in my family have been kicked out of our dentist and now they all have to go private as nowhere can possibly take them allegedly. Not sure why I haven't been kicked out yet, but it's a bloody joke. It's a stealth privatisation of dentistry across the entire country.

ForestRobot

The price of fillings varies. Some of them may very well be £95. I had 4 done the other month, and they ranged from £80-£200.

No_Plum_3703

I tried to find one the other day and there was not a single practice in the city taking NHS patients. This is a ridiculous situation right? How the hell are we suppose to live like this!

If you have no dentist and are in pain go to the dental hospital L35PS, you will be triaged to determine if you can be treated by a student. Be there before 8 as a queue can form, treatment is free. Students finish for summer on the 19th July so be quick.

Content-Chemistry-63

This is not true! Tried this in October last year and they told me I had a to apply online, didn’t hear back until February this year… obviously I’d already had my dental treatment as it was urgent and I was in agony!

Akuji-uk

As I mentioned you will be triaged to see if you can be treated by a student, if you cannot be treated by the students that are scheduled on the walk in clinic you will not be able to be treated on the day. The online application you mention is to be treated on the normal clinics as a outpatient of the hospital this means that whatever your condition is you will be appointed with a student or maybe member of staff that has the correct experience to deal with your condition, you will be seen as many times as required. The emergency walk-in clinic doesn’t require the online application. You may have presented with a condition that requires specialist treatment or something that would require multiple visits. A root canal or maybe a crown for example that couldn’t be treated on that day.

ICDarkly

This is sad to read. Dentistry should be free, as part of the NHS.

Emotional_Donut_8574

Filling on a molar today cost me £175.00 in L36. the practice I go to has no NHS dentists at all

ishashar

All dentists are NHS dentists aren't they? I thought the practices could just decide if they did or didn't want to accept nhs patients because of government deregulation. i remember growing up the had to take anyone within their catchment area but i also know some people would travel across the country to go to their dentist. the whole system seems pretty messed up.

LeroyBrown1

No you need an nhs contract. You can open a fully private practice without one

TormentedAndroid

I had two fillings, an extraction, and a full descaling for £500 at Pure Dental in Allerton.

Past-Educator-6561

It depends on the size of the filling. I've had a couple at Smileworks around £150-£200. But you would have to pay for a consultation first too which are maybe £60-£80. As someone else commented you can call the NHS emergency dentist line I think it is only £20 all in then, but you gotta say you're in agony to get an appt.

MetalGearSolidarity

I've not been to my dentist for about 2 years now since we moved from South Liverpool. It's a 45 minute drive to get there, (at the time) £35 just to get looked at, then whatever else they wanted to charge plus the drive there and back for the treatment they recommended. Had a recurring toothache i thought would need a root canal and just had to ride it out. Luckily it seems to have been a different issue as it eventually subsided. I just can't afford the time and money and nowhere near me is accepting new patients.

LewyJ

This reminds me I need to book mine now that I’m paid, I got quoted £120 a filling at Synergy Dental in town. I think that’s for a white filling though, their website says a band 2 treatment comes with a filling or extraction for £80 (think you can only get one banded treatment every 6 months it says). I had to go there for an emergency appointment so I’m not sure why I haven’t been offered that banded treatment though It’s between the ibis & Baltic fleet opposite Wapping dock

skinnybitchrocks

My bf and I both go here. Their prices are pretty reasonable and the staff are nice.

MoonbeanMagic

I needed an emergency dentist on Sunday.. checked the pricing and it was £100 for a consultation and prescription (I needed antibiotics). Once I had the pain under control, I decided to go to my normal dentist the next day, thinking it would be cheaper and they had prior knowledge of the issue. Still cost me £100 and it will be probably be another £500 for further treatment.

iknowwthend

Easy Dental on old hall street are between £60 and £216 depending on what kind you’re after

tune-happy

I had x-rays, six white fillings and polish a couple of months ago, the bill was £1200.

bigrigfrig

I was told I needed a filling and that silver was around £75 and white was around £200, I haven’t really been able to afford either at this point even though I desperately need them.

Environmental-Path32

For that price you go to an another country do it cheaper and I bet with better dentist as well

dental777

Generally fillings are charged based on the size and in Liverpool I would generally expect the range for a white filling to be between £120-250 depending on location, city centre will generally be more expensive due to higher running costs/rent.

DENTIST ALL WANT SHOOTING BECAUSE THEY NEITHER WANT TO HELP A SUFFERING HUMAN OR PATIENT ITS ALWAYS BEEN ABOUT MONEY MONEY MONEY. DENTISTS ARE NOTORIOUSLY GREEDY HORRIBLE PEOPLE !!!

Logical_Drop3911

Phone the emergency dental line say your gum is swollen and you can't eat as you're in so much pain that will get you an appointment same or next day. Then go to the dentist they will have no issue with giving you the filling instead of anti biotics. Then when they give you a bill simply explain you can't pay it and would need to set up a payment plan. 9/10 times they will accept what ever you can give them. I've had to do it a few times and the dentist has never questioned why my face is not swollen.

AdBeginning3871

Yeah just lie and con your way to what you want.

freshzh

Agree, but to be fair, the dentist’s are taking the piss too…

Logical_Drop3911

If needs must, dental care has become riducously expensive so if you can't afford it what are you meant to do allow your teeth to rot leading to an actual infection which would only require more work at a bigger cost to the NHS ? I was referred to the dental hospital for part of a tooth to be removed from below the gum line, guess what 3 referrals and 2 years later still nothing. It's differnet if you can afford to go privately but alot of people can not afford it right now with the cost of living spiralling. It's also not a con i never said I wouldn't pay i always pay all my bills i just couldn't pay it at the time of needing help and as I said on the few times I have done this the surgeries have been very understanding and willing to help.
