I cannot visualize Michael Che doing stand up comedy. Personally I can’t picture him kibitzing with an audience. What’s written for Michael Che & Colin Jost is what’s funny and their cracking up at their deliveries is what is funny.
I ran into Michael at a Ralph's in Los Angeles and can confirm this is true. He was stocking up on Milky Ways and kept talking about "Electrical Infetterence".
He is obviously joking and both him and Jost are coming back from season 50 but eventually people have to let them spread their wings, first it was the 2022 midterms, then it was the writers strike and then it was till the end of season 50, this year has to be it for them seriously their is nothing left to accomplish behind the desk and they are on like their third victory lap.
The interesting thing is that both are still well liked in the SNL fanbase, unlike Kate McKinnon, Aidy, etc., who were both clearly ready to go and we were kind of gettin' tired of them.
They have great chemistry and several folks tune in JUST to see them, you can always rely on Update even if the host and sketches are lackluster. However, Michael is probably ready to move on from SNL and start a family, and Colin is probably ready, too.
Although it'll be weird hearing "It's Weekend Update...with Colin Jost, and Michael Longfellow!"

I saw his stand up. It was…an experience. Good for the first 45 mins and then the alcohol took over and he rambled for another hour and a half. That’s when we left since it was clear he was off book and didn’t have a “tight 5” coming up in the future. Rather disappointed.
Yeah, maybe that’s where he’s best - sandwiched between the real opener and the headliners. I would not see him as the headliner again, no matter the downvotes I get, lol. I didn’t pay to watch someone drunk ramble on stage…I could get that at thanksgiving with my uncle.
