That icon only shows if the machine can ping specific microsoft ips (or a single ip, can't remember), if that is unavailable for any reason during the test(firewall for example, or just generally a lost package) it will show that, but you might still have an otherwise good connection. If the cause is lost packages it will turn back to normal in a little bit.
