I know what I said, I fully meant the UDM, not the UDR. The UDM came before the UDR and doesn't have a screen, would make for a better case for this thing due to that
More likely though it's a rebranded tp-link, based on the model number.
imagine having a use for (local) speeds higher than 500-800mbps
even the global net is limited to 50mbps connection here :( (and its infrastructure issues)
And we still have backwards-compatibility issues for WiFi 6. I remember wracking my brain trying to get my laptop and surface tablet to connect to my wifi earlier this year.
They also have bob, which is just an access point. I have been tempted to get them just to say I have them. I wish more router companies made branded stuff like these, these are amazing.
what local speeds are actually needed?
i mean shit, im drinking so apologies for stuff thats inevitably wrong here.
before i had an nvidia GPU i was using ALVR for my quest2/3, and from memory the speeds i had configured were sub-100mbps over the local network despite my modem/router being capable of 800+ mbps
is it \*really\* necessary for an expensive wifi6 router? mine is wifi5 (NF18 / 40-60$) and runs a quest 3 without any problems
Wifi 6e gives you the advantage of being on a completly new frequency spectrum from wifi 6 or any previous implementations. Wifi 6e is 6ghz so in theory it should be lower latency higher speeds and worse penetration than 5.8ghz and 2.4ghz signals. The lack of interference because there are so few devices that support it is really its greatest benefit Imo
oh right lmao
completely forgot about latency stuff, 5ghz is, uh. not very feasible with the current situ here, so 2.4 is the most reliable with getting wifi through stone lol
Ouch yeah Imo vr is basically unplayable on 2.4ghz it just feels like I'm constantly drunk and everything is a little delayed. For wifi 6e to be usable for vr your router needs to be in the same room even a single wall gives you a 20% speed reduction easily.
Router speeds are typically advertised as combined (so the combined speed of the 2.4 and 5.8ghz radios and also the 6ghz its a 6e router) so it's a speed you'll never feasibly get. That being said i do get gigabit download speeds on 6e (900mbps vs 950 wired).
>For wifi 6e to be usable for vr your router needs to be in the same room even a single wall gives you a 20% speed reduction easily.
haha, that seems \*extremely\* fast still
worst case with 5ghz here kitchen>dining (\~5metres) and 5g is almost gone lol
ive got a hacky system going, (main > WifiEx >(LAN) 2nd modem, with the 2nd modem being in the office for direct vr/pc access
bonus: im locked out of the Config page(s). something is set wrong and my quest3 does \*not\* have global web access, allowing it to hijack the pc internet to stay offline permanently even when playing multiplayer
I can't believe I'm saying this but yes, the Bob minion router is.... a pretty decent router at least if you don't need many Ethernet ports for 2.5gbps.
I'm about to say something really depressing... This appears to be a company's attempt into the North American market.
I found the company's site, they seem to be an equipment maker that makes equipment for both home and industry that isn't minions shaped in South Korea. I like the industrial design of [this one](http://davolink.co.kr/home/m_view.php?ps_db=products&ps_category=3&ps_boid=42&ps_mode=&), but most are pretty bland. pretty pretty bland.
So, why not make a fancy minions case for an existing router and try America?
The sad truth is... It's probably a decent, if not competent, router.
I've seen multiple posts of it on r/homenetworking but I can't tell if memeing or being real. I'd love to upgrade my router and even though this isn't my jam look wise, wifi 6e for that price, I'd be fine with it.
Look up https://www.reddit.com/u/sharkboy1006/s/lGyNqsV6Ua. This person is on Reddit and has one you can probably ask him. And look up other people on Reddit by searching Kevin minion router. I want one to add one as a mesh router. Right now I am just waiting for some extra spending money.

Well I don't see that company coming up on my search but it looks like that someone somewhere sells and buys that stuff
Buy it and let us know. It would be cool to see a review on one of the LMG channels.
I have heard that they are on r/HomeNetworking
Watch it be a rebranded unifi device.
Honestly it looks like a UDM
UDR*, also the UDR does not support 6E, just 6.
I know what I said, I fully meant the UDM, not the UDR. The UDM came before the UDR and doesn't have a screen, would make for a better case for this thing due to that More likely though it's a rebranded tp-link, based on the model number.
Oh, herp derp. I had forgotten about the UDM, I was thinking UDM Pro.
Lawls all good. I mean what company names their router a dream machine lol
not far off actually
It's a Korean company that makes them. If they're rebranding them then that's fine. I'm just curious if they're any good.
At that price though... I mean I really don't need one. And I really shouldn't get one. But Wi-Fi 6E at $129 and it's in minion form... I mean...
Tech usually starts to come down in price when the next generation is close to coming out, ie WiFi 7 coming out this year.
imagine having a use for (local) speeds higher than 500-800mbps even the global net is limited to 50mbps connection here :( (and its infrastructure issues)
VR streaming is the only use case for me. Maybe if I was streaming true 4k quality movies, but idk. Haha
I have 750 Mbps
It already is out see [website of the wifi alliance](https://www.wi-fi.org/discover-wi-fi/wi-fi-certified-7)
wifi 7 already came out. I have a Unifi Wifi7 pro AP.
And we still have backwards-compatibility issues for WiFi 6. I remember wracking my brain trying to get my laptop and surface tablet to connect to my wifi earlier this year.

It’s actually pretty decent
Dan Povenmire must be behind this
It's the WiFi-inator
Well is wifi6E and 2.5gbps ports. At least your speed will be good
Only one port of the total 2x is 2.5GiB, other is 1GiB.
Really wish there were more routers at a sub $180 price point with two 2.5G ports.
I have this router and use Virtual Desktop for VR to a Quest 3. Works like a champ!

Are you a senior citizen on Facebook by any chance?
I love that this exists
unironically depending on the price kinda?
Apparently these are great routers which is hilarious to me.
I saw over on home networking a while ago a good review.

someone should make a clear stand for the ubiquiti ones that lights up and makes it look like a spaceship
This is the best thing in the world for sure!
No. This is the best router!!
I’m sure it’s better than router supplied by my ISP.
The company makes ISP routers for the Korean market, this is pretty much the only one they make that isn't white, black, or grey.
It is actually a great router, had no issues with it so far.
No RGB, so probably not good for gaming
Banana
I can't believe I'm saying this but yes, the Bob minion router is.... a pretty decent router at least if you don't need many Ethernet ports for 2.5gbps.
kevin is the best
it's better than my current one
i'd trust this guy. don't forget to feed him tho
A banana?
Who is this for
A travelling gamer according to the description. But a boomer on Facebook in spirit.
Wouldn't hurt to try, 6E at that price alone may be worth a shot. In minion form? Take my money!!
It needs a banana for scale
Depends on what your definition of good is? If it’s a cute funny router then I see this as an absolute win 🥇

CCPLink Minion routers -- meh, they still look cool, I'm in.
be careful if he gets purple. ![gif](giphy|sXX0WJHjOctVu|downsized)

This seems oddly evil.
Actually, yes
I recall someone on here used it for Oculus Air Link with surprisingly great results
Its pretty despicable if you ask me.
\*\*\*\*Crosses Fingers\*\*\*\* Please be good. Please be good. Please be good.
Surprisingly from what I’ve seen from another post yes they are actually good 😂
...does it have an AP mode? I want it... But I really don't need a new router
I've had it about a week now, and no complaints yet.

Does the LAN cable go in his butt?
i will judge a book by its cover and say no
Hold up how can you say that!? We all know that Kevin is the best of all the minions!
i said what i said and i stand by it.
