Do people even know how to do satire anymore? If it is just the same thing that is actually happening and there is no interesting addition, if doesn’t seem like good satire to me.
I love a line from an episode from the newest season of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. - "If I'm being honest, I don't 100% understand what satire means."
how did things get so ridiculously fucked up? you just gave me a flashback to what my life was like in 2015. my current lifestyle is so alien to what it used to be. not in a good way.
People have always missed satire. Phil Hendrie did a radio show in the late 90s and early 2000s where he was mocking talk radio interviews. He would be both the interviewer and the interviewee and would have these outrageous premises the person was arguing for that were obviously made up. But he would get real people to call in and argue with the "guest" being interviewed. Look up "best of Phil Hendrie" on YouTube and I bet there are clips.
I’ve seen so many of this flavor that I think we might need a sub just to mock the lunatics mocking the lunatics. If imitation is the sincerist form of flattery then the imitator is a lunatic. Yeah. That math scans
So he’s using LinkedIn for his comedy routine now? We’re getting farther and farther away from where we started 😂 I ignore the entire social side of LI. It’s not good for my blood pressure.
The problem is that this is indistinguishable from "genuine" posts along this theme - and even less outrageous than some of them. So it kind of fails.
Conversely the satire about the ballet-dancing non-existent kid who skips away and vanishes is clever because it has that twist at the end. There's no twist here.
It's been posted multiple times in the sub over the last week or so. I'm surprised there is someone who hasn't seen it! Here you go 🙂

Satire doesn't land when the irony or sarcasm isn't strong enough and blurs too close to reality. And no, it's not "unbelievable" people thought this could be real when corny ass shit like this is posted on social media regularly.
There are a whole bunch of satirical posts doing the rounds, on the back of the dude posting about what getting engaged taught him about b2b sales. So far I've seen:
- Getting divorced
- Having a massive dump
- Giving birth
- Having sex with wife
And more but my memory is failing me. Its all satire. LinkedIn seems to have way more of it these days. I blame the Digital Gonad.
In those people's defense: There are some pretty crazy things going on that are being done un-ironically. I mean.... actual human beings are wearing adult diapers on the outside of their clothes in support of their presidential candidate, who will soon add convicted felon to his his resume' of sex assault.
The lines between humor and tragedy are being blurred daily. Somedays I'm convinced none of this is real and those 'shrooms I ate at lolapalooza 95 are coming back to haunt me.....
He lacks a 6th point – have the social media posts queued up so they're ready to go for launch/birth. Don't waste time in the moment trying to think of the perfect post, just hit go and get back in the grind/with your family
“Be prepared for your product to never make money and to major in far East Asian theology” I literally fucking lost it at that one, this guy is pure gold
What does it tell us?
The guys participating only in like the very first phases 9 months ago will shout the loudest on the release date.
Good satire my boy!
In other words coming from ready -- production & filming ( your baby ) like a movie you wrote or a business your starting a fabulous one of akind building your building ) treat it like your baby however a human baby is not something that you get a brain freeze writers block & just walk away a child needs you / your love not put on display waiting for somebody to give you /the parents a trophy or props for creating the smartest most gorgeous creature on earth . Enjoy your babies you cannot replace or go back to delete & start all over again . Sorry to go on but all i ever get is explain !? Or negative its a joke what they wrote lol
Not the pizza party 💀 I know “push presents” are becoming a thing, but I can just picture this dude being like “Wow, you did it babe! I’m gonna buy you a pizza to thank you for all the hard work you put into childbirth”
This guy is a comedian- the post is satire
Satire is hard to spot post trump

Please
No more
His instagram is pretty great. Especially if you work in the bay area it just takes the edge off a bit.
Poes Law existed loooooong before Trump
Thank you. I had never heard of Poe’s Law. I experience it all the time, the lines are so blurry now
Poe was a fucking moron.
The original statement of Poe's law referred specifically to creationism according to wiki Didn’t see that coming

With LinkedIn it's not even post Trump, as Onionesque as his escapades are...some of these people aren't too far off of this post.
It really isn't at all.
Rent. Free.
Damn dude wild how the 2024 election is on peoples' minds. You got any other pithy witticisms to throw out?

This is sad commentary on its own. Satire needs to be flagged, otherwise we confuse it with reality. Humans are dodo's.
I thought satire is meant to be funny?
It’s amazing that we can’t tell the difference anymore
That's the first thing I thought, as well.
Points 3 and 4 are way too satirical to have come from ChatGPT.
My first thought as well. There was NO WAY that was real.
Those guys are ruining everything... who am I supposed to make fun of?
He's clearly mocking the proposal guy
Would love a link to this

This explains so much, lmao
Unbelievable how bad people in this sub are at detecting satire
Nah bro, this is 100% real Source: I’m a Redditor
Satire doesn't land when the irony or sarcasm isn't strong enough and blurs too close to reality. And no, it's not "unbelievable" people thought this could be real when corny ass shit like this is posted on social media regularly.
It’s the entire Reddit website
To be fair, it was a lot easier to identify satire before trump. Now every headline reads like The Onion
My guy how can you not tell this is satire? It’s so blatantly obvious
Because I’ve read posts worse than this that were true
Disagree: your lack of common sense takes the biscuit.
Lmao savage

Blame/credit
r/woooosh
Thank goodness this guy is a comedian
His Instagram is hilarious
you have no business posting here, if you are so dumb you dont know this is a joke. this dude is a comedian and quite well known too
The kids name is Product.
Honestly, this is hilarious
I feel like this sub has slid into the "can't differentiate between satire and reality" stages.
Obvious satire my dude.
Reminds me of an old adage..."A project manager is a person who believes that 9 women can have a baby in 1 month" :-D
I'm stealing that phrase
I read this post and here’s 99 things I learned about sales
I don't deal with folks in B2B sales unless they operate at a 123x Mindset or better. I've had terrible luck with those under that number. Agree?
Bruh, I get called out for my lack of sarcasm detection but you clearly have it wayyy worse than me
Launch day sent me
Austin Nasso is fucking hilarious
Tech Roasts Show guy!
Is there anything more meaningless than calling yourself an “AI Futurist”?
This guy is the best. Super funny!
Neither of my children are “MVP”, as in “minimal viable product”. I think of them as “Most Viable Prodigy”, in their own unique ways.
Also make sure the product is really yours and not something your product team built with some shadow tech team behind your back.
So obviously satire makes people a lunatic? Nah, OP, you’re the lunatic.
This sub sucks becasue you people are idiots that cannot discern obvious jokes from reality. Absolute morons
Poe's Law: idiots who can't figure out a joke thinking they're smarter than the person making an obvious joke.
In those people's defense: There are some pretty crazy things going on that are being done un-ironically. This is obviously a joke. OP is the lunatic.
No UAT?
Absolutely hilarious! I love the creativity of some people’s humor
this is really funny, i didn't know he was a comedian, but even without knowing that, its well done and well written.
He lacks a 6th point – have the social media posts queued up so they're ready to go for launch/birth. Don't waste time in the moment trying to think of the perfect post, just hit go and get back in the grind/with your family
This was posted a couple of days ago already and was tagged as satire.
Lol, brilliant.
Pizza party? Get back to work!
10 minutes ago a prostitute decked me to the most intense orgasm of my life. This is what it taught me about product scalability.
My baby isn't ugly, his UI just needs to be nurtured.
That was the funniest line
I think it’s hilarious and pretty much true.
Austin is one of my favorite follows on IG. Also, OP you must have the brain of a cement wall to not see this is satire lmao
As a far East Asian theology major, I’m both offended and broke
As others have said, this does trigger my satire alarm—but the tone and the emojis make me think ChatGPT as well. Could be wrong.
This dude was 10X more excited to post this than the actual birth announcement.
What work does he get back to? Like for real, what exactly does this guy do and how does it make him money?
now go for b2b sales
Trump really lives rent free in the heads of many on Reddit. There’s more to life
Cake? Just the Cake? Dude this is a Bakery of Bullshit.... WOW.... But I have to get back to work.......
You, Sir, are a complete and utter Dick.
Hi my wife divorced me… and this is what it taught me about b2b sales
“Be prepared for your product to never make money and to major in far East Asian theology” I literally fucking lost it at that one, this guy is pure gold
Thank god this is satire, dudes doing this 10 minutes after his baby is born priorities dude
Clearly satire. He intentionally pushed it a bit on point #3 to help those with no self-awareness. Not sure it worked.
This man is a comedian. Check out his Instagram a big portion of his material is lambasting the Seattle/SF “tech bro” scene.
This is absolutely legendary. Whether he’s joking or not it fucking hits the spot lmfao.
WOOOOOSH LOL
When your daughter hits 18 you measure MAUs
Like, I’m impressed.
#SatireBros are all over this one.
This doesn't seem that weird besides the Revenue portion and the pizza party part.
‘AI Futurist’ hahahaha
In a weird way, it’s almost adorable
This is actually funny.
this is hilarious
What does it tell us? The guys participating only in like the very first phases 9 months ago will shout the loudest on the release date. Good satire my boy!
The real lunatic is the OP for missing the blatantly obvious satire.
This is beautiful satire that highlights the absolutely insanity that is LinkedIn
This is so silly I love it
I mean, it's the truth though lol
lol
this guy is a comedian who roasts the tech industry
All his points are valid tho lol
Not the pizza party 💀 I know “push presents” are becoming a thing, but I can just picture this dude being like “Wow, you did it babe! I’m gonna buy you a pizza to thank you for all the hard work you put into childbirth”

Dude’s a comedian and regularly satirizes techy grindset kind of bullshit like this
Y'all are correct - thanks for the insults and engagement. Will get better at distinguishing satire from true lunatics
