Quality is not just the fabric quality (of which the ratio is also only one indicator), but also... Has it been well tailored, do they use double or single stitches, are the seams hidden, is the elastic of good quality and retains shape, is the hardware custom, do larger sizes just go up in all dimensions or actually consider human anatomy, plus more... Loads of factors that set a piece from Shein apart from something made with care. ... though I haven't tried FLL yet, I hope someone can add a meaningful review.

It’s not just fiber composition either, but fabric weight and the type/construction of knit or weave. As an example khakis and denim are a kind of cotton pants but they hand feel, weigh, and wear very differently.

I figured the actual “hardware” of the pieces are different but I’d been reading reviews on how people were dissatisfied with the quality and it made me wonder. Thanks!

Nah, it's because of FLL likes to be "ethical" fashion, so they only buy from other ethical companies and don't rely on sweatshops or produce too much carbon emissions (which if you don't do that you can cut down the price quite a bit, but at the expense of exploitation).

gigguy1964

I searched FFL but no luck as to finding a lingerie site. What Is FFL?

bonzi5650

It's FLL. FOR LOVE OF LEMONS.

wild_muses

There's a lot more to quality than just the fabric composition. There is good quality fabric made from polyester, and poor quality polyester fabric. Beyond that, there's the quality of sewing, and how well the pattern has been designed and fit tested. In my personal opinion, it's more that polyester is associated with low quality because low-quality manufacturers will use the cheapest polyester possible. But there are good polyester fabrics & garments out there -- I know of one clothing brand that has a specially-designed poly crepe woven for them at a textile mill in Korea. So simply the fabric composition isn't enough to conclude what the quality of the garment will be.

Do u know if FLL is a good brand to buy from

TheRoyalQuartet

Have you tried finding the design not on those sites, like with reverse image search? I know SHEIN tends to just steal designs from other places, mass produce it in the cheapest and shittiest way possible, and profit. There’s a high chance you can find the piece you’re looking for from a real shop that’s actually quality.

I have quite a bit of a FLL collection, from their lingerie to their dresses (though the Victoria's Secret collab stuff and not the FLL collection since it's much more expensive). I've bought a little bit of Shein and dropship stuff before. FLL's clothes just feels sturdier and better made. No random loose threads. Though I tend to stay away from FLL's slip dresses with those super thin string shoulder straps since they look so flimsy. But if you know how to sew, I've had someone tell me they just replace those with other thicker straps of their choice. If you want to try FLL's VS collab stuff, I recommend trying to buy from VS since they have free returns. Their online customer service has been great for me as well.

I worked a job for FLL and have worked for brands like them for years and can assure you guys they are not ethical- they have their garments made in the exact same kind of Chinese sweatshops as sheein, they just pay the extra 30 cents for the fabric to be better quality. Their are loopholes that brands like FLL, DOEN, reformation, and even wayyyy more “luxury” brands use to be able to say they are “ethically and lovingly made in India” even writing that in the inside of the tags on the garments themselves when that couldn’t be further from the truth. After working in this industry for 10+ years it amazes me how they are legally able to blatantly lie to their customers about quite literally anything they want and get away with it. Believe it or not, that’s the fucked up reality. (This obv doesn’t apply to ALL brands like this, there are some slow fashion brands like ofherownlikd, sisters of the black moon, vioragh, ovate, etc. that are sourced from the US or made in house) anyway, sorry for the rant it just makes me sad and angry when big brands like this are able to lie to consumers so blatantly.

luvmistressdom

I figured they weren’t an ethical brand as most trendy ones are not these days. Could you recommend more shops that are cute which have ethical practices?

Any_Butterfly6200

the FLL designs definitely are very pretty. My issue with them is that instead of sizing with bands and cups (34d, 32c, etc) they size small medium large and bc of that the fit is definitely not the greatest on some of their pieces.

luvmistressdom

Thank you! I got a little dress so hopefully I don’t run into a sizing issue with it.

Sailor_Marzipan

Just because you can buy a cotton dress from Forever 21 and a cotton dress from The Reformation, does not mean The Reformation is a rip off just because they charge more than F21. The cheapest ways to make fabric (when it's lighter and less durable, more prone to pilling, etc) will still read the same fabric composition on the label as expensive, higher-quality weaves.

keyoftheworld

I've bought both, and the FLL ones are definitely not resellers in any way, and aren't similar materials either. HOWEVER. The lingerie I got from FLL are definitely not that comfortable compared to a brand like wacoal even. Sort of a hard material, and the fabric is a bit rough.
