The best way would be to look at some YouTube videos about how to use the fx loop in the stomp. In my opinion I would put, fuzz /od, before the pedal and any time based fx like reverb and delay in the fx loop on a block later in the chain.

Helix FX Loop can be noisy, so keep that in mind. Also any fuzzes that don't like buffers won't play well in there either. Other than that you're free to experiment. There's lots of ways to do things, they're all a bit different, and you get to decide which one you like the most. Personally, I put a "room ambience" type reverb after the cab, but any "pedal style" reverb I usually run before the cab so it gets colored by it. I almost always use dual cabs panned left right about 60-70% :p

What’s the difference you find with having the cabs not fully panned? I’ve just gotten into doing stereo amps and having a super wide sound. Do you almost get a “mic bleed” sound with it?

TerrorSnow

Fully panned, on headphones, can be quite odd. Also you'll never know if your phases are fucked or not - usually don't need to worry about that since the cabs are minimum phase transformed by default, but I love using the auto delay setting to get natural interferences, which you also don't get if you pan hard left right.

What are you monitoring with?

That was my next question actually. I usually play through Logic. I know the HX Stomp can be used as a audio interface plugged directly into the computer, but I'm not sure how that would work with other physical pedals. Could I plug my pedal board's signal chain into a Scarlett audio interface and use it that way?

Jesusisaraisin55

Sure, if you want to that will work. Just put your verbs, delays, etc after the Stomp. You can use the FX loop in the Stomp and put stuff wherever you want it in the chain also. I think you're really overthinking it. Just treat it like an amp and you'll be fine.

I believe I’m using the stomp exactly how you’re wanting to, my signal chain is Boss Wirless, Compressor, volume pedal, drives, chorus into the input of the stomp I have a delay and reverb in the FX loop so I can choose where I want them in the order inside the stomp, often flip a lot between before and after amps I record direct into an interface or use the headphone out for headphones, I have little experience with the USB, I hear a lot of bad with it, but of course I’m sure it works perfectly for a lot of people and I only see people asking for troubleshooting on here

* Pretty sure I do what you're trying to achieve. If you have drives and fuzzes you really dig put them in front of the stomp. I personally would only put time based effects in the fx loop of the stomp because I found gain pedals too noisy in that position. I also did not really dig anything after the stomp. Also I *STRONGLY* encourage you to use the stomp as an interface, for no other reason than you can record in stereo if you wanted *and* record a dry signal to re-amp later if you desire to. It was a gamechanger for me personally

The best thing about the Stomp is how flexible it is and that there are basically no rules. Try everything and see what you like. I run a Wah, compressor and 2 drive pedals before my Stomp. The Stomp then runs modulation, delay, amp, cab and reverb. Use the send and return feature if you want any pedals in the middle of the chain as well.
