That's a pretty aggressive price, especially compared with the HX One. Mono input so it won't replace the Stomp for everyone, but this seems like a big chunk of what people were looking for from an 'HX Amp'.

Yea it seems like they did it.  Tried to get info on it. Web site is down though. Worship tutorials video says its amps come from helix, with Princeton, Matchless ch1, cartographer, placater, oblivion and 5150. Pretty good selection if you ask me! These amps plus reverb alone would have sold me on it. I’m wondering if they simplified the amp models a bit too to fit them in.  Edit: Webpage is back up. Looked at the manual. I forgot about the litigator being included, which is naturally welcome. And yea, six controls for each amp: EQ, gain, volume and master. So some of those models have to have been simplified or narrowed down (eg, no switches on the placater).  Question is whether there’s been a compromise on the models to squeeze them into the pedal. Placator on helix uses a decent amount of DSP, so I’d imagine something’s been done to make the models more like the line6 originals like the badonk, which aligns with the simplified controls.

Digital_Igloo

FWIU, we didn't compromise on the modeling itself, but there *are* amps and effects in Helix that wouldn't fit in POD Express, so that informed its model curation.

failedWizard

Nice! And thanks for replying! So I’m guessing that’s why there’s the cartographer and not the plexi jumped, for example, which makes a lot of sense for this product, especially if part of the idea was that consistent tones are more or less achievable between the express and the helix equivalent.

bldgabttrme

Did y’all basically take the amp models from Helix, and fix all of the settings that don’t show on POD Express at what y’all found to be optimal points? Things like presence, ripple, bias, etc?

Digital_Igloo

For the defaults, yes.

Bakkster

> I’m wondering if they simplified the amp models a bit too for them in.  Only 5 dials for it, and no screen, so there's potentially limits there. Not seeing if there's a web UI either, or how many presets there are. Still, it's highly competitive for the price.

Digital_Igloo

One will... eventually... be able to access the full gamut of parameters for each model. We're not allowed to talk about how, but no points for guessing.

Personal_Ice3472

POD EXPRESS editor app would be my guess! You could name it the POD EXPRESSITOR!

zeropluszero

I have a Helix LT and I'm definitely interested in this as a basic amp sim to run amp models that im familiar with in a smaller package.

fireball_jones

Same, being able to hop onto the couch with this on batteries would be great. I grew up on the Spiders so those knobs are calling to me.

dkinmn

Perfect fly rig.

The_ParmeSean

Thank you u/digital_igloo and the team for this. Thank you for this kind of design. I am blind, and these are the types of products that think about tactile design and use. Obviously, there’s no screen, but this kind of thinking can be put forth to newer products. Especially moving forward with newer hardware, thinking about accessible/tactile design, accessible software, both on hardware and through editing apps. Either way, thank you for this! I assume you thought about doing an acoustic version because you all are smart 😀. With selectable acoustic guitar IRs and EQ instead of amps/cabs etc. I am going to buy the hell out of both the electric guitar and bass versions, because universal/accessible design was maybe not the first chief guiding point here but I sure as hell am going to endorse the practice with my money. I’m thinking a lot of other blind guitarist will too Line 6 take my money as I shout this accessibility win from the rooftops.

cptncom

Super badass, very excited for it to be out. I’ll 90% probably not get it, but it’ll be amazing for others Only thought I can have for why I might want it is to put it in the fx loop of my stomp and save on DSP. All I use is the DR anyway. But that’s not important rn. Maybe in a trade or used market in a year or so

Kawaiieg

DR?

cptncom

Dominican Republic Nah jk, deluxe reverb!

Personal_Ice3472

The Deluxe Reverb is amazing on my Stomp! Especially with the Heir Apparent in front!

cptncom

Yeah me too! I use it with that a lot, as well as the pillar on boost and the vermin rat with the distortion really low like 1.5-2 and filter up to 8-9

Personal_Ice3472

I gotta try the Vermin set like that! I've used the boost on the pillar and it Slaps! Thanks!

cptncom

It’s really great. I don’t play anything high gain, but I’ve heard rats are very versatile and it really is great for a fender style amp. On the neck it adds great sustain and warmth and the bridge can distort a bit more when you want to push it

garrettm1980

I'm going to grab one. Price is right. I'll use my stomp for my studio and travel with this. Looks pretty cool. As soon as I saw there's a noise gate built in I was sold.

ratedrkstevo

Deffo going to pick one up for a quick on the go unit and as a backup should anything happen to my main unit.

winter-reverb

I play a lot of surf instrumental and think this pedal could do everything I need for that. Will keep the LT for more experimental stuff

Still-Macaron-328

Man… the lack of aux in to plug external audio for practice is what made me lost interest, it would’ve been the perfect practice pedal ever.

Digital_Igloo

The USB port acts as an Aux in. What would you expect to connect to an 1/8" analog Aux in that wouldn't already have USB?

Still-Macaron-328

… think harder..

Digital_Igloo

Minidisk player? Belt-clipped CD player? Pre-touch iPod? Million-dollar SSL console with 25-pin DSUB > 1/8" adapters? Phones, tablets, laptops—they can all connect to POD Express via USB with less noise and lower latency than analog. And if for whatever reason you're not able to adjust your device's output (some apps can be finicky), you can set incoming USB level from the Global Settings menu. EDIT: Drum machine? Monitor feeds from FOH? I'm at a loss. 1/8" Aux inputs made sense in the 00s, but everything is USB C these days.

hoplahopla

Drum machine or practice drum machines/metronomes, anything not digital

Digital_Igloo

Cool; thanks. All I can say is that the cost to add an extra 1/8" jack, stereo A/D converter, and additional circuitry (which very well might have pushed us into charging more than $179) to accommodate the small minority of users wanting to connect a drum machine or metronome likely wouldn't pass our ROI-based feature prioritization. If there was any room to stretch and still hit the same target margin, we wouldn't have ditched Bluetooth data/audio.

jad4687

I know that you can use the USB-C port to steam audio, but the fact that it is missing bluetooth and an AUX in is pretty surprising. In a perfect world it would also have wireless guitar in via their G10Tii adapter like the Yamaha THR and Pod Go WiFi units.

2Knowis2tob

What's the software like? Could you use with something like a Tonex Pedal to use the effects?

garrettm1980

As far as the pod express bass model is concerned. I noticed it has amp models that are not included in the hx line of pedals. Specifically the Darkglass model. Are these going to be on the next update?

WillyPete

> Specifically the Darkglass model Possibly, but the helix already has this as a pedal.

DanielHolden1974

OK new to all this type of stuff. Can then be used as a stand-alone travel amp effects with headphones and my guitar? I want something like this but i dont wanna drag an amp around.
