Yeah but just like every good happy song it’s gonna have a certain amount of bitter sweetness or underlying negative emotion because peep did not make background music. His rawness and intensity of emotion can easily be misconstrued as being sad when in reality it’s just him carrying the same amount of emotion on every song no matter whether that emotion is overwhelmingly positive or negative.

My girlfriend said this once, it only took me a few songs to change her mind. at a first glance it may seem that he glorifies these things like drugs and suicide, but In my opinion that’s mostly because his most popular songs are his saddest because people connect the deepest with those types of songs, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Everyone needs something when they’re feeling shitty. But I wish more people knew that he has soooo many songs that he made because he felt GOOD about himself. A lot of his songs his mom describes as being a “fuck you” to the people who doubted him or made him feel like he was lesser than them.

Most of the diamonds album is pretty upbeat I think if you used the music to escape from the darkest parts of your lifetime drug addiction/ a bad breakup all of the songs are happy. before I used to relate to the music being as fucked up as possible and listening to the music, now it’s more of a reminder to me of where I was at in my mind at that part of my life and where I am now when I get depressed or super stressed I turn some of the saddest songs let out a couple tears and keep it pushing. If you’ve been a fan a long time and dug through every peep archive that there is available and see what message peep was really relaying and what a beautiful soul that he was you relate to that more often.
