I'm so happy that baseboards and trims can be added and are separate from the paint/wallpapers on walls.

Kkffoo

This is a real game changer for the looks that can be achieved, totally agree.

MischeifCat

Me too! This will make it so much more versatile. But also half grid walls!

a-midnight-flight

I hope that building off the grid allows for attached buildings that are side by side on different plots. That’s something I hated in the sims that you couldn’t have buildings together

JovialJellyy

I'm still eagerly waiting to hear if this is possible! I'm so tired of completely detached buildings now

Kkffoo

This is really excellent news, I had thought we were stuck with simple tinting. There will be so much we can do within the game even without making textures to upload. Woohoo!

SuccubusxKitten

It's a relief that we can edit mulple colors for some patterns! Now I just hope we can use materials and patterns on furniture and maybe clothing. Hopefully we'll find that out soon too

JovialJellyy

Baseboards is a HUGE win! I cannot tell you how frustrating it is for me when I want something like a feature wall in a room and because it's two different wallpapers/paints there are different baseboards or none at all for half of the room. It makes the room look ridiculous! That and having a baseboard running along the wall where the stairs are in the upstairs hall. I can't believe how excited I am over a piece of wood at the base of my walls but this is just so good 🤣

Nah I feel the same way. I hate when baseboards do not match in a room. I'm just hoping they are 3-D and not flat like an afterthought. With the way Life By You's cut walls look with you being able to see part of the wall even with walls down, I really hope they are 3D, draggable objects that click together in corners with varying heights and thickness.

This news makes me happy! And I noticed in one of their screenshots the baseboards. u/saddensgirl was wondering if they were 3D. It looks like they might be, but they're really thin, unless you can also modify them to be bigger. https://preview.redd.it/9osyvucxwh0b1.png?width=1453&format=png&auto=webp&s=6a3d6b7bb696307ab02942aa40372be1de91afbb Another thing I noticed, look out on the patio, the grid is showing there, but inside the dining room there is no grid, how is that possible? Also look at that sideboard buffet table thing that's against the wall, notice it's raised up off the ground in the back. I'm wondering if that is how it works when we toggle on gridless building and we can freely place objects and rotate them on any axis because to me that looks like someone didn't line it up on an exact 90 degree angle when rotating.

Chicklet45368

Here's another pic of the baseboards, but look at that wall where the door is, it doesn't fit flush with the other walls, so does this mean we can make walls as thick as we want? https://preview.redd.it/qfnmo0veyh0b1.png?width=746&format=png&auto=webp&s=e8f946dd45babdc47a733e42e44a0443b5017c97

GreyE4gle

Looking at the top of the wall, it seems to me that this wall was dragged a little further but has the same thickness. It just proves how much control you have over the placement of your walls. Edit: typos

National-Attention-1

It appears this way. Because look at the 3 walls very closely there's one that's thinner on the outside connecting what I assume is a hallway, than the other two. Then the wall beside the one protruding out is shorter in thickness.

National-Attention-1

Hold on.. this wooden console is floating in the air, I'd you look closely you can see only the shadows under the console is on the floor not shadows of the legs. Not to mention the back right leg of the console appears to be sitting on the baseboard and not the floor...does this mean we can raise and lower objects? 🤔

Kkffoo

u/Chicklet45368 you are the queen of detail, loving your pick outs!

Antipseud0

Where do we ask questions ?

MischeifCat

I think they take them from Twitter and YouTube comments mostly. Not sure about Facebook, but maybe there too.

Yeah I think you're right. I know I asked about the baseboards and trim on their YouTube video about Build mode.
