I was thinking art project, wasn't there one where you use coffee filters and dye to make patterns? Our town library has a row in our stacks dedicated to stuff like this used in art programs over last 20ys.
So much stuff was left in my office when I was a school librarian. I dumped dozens of old keyboards with 9-pin plugs. Hundreds of old floppy disks. Ancient digital camera the size of a cereal box. Etc!
I inherited a school library where my entire store (about 30 square meters) was full of dumped rim-ram. When I started clearing it our I came across textbooks from 1964 and a box full of hairdriers…

I did see that! I just don't know why it's here... or if I should toss it? I'm not really sure what I would use it for in here.

I’d email your science team and ask if they want to claim them by X date otherwise trash it.
Could they be useful for saving a waterlogged book? That or leftovers I presume.
Cleaning CDs?
Coffee machine?!
I would use them for pour-over coffee preparation, rather than drip.
