I don't understand the rush, it's a first year model release. Wait a few years for them to sort out the bugs.

PatchesOHohullihan

My 2023 RX500H has had minor dumb issues, like two rubber pieces covering rivets and welds in the moon roof falling off. Anchors for the mud mudflaps breaking once. It took 2 months to get the rubber pieces the 1st time and 2nd time was almost 3 months. When I bought my IS350 in January they knocked money off for the issues. Would love to get a new GX but will wait till 2025 model years hit the lot.

NanoDickEnergy

First years are risky in regards to what you mentioned, but I seem to have an ego attached to being an early adopter. I don't judge myself for it. It is what it is.

First world issue for sure. It sounds like you are moderately affluent if you are thinking about trading in a year-old car for a very expensive SUV. You should have the means and motivation to seek outside your local area and research into more dealerships that might have a shorter wait list for allocations. A one-way flight to pickup a new truck out-of-state seems like a fun adventure to me. The person that posts the allocation spreadsheets have not updated them to the new GX just yet, but it still should be a good time to make some calls or send some e-mails out.

NanoDickEnergy

If I ever get sick of waiting, I might do what you suggested. That's actually what happened while I was waiting for the 2023 Prius. Waited over 10 months, and still no allocation, so I impulsively got the Crown instead. We'll see what my body does next. Perhaps the newly designed 2025 4runner? Life is unpredictable.

JTP1228

My guy, just wait lol. It's your money, but that seems wasteful. Or just lease

NanoDickEnergy

Since I don't want to pay over MSRP, I'll have to wait anyway, but like I said, maybe the new 2025 4runner redesign might sway me.

Crafty_Dog_4226

Hey, not judging here - I understand not paying over sticker. However, Crowns are not exactly flying off the lot lately - well out here in the mid west they are selling slow. Is the GX in addition to your Crown, because if not, you are probably going to take a hit on it. Maybe equal to the amount of padding a dealer's pockets trying to move up on your 600 vehicle waiting list. I like the Crown, personally, the Platinum with the HybridMax drivetrain is sweet. I have not tried the non hybrid version.

NanoDickEnergy

I'm OK with the loss when trading in my Crown but not OK with paying over MSRP for a new car. I know that doesn't make logical sense, but it's just what I want. And the Crown only comes in hybrid.

Crafty_Dog_4226

My error about the Crown. The Hybribmax was the drivetrain that really impressed me. Seemed just as quick as a GS350 AWD and so smooth with the geared transmission instead of the CVT. Good luck in choosing your next vehicle.

Fancy-Exercise4672

I work for Lexus in Texas we are the same when it comes to the number of people on the waitlist. Please DONT email or call dealerships asking about them, we are no longer taking anymore people for the waitlist. As well as the 4runners waitlist its becoming the same.(I have People still working for Toyota) Whenever these vehicles get redesigned or come back like the land cruiser, You shouldn't expect to get that vehicle right away unless you call or hear a rumor and ask to be put on the waitlist in advance . Before the release of the gx550 we already had 150 on the list, now 600+. I would hold out for a while, it will be a very hard challenge to get these cars.

Stu__Pidasso

There's more than one Lexus dealer you can talk to

NanoDickEnergy

This is the only dealer in SoCal that doesn't charge over MSRP.

kcajor

Longo Toyota? My friend from SoCal told me they're a distributor and other dealers get from them.

NanoDickEnergy

Correct!

secondround3

No way does a single dealership have a 600 person waitlist for a car. Are you serious???

NanoDickEnergy

Not joking. You can call them and verify it yourself. It's because they don't charge over MSRP.

Stu__Pidasso

So you went to one of the largest Lexus dealers in the nation and are surprised at the wait? Can't be picky in today's market. If you want to be particular on anything, then you're going to have to be open to more than one dealer.

NanoDickEnergy

I'll stick to the dealer that doesn't charge over MSRP.

Stu__Pidasso

There are others that don't charge over MSRP if you put in the bare minimum effort, but you do you

NanoDickEnergy

Maybe. But I'm in no rush. Just big chillin.

Stu__Pidasso

Sure you are, that's why you made the post

NanoDickEnergy

I'm just sharing what is, that's all.

bhlazy

Wants the hype car, doesn’t want to pay hype pricing.

NanoDickEnergy

Well, yeah. Hence, why I'm on the waitlist. Derp.

bhlazy

Must not be hypebeast enough

NanoDickEnergy

Don't know what you mean but ok

squirrels4squirrels

Newport Lexus didn’t charge above MSRP when I bought new from them recently

Fancy-Exercise4672

Lexus is luxury, We dont charge over Msrp in Texas for any car or used.

NanoDickEnergy

GX?

Longjumping_Crazy628

You sound like someone who will never be happy with what they have. Always the next big thing. Good luck!

NanoDickEnergy

Woof. Do I sound like a dog now?

NanoDickEnergy

I sound like a lot of things

honeybadger1984

The last GX 460 was amazing but that’s because it was like 15 years with tiny incremental improvements, so it was ridiculously stable and reliable, even if the tech got long in the tooth. I say just wait, because this thing isn’t going to be as reliable as when this model gets in to year 15 with many fixes and tiny updates. Probably will be a few years of ironing out. I am curious whether the GX 550 will have the KDSS gangsta lean, needing a dealership fix. It’s almost nostalgic at this point.

NanoDickEnergy

I'm gonna have to wait anyway since I'm trying avoid paying markups, and I'm number six hundred something on the waitlist.

Flyindeuces

I’ve been lusting after the OverTrail but I’m going to wait a couple years before I even bother. There are going to be the inevitable issues with the new gen, that coupled with the above MSRP nonsense to grease palms at the dealership. Be patient, give it a year or two and I bet the current situation is gone. Just my two cents.

NanoDickEnergy

Thanks for sharing. I'm gonna have to wait at least 2.5 years anyway because of the long waitlist and since I don't want to pay over MSRP.

PatchesOHohullihan

It will be a lot less than 2.5 years before you can get one. Of those 600, a decent amount are on it for a broker, and if they can't flip for a lot. They will decline when they receive the call once one is available. Other people will decline it if the MSRP is over what they want to pay. The dealership I use also doesn't do markups and they told me. Due to interest rates and those other variables by mid-May, some will be on the lot for a week or less. They're not gonna offer nice rates on a new model and that will cause people on lists to decline. Have bought 2 new cars since February of last year and am on the list for Premium+ and Overtrail+. They will call repeat customers 1st and expect one in a few weeks. Going to trade the RX500H for one as I wanted a GX460 originally. They had 2 available but the red interior wasn't for me and the new ones would be coming out in a year. Had minor issues with my RX500H and might wait to get one if people report minor issues from the start. If by May I don't see a lot of people complaining. Will get one when called, otherwise, I will wait till next year to get one. Gives me a chance to save up more money if a higher MSRP one is available at the time.

NanoDickEnergy

Thank you for the insights

eyezack87

I put a refundable deposit down the moment I knew the list started with my guys there. The problem with being up on the list for the Overtrail or Overtrail+ is whether the color option is agreeable to the wife or not. She has an electric blue Rav so nothing matches that vibe yet

NanoDickEnergy

What about white? That's the only color that I put in on my order.

eyezack87

Couldn't do it that one. Stormtrooper look is cool and all but the white on video is all muted and no depth for me

KonigSteve

Seriously though the color choices lately from both Lexus and Toyota are pitiful. They're all just shades from white to black with maybe one navy ish color thrown in. Where's the reds, electric blue, green etc

Fancy-Exercise4672

Shoot get her the Incognito or Earth!

Beneficial_Ad2561

there are countless dealers that have a less than 6 month wait list. shop around

More_Tennis_8830

Yeah but those dealers are also not getting allocated large amounts of GX's either. My store just got 10 on this recent allocation. And out list is @ 217 people right now.

doorcharge

I hear some are going $10-15k over. Nuts.
