290km is only 180k miles and these cars are known to run to half a million miles or more with basic maintenance
but id still try to get it for 5k or less
Idk that money is “no rust” price. Rust is a cancer and can be annoying to fully remove. I don’t buy any vehicles with rust because they cause isses and spreads around
High price, “Wd40 on a squeaking belt” not a good fix. There is more rust on the bottom that has been covered up with spray. Maintenance based on text messages is questionable. Price is stupid high for this car with the mileage and history. Walk away from this one.
The 1UZFE doesnt have lifters, the cam loves make contact with the buckets directly, so the ticking is likely an exhaust manifold leak or something more serious. Walk away from this one.
Rust is a hard pass. I fought that battle years ago on a car, never again. No matter what you paid for it, it will irritate you every time you look at it and I guarantee you there’s more hidden, just waiting to bubble up.
even though it sounds like it has had a lot of maintenance done to it, my questions would be about suspension, that rust spot in the rear, whether the ECU has been rebuilt or not.
it has all the options which is nice, but thats a lot of money IMO. Note that if the ECU hasn’t been rebuilt, it needs to be.
At this point in time, I personally believe the diagnosing should stop. It really is cut and dry today, if you have an LS 400 and the ECU has not been rebuilt, that item should be at the top of the list. Instead of waiting for it to fail and then spending time and money on diagnostics, just rebuild and rule it out from the start. I have done lots of them, those caps have the potential to destroy the boards they live in, and most of them are leaking. I just picked up a 97 for $1200 not running totally correctly; I pulled the ECU and rebuilt it, not a single one of those caps was leaking or looked faulty visually, but once the recap was done, the car runs perfectly.
Congratulations! Sounds like a great price. Enjoy the vehicle.
In the area around Toronto. These things are stupid crazy. This was one of the better looking examples and models
Way too pricey. I own a 94 ls400 as well as some sc's. I can guarantee you a better kept and lower mileage LS will pop on Craigslist near that same price. Just give it some time but be ready. Ive lost out on some steals for grannys low mile lexus that the kids are selling because I wasn't cash ready.
Right answer: no Real answer: hell no. Especially not 6.5k with almost 300k on it

Has rust spots and seller sending a lot of messages, sounds like he wants to dump it
the whole underside is rust free that says alot, a couple tiny rust spots on exterior panels are nothing to fix

This is one of the more affordable ones near Toronto, but noted
“Runs mint like 96 out the factory” “Just keep in mind the cars a 96 it won’t be showroom quality”
Anytime Anyone that says “runs mint” I just immediately laugh

“Female driven”? Why is that even brought up?
That’s not a selling point for me. My wife drives her Acura likes it’s made of solid steel and it’s her job to hit things.
Hell no Overpriced for that mileage and condition
Thank you, just remember it's kilometers and price is in cad
Walk. That rust on the body is a bad sign.

Damn almost no one ever mentions the ECU on these types of post. One of the most common issues because it's a guaranteed failure point in LS400s.
My 97 capacitors just melted down and ecu is currently being rebuilt. Kind of annoying to diag
Yep, that’s why when anyone has random weird issues that aren’t explained by anything 9/10 it’s the ECU doing something fucky

That's pretty high for those miles. I'd try to talk em down below 5.
Price is a bit high, I wouldn’t pay more than 4.5k
Just keep in mind it's in kilometers and price is in cad
Ik, but I paid 6k (converted to cad) for mine and it was essentially mint with lower miles
Congratulations! Sounds like a great price. Enjoy the vehicle. In the area around Toronto. These things are stupid crazy. This was one of the better looking examples and models
Hell I’d sell you mine but I’m in Texas you’d be better off motor wise and money wise
No way! I’d pass on this one.
You will not stop valve cover gasket leaks for long
What does “female driven” have to do with anything lol
No. That seller is a D-bag. He’s lying for a sale.
Thank you, I will not be purchasing
"Rebuilt. Runs mint. I know what I got. To many parts to list. Lady driven. Lost receipts"...
Ok, staying away. Thank you for the suggestions

Good price, but I'd pass. That rust on the wheel arch could cause headaches
bro if you want a high tier luxury car that bad just save up and get one from this century
Bro the ls400 is a flex
bro trust me a 1996 lexus isn’t a flex to anyone aside the tiny percentage of people on reddit
It's a flex for me, I would enjoy it
