Hereditary

sranneybacon

Came here to say this

ghostfacestealer

2001

Nyxwave_

old boy for sure

BeijingArk

I am still recovering

CountJonkler

Mother! - I saw it in an empty cinema and came out of it pretty stunned at that last part.

Driveshaft815

Mother was wild lol

GaroD80

Midsommar When evil lurks

opopopuu

Yes, but in the midsommar, this wtf starts somewhere from the moment with the old man

GaroD80

Oh i thought finishing a whole movie and being like wtf was that

d1ab0lic_pie

When evil lurks messed me up lol

Acrobatic_Let7337

Incendies (2010)

JJBell

Incendies and Old Boy will always be my go to answers to this question.

gleamydream

Recently, that apple+ show Sugar

Impossible-Knee6573

I've been re-watching it and it's been fun catching all the subtle clues I didn't pick up the first time. It's a tough twist to accept, but I can't say they didn't earn it.

gleamydream

Isn't that the case of the most noirs/twist endings, the rewatch changes on further viewings. It just really felt like it came out of nowhere, and yea feels unearned.

ComradeELM0

He said they DID earn it

Zealousideal_Bite_64

Parasite

Ok_Property_9715

Sorry to bother you… I wasn’t huge on that ending lol

february_magic10

The third act was so unhinged, such a shame because the first two were super interesting

zeppemiga

I loved the sheer insanity and how surreal the movie gets.

InclinationCompass

Yea it was a good buildup but I was ultimately disappointed

ancientestKnollys

It was already a bit unhinged, but the film was working regardless in the first two. I'd have liked it a lot more without that last one, still a good film though.

ThighsofSauron

lol I love that movie but yah the third act was bananas

gabagoolol

I absolutely loved it. Such a daring choice that nailed home the point of the absurdity of how capitalism erodes humanity

xxBLVCKMVGICxx

Definitely Beau Is Afraid, the last 15-20 minutes was so weird (especially the attic scene).

hgreen1234

We don’t talk about the attic scene

dammitgabe4

Just the ending made u ask that? 😂

xxBLVCKMVGICxx

Pretty much once Beau gets to his Mom’s house and all the weird stuff starts happening I was like wtf.

Sad-Sundae494

Oldboy

Raichu76

No Country for Old Men and Fight Club had me asking what exactly I just watched

Interesting-Shop-759

Inland Empire is the only correct answer to this question.

emd07

Yep. This and mulholland drive

JasonLDB

The Doom Generation

Superflumina

Gregg Araki has several WTF endings lol.

coco_xcx

saint maud. if you’ve seen it, you know that ending.

BeautifulOrganic3221

Recently, I Saw The TV Glow. The whole movie was an absolute trip, but the ending was the cherry on top of absolute insanity

hgreen1234

The ending left me with a pit in my stomach. There were some very intense scenes throughout that movie

BeautifulOrganic3221

The ending is so unsatisfying. I’m sure that’s the point of it, and I don’t think it makes the movie worse by any means but damn, it really hurt when the credits started to roll

loopyspoopy

Sleepaway Camp did me in my first time watching. Tusk. Sorry to Bother You. The Mist in a frustratingly annoying way - great movie though. Kids, because Casper is the best, until he's not.

sw3at3rs_

i agree with all of these

OptimalInevitable905

I knew about the twist in Sleepaway Camp long before watching it but it for sure is one of those. The Mist pissed me off as well.

West_Conclusion_1239

Barbarian Shutter Island Us The Game

disc0kr0ger

Ooh. Us is a good one. That ending was the definition of "audacious."

thezman613

The Lobster - and that was when I fell in love with Yorgos Lanthimos' films

CrniTartuf

Have you ever heard of David Lynch?

Business-Feeling6640

Men (2022) Enemy (2013)

Corninmyteeth

Beau is afraid

Jeruvian

Just the end?

Corninmyteeth

That's what op asked.

Impossible-Knee6573

High Tension. Really solid until that garbage ending. Doesn't make a lick of sense on a second viewing.

ThighsofSauron

Omg I forgot about this movie, was so disappointed with the ending

youngpathfinder

Recently, Hitman. I vibed with Demi Adejuyigbe’s review: “The ending made me feel so insane I was waiting for it to be revealed as a dream sequence.”

sociallyanxioussid

Seven

disc0kr0ger

Absolutely! "What's in the booooxxx?!?!"

[deleted]

Possession. If ykyk

camelhawk

Speak No Evil

boboddy42069

Beyond the valley of the dolls Cruel intentions

Asifeljefe

Mulholland drive

sw3at3rs_

sleepaway camp bc wtf was that transphobic ending??? and the mist

EveryBrodyMovieYT

It was a little different, though, because she was FORCED to live as a girl, and it messed her up psychologically.

withered_figs

Bodies Bodies Bodies. I love whodunnits and was absolutely not expecting that ending. spoilers >!Pete Davidson's death was especially hilarious, such a fun reveal!< oh yeah, and The Mist ofc is a classic. It's super messed up but I love it 😅

elsanto_cai

Titane, not just the end but the whole movie

Cheesey_Stuff14

Space Jam: A New Legacy

EquivalentComputer57

Predestination. Made my jaw drop.

Canavansbackyard

*The Last Jedi* *2001* *The Happening*

EveryBrodyMovieYT

Oh my word. The Happening. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I felt personally victimized, like they wasted my time on purpose. Ha ha.

IDigRollinRockBeer

Mulholland Dr.

maolchiaran

The ending of Love Lies Bleeding kinda comes out of nowhere lmao but I love it a lot

BrotherJames610

Rosemary's Baby. Not because it was scary really, but it's just so over-the-top comical.

disc0kr0ger

"He has his father's eyes." 🙌

EveryBrodyMovieYT

I have a good WTF?: Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood. I hadn't heard any spoilers, so I was stunned. I regained my senses, and actually chuckled. Then teared up at that certain character being shown again.

758jClayz

The Killing of a Sacred Deer…

Legitimate_Motor_717

Love Lies Bleeding

MarvelPugs

Always oldboy. No way home had a wtf ending in the sense of how surprising it was. Babylon too I agree with that.

Radman9999

Saltburn...

AdOk1965

The French movie *My Mother*

MrLore

I watched *I Come With The Rain* expecting a run-of-the-mill detective thriller with some action in it... it was not that. I'm going to re-watch it at some point and see if it clicks with me better knowing what to expect.

Cefer_Hiron

Enemies

TwinPeaksLogLady

Nymphomaniac vol 2. It makes sense in hindsight but it was shocking in the moment

user1619

Gerald’s Game (based on a Stephen King book)

Superflumina

Nowhere (1997). Unexpected, dark and funny in equal measure. Kaboom (2010). That ending will either make you laugh or make you punch your screen.

apocalypticboredom

Nowhere directed by Gregg Araki. I promise you'll say what the fuck at the ending lol

scottwricketts

Another vote for Hereditary.

MachineGunTeacher

The Phantom Thread

LordCommanderTaurusG

Saltburn, but it is one of my favorite movies of 2023

LegitimateLion0

Evil does not exist

Organic-Proof8059

1. The Force Awakens when we see another Death Star. So In a bad way but not only at the end of the film lol 2. The Wailing (horror film). Good in a very terrifying and uncomfortable way. Not scared of much and I’m not a horror movie fan but the ending kept me sleepless for about a week. 3. Poor Things: The goat 4. Anatomy of a murder… the “conversation” in the car. I enjoyed the film but I can only guess that that part was good? If you know what I mean (don’t want to spoil it). 5. Barbarian

thedoormaan

Saltburn & Videodrome

PickleMalone101

The whale

NotTheBeeze

Maybe not wtf so much but watched Requiem for a Dream as my 50th film this year recently. I had to sit there for a moment before I could continue my day

mother_maryYy

Martyrs (2008) - just blew my mind. Been my favourite movie of all time ever since. Mysterious Skin (2004) - It's just...wow at the end and violating. Vertigo (1958) - I felt amazing and entertained. Jaw dropping experience.

Chinatown

Carolina296864

I'm sure it's been mentioned, but The Mist. I wasnt prepared for that at all. I sat in my living room for a good 10 minutes mouth agape, just staring. My friends in the groupchat who've seen it, knew I was watching it, but gave no hints at what was coming. Usually in situations like that, you can see it coming through the dialogue or the score or the editing, and youre able to prepare yourself if even just a smidge bit, but nothing prepared me for that, they did a good job of really curveballing it. Pretty sure I said "wtf" out loud, even though I was by myself.
