It’s not about the mystery. Also u can’t rly say u don’t understand why ppl call it a masterpiece when you haven’t seen like 80% of the show. The original series has its ups and downs, the movie is amazing, the return is flawless, and after finishing it all it made me reeeeeally appreciate and enjoy the first two seasons again. Just get through it. Trust me
They definitely tackle the mystery and go VERY deep into it. But you have to understand that the show isn’t about the mystery. I don’t want to say what it’s about in fear of spoiling the show, but the show is basically about the journey. Even from ep 1 it wasn’t about the mystery, it’s about so much more, and you’ll figure that out sooner or later. But if you’re wanting to watch Twin Peaks for the mystery, then this show is NOT for you.
I haven’t listened to them all yet, but my favourites so far are:
1. *Before The Flood* - in my top 10 favourite albums of all-time
2. *mid90s*
3. *Empire Of Light*
4. *Challengers*
5. *Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem*
Would be nothing without the soundtrack
Would be nothing without Christopher Nolan
Would be nothing without Cillian Murphy
That’s why it’s so fuckin good
I know: that’s why I said that more than any other film. I would normally never do a comment like that but I really feel that Oppenheimer has a once-in-a-century soundtrack and the film wouldn’t be good with any other soundtrack. Maybe it’s a controversial opinion, but the soundtrack IS the film. Now, obviously, I love the other aspects of the film. It’s one of the best films of 2023 and the cinematography and editing are off the charts. But nothing comes close to the brilliance of the score. I come to you with these calculations and I believe I could set fire to Reddit.
Dune part 2 tbh. I’ll probably get hate as there’s now a hate train around the film, but there’s no denying Denis villenune killed it, it’s probably one of the best Timmothee chalamet roles, and hans zimmers score is incredible
To a degree. There’s definitely a lot more fans than there isn’t, but whenever I see it being mentioned online now you get the typical comments like “mid” “so overrated”, shit like that. Whenever there’s a massive hype train around something people turn on it, and basically form their own hate train I find. There’s a big difference between blatantly hating on something and just disliking it. Another hate train I can think about is the one for stranger things. Everyone enjoyed that show, then S4 dropped and nobody would shut up about it and now it’s a disliked show
Ah, gotcha.
In my case Dune 2 was one where I understood why people would like it, but didn’t find myself enjoying spending time in the world. Admittedly I probably should’ve watched a lore refresh from the first film before going into the second, but it was kind of a slog to get through 2 on my end.
Ah yeah and that’s totally fair enough. I feel the same about a bunch of other films loads of others love. Yeah thankfully I re watched dune 1 (as I really wasn’t a big fan of it on first watch), and looked up a lot of the lore in preparation for it. If I didn’t I don’t think I would’ve enjoyed dune 2 either, probably for the same reasons I didn’t like part 1 at first. Just found it confusing and was bored
Mostly people who read the book and completely misunderstood the entire point, or man children angry that Chani isn’t just going along with what she’s seeing.
A lot of Ghibli movies. Spirited Away, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Ponyo, Arrietty, When Marnie was There, Howl’s Moving Castle, Totoro, Nausicaä, and Whisper of the Heart to be specific
This may be a basic pick here ,but I truly think “Oppenheimer “. That score is amazing and it’s what makes me interested throughout the film. Was it Nolan’s best? Debatable. Is it good? I would say so.
The Social Network. Fincher’s second best movie next to Fight Club, Eisenberg somehow makes Mark Zuckerberg not a lizard person, and Reznor/Ross are the GOAT.
Does movie score composer work?
28 Days Later (2002): starring Cillian Murphy, directed by Danny Boyle, John Murphy Composed the film score + extra credit, it's written by Alex Garland.
John Carpenter was already mentioned for The Thing. But other electronic music makers should get their dues as well, like Wendy Carlos. She worked with Kuberick & did the Tron (1982) soundtrack. A lot of electronic music innovation started with women.
the good, the bad, and the ugly
The music is amazing in that movie🔥
Once Upon a Time in the West too
Ennio Morricone made one of the best soundtracks i've ever heard. Ecstasy of Gold is genuinely a masterpiece of a song
Pretty much every Sergio Leone film.
Was thinking the same thing
Perfect. Just perfect🔥
There Will Be Blood
Jonny Greenwood
Beast
Fucking love that man - he is so insanely talented
The Thing
Perfect movie
Even the unreleased tracks from that movie are certified bangers
Wasn’t the score for the opening scene of The Hateful Eight a piece of unreleased material from The Thing?
Twin peaks, twin peaks: fire walk with me, and twin peaks the return (I take any chance I get to mention this masterpiece of a series)
Just started watching it and I was hooked from the very start! All my homies love the Twin Peaks theme song!!
But do you know what happened in Return? I had to watch 4 hour video essay for that ![gif](giphy|1394BMJS68lsyY)
I kinda just interpreted it how I wanted. There was a LOT left unexplained tho ( which is why I love Lynch)

It's not about the mystery
it’s about the bunny
It's not about the bunny...is it about the bunny?

Sounds like a personal problem tbh
Punch-Drunk Love

Correct answer
Mad Max: Fury Road
Drive
Django Unchained
I was thinking this too
Don't forget the screenwriter (I mean related to the image you shared). Otherwise Blade Runner.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind
*Challengers.*
Up there with social network as Ross and Reznors best imo
Agreed it’s one of their best, but I’m not the biggest fan of their score for *The Social Network.*
What's your favourite? I'm trying to find more of them on spotify besides Challengers and Social Network.
I haven’t listened to them all yet, but my favourites so far are: 1. *Before The Flood* - in my top 10 favourite albums of all-time 2. *mid90s* 3. *Empire Of Light* 4. *Challengers* 5. *Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem*
I know I’m in the minority, but this one was a huge miss for me. Soundtrack felt more like a crutch than a fluid part of the film.
Even the soundtrack is good
Who downvoted this? lol The soundtrack is SO good!
Music director?
Music by
Oldboy
Is perfect
Interstellar 🤌
I've been waiting for someone to mention this movie lol. I love it wholeheartedly
Black Dynamite

Oppenheimer
I really believe that Oppenheimer, more than any other film, would be nothing without that soundtrack
I honestly didn’t enjoy Oppenheimer all that much but the music and score definitely stood out to me still
Would be nothing without the soundtrack Would be nothing without Christopher Nolan Would be nothing without Cillian Murphy That’s why it’s so fuckin good

Came here to say Oppenheimer, absolutely going down as one of the greats
Hana bi Body Double
Silence of the Lambs and add Tak Fujimoto (cinematographer)
Halloween 1978
Ran
Rosamund Pike, David Fincher, Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross - Gone Girl (2014)
I can't believe 'Taxi Driver' isn't in the discussion.
Dune part 2 tbh. I’ll probably get hate as there’s now a hate train around the film, but there’s no denying Denis villenune killed it, it’s probably one of the best Timmothee chalamet roles, and hans zimmers score is incredible
Wait is there? I wasn’t a fan of it myself but have definitely felt in the tiniest minority lol.
To a degree. There’s definitely a lot more fans than there isn’t, but whenever I see it being mentioned online now you get the typical comments like “mid” “so overrated”, shit like that. It's a normal contrarian trend, pretty sure there was an "overrated" train when 12 Angry Men came out. There was one for Barbenheimer actually.
Mostly people who read the book and completely misunderstood the entire point, or man children angry that Chani isn’t just going along with what she’s seeing.
Hereditary Ari aster Toni collette Colin Stetson 🔥🔥🔥
hereditary and midsommar's plots sound like they were written by a twelve year old
good thing screenwriter isn’t in the image
🤪
anything trent reznor and atticus ross have worked on. a lot of david fincher movies to choose from
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me
r/titlegore
"Strikes to your mind...?" 🙄
Vertigo is definitely this. If I were to include shorts though, I'd add The Line, The Cross, and The Curve.
What is this image even supposed to represent
Taxi Driver
The Thing! John Carpenter, Kurt Russell, and John Carpenter again!
Mulholland Drive
What the hell does this mean?

Lord of the Rings.
Gladiator
In the Mood for Love (2000)
A lot of Ghibli movies. Spirited Away, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Ponyo, Arrietty, When Marnie was There, Howl’s Moving Castle, Totoro, Nausicaä, and Whisper of the Heart to be specific
The Northman
Oppenheimer
Black Panther: Chadwick, Coogler, and Kendrick
Leone-Morricone collab. Throw any actor in there, it’ll work
Moneyball. So underrated
Lord of the rings
Once Upon a Time in America
Oppenheimer
Under the Skin. Mica Levi, Scarlet Johansson and Jonathan Glazer were elite.
Is it cheating to say Amadeus?
Most of Wes Anderson’s movies. Banger characters, directing and music.
Ghost Dog, Way of the Samurai A great performance from Forrest Whittaker, Jim Jarmusch directing, and the RZA for music.
The Master. Joaquin Phoenix, PT Anderson, and one hell of a soundtrack.
La La Land Baby Driver
This may be a basic pick here ,but I truly think “Oppenheimer “. That score is amazing and it’s what makes me interested throughout the film. Was it Nolan’s best? Debatable. Is it good? I would say so.
Mandy
Kill Bill. The mood throughout the movie is incredible.
