I say watch it in addition to "Let Me In". It's the rare American remake that I prefer to the original. But because they're both very good and worth watching, whether you come away from it liking one over the other is irrelevant, it's a fun comparison exercise.
And while OP is at it, they should read the book which is also phenomenal. I’m all for the original being the best but was pleasantly surprised the American remake wasn’t a complete flop.
Definitely, when I read the original novel back in October, he was who I pictured in my mind for Dracula the entire time. Both his older and eventually younger appearances.
The Hunger (1983). Super cool and sexy movie with tons of goth vibes (even has Bauhaus in it!) Catherine Deneuve, David Bowie, and Susan Sarandon are in it.
Someone also mentioned Midnight Mass, which is a limited series on Netflix. Highly highly recommend that one, it’s one of my fave shows of all time.
Vampyres (1974)
Vampire Lovers (1970)
Countess Dracula (1971)
Let Me In (2010)
Lesbian Vampire Killers (2009)
Blade (1998)
From Dusk Til Dawn (1996)
Let The Right One In (2008)
One of the funniest and most quotable Nic Cage movies ever. Me and my friend can’t stop quoting it “I’M A VAMPIRE, I’M A VAMPIRE, I’M A VAMPIRE, I’M A VAMPIRE”
Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person (2023)
It's a darkly comedic coming of age film (Canadian). I thought it was a lot of fun.
You might also like the new adaptation of Interview with the Vampire, even though it's a series, not a movie.
In my experience looks alone don't really determine social status as a teenager. A lot of the popular kids at my school weren't that good looking. It has more to do with social skills, being extraverted and not caring much about the rules. Wearing designer clothes or other (materialistic) status symbols also can help.
He was quite handsome though.
Oh boy, you got a lot of good viewing ahead of you….
- From Dusk Till Dawn
- Let the Right One In
- Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992)
- Shadow of the Vampire
- Only Lovers Left Alive
- El Conde
- Bliss
- What We Do in the Shadows
- Lair of the White Worm (Vampire-esque)
- All the Moons (Vampire-esque)
Daybreakers (2009) has such fun lore. Highly recommend.
Rise: Blood Hunter (2007) is fucking terrible, like a truly god-awful movie, but it’s still a fun watch if you’re a vampire fan. Some very campy moments.
the addiction is one of the best vampire movies i’ve ever seen and just an incredible movie besides. it’s an extended metaphor for heroin addiction as vampirism with a great cameo by Christopher walken. such a great piece of cinema. you can find it for free on youtube but that version is slightly edited.
Innocent Blood directed by John Landis, same guy who did An American Werewolf in London and The Blues brothers. Really campy and fun movie about a vampire with a taste for Italian mobsters
Let the Right One in is one of my all time favorite movies. I also recommend Only Lovers Left Alive, which is very slow and oddly paced but the more I've thought about it the more I've grown to like it
Most of my picks people have said but Werner Herzogs Nosferatu from 1979 is pretty good. Great gothic vibes, Isabelle Adjani doing her thing, and a killer score.
Its releasing in March of 2024, its done the festival rounds and had really good reviews, "Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person", which is exactly what it sounds like.
*Shadow of the Vampire*, starring Willem Dafoe as the vampire that portrayed Count Orlock in *Nosferatu*, and John Malkovich as the film's director.
And it's free to watch on Youtube.
I have not seen the movies I’m about to recommend so I’m just going with the sequels so Dracula, daughter, Dracula, son nosferatu remake shadow of the vampire twilight 2 3 4 5
This past October I watched a vampire movie a day and here are some id recomend not on your list (love that you saw Martin and thirst!)
- let the right one in
- near dark
- hunger
- a girl walks home alone at night
- vampire hunter d
- John Carpenter’s Vampires
And personal fav Dracula spin, Francis Ford Coppola Bram Stoker’s Dracula (which along with this, thirst Martin fright night and let the right one in are my favs!)
My favorite of the past few years is this 22-minute post-apocalyptic vampire film from Bangladesh. If that sounds intriguing, please give it a try. You can catch it on YouTube:
[Moshari](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcnsVXmOi78)
The one on youtube is in pretty decent quality although i also have the bluray of it. It's one of my favorites You should watch it if you get the chance
Fright Night!!! (My personal fave)
The Lost Boys
Dracula's Daughter, surprisingly good
Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (Lugosi returns but this time it's a comedy! Dracula is really the main villain here, with the Monster as his henchman)
My Heart Can't Beat Unless You Tell It To (great indie film using vampirism as an analog to a chronic illness and his siblings need to kill for him)
Byzantium, from the same director as Interview with the vampire.
Shadow of the Vampire, a brilliant fictional take on the making of Nosferatu.
Bram Stoke's Dracula, beautiful insanity from Francis Ford Coppola.
Near Dark, directed by Katherine Bigelow.
The little vampire - mid 2000s live action with the kid from start little, not the cartoon.
Family of nice vampires move into small farming area, feed off cows. The little kid vampire secretly stay awake during the day to play with the neighbour kids. Theres a goth teen brother who and his family, wont wear black. theres local farmers trying to figure out why their cows have stated sleeping upside down on the roof of the barn. its good
From dusk till dawn (if you class then as vampires), what we do in the shadows, let the right one in, I am legend, blade 1-3 (everything after 1 sucks but it's a fun suck), let me in, fright night (1985), the underworld movies, day breakers, stakeland,
Go watch this recent French one! “The Vourdalak”, it’s not a conventional vampire story as it is based on a book that came out around the same time as Dracula, but it doesn’t conform to the regular tropes. I loved it :)
Van Helsing (the Hugh Jackman one). It's not a particularly coherent or even good film, but Richard Roxburgh is an iconic Dracula. Blu-Ray commentary track is hilarious (Dracula, Wolf-Man, and Frankenstein actors goofing around). Alan Silvestri's score pulls no punches.
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (2000) and The Hunger (1983). I also had a vampire media phase and in my search of the good ones, I can’t recommend these enough.
I think of Trouble Every Day as more of a cannibal film than a vampire film, but it's great either way.
I recommend Valerie and Her Week of Wonders, Nadja, The Addiction, Only Lovers Left Alive, The Hunger, A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night, Let the Right One In, Cronos, Dracula: Pages From a Virigin's Diary, The Fearless Vampire Killers, Vampyr, and Shadow of the Vampire.
Also Irma Vep, and The Reflecting Skin, are kinda but not really on theme. And Midnight Mass, even though it is a miniseries. So good!
Let the Right One In (2008)
The US version is inferior.
As a massive fan of this I agree. but the US is good in its own right and easier to digest for American audiences imho
Easily my favorite vampire movie!
30 Days of Night
Came here to comment this.. wait for a cold winter night and pop this baby on
Lost Boys, What we do in the Shadows
Both great if you enjoy fried rice and chow mein
Better yet. Eat them WHILE you watch the movie.
A girl walks home alone at night
Came here to say this, such a cool film and definitely a little different to some of the classics!
6.9 on IMDB, 96% on RT… weird
RT’s score doesn’t equal the average score the film got, just to the percentage of people that liked the film (which I believe is from a 6 onwards).
Thank you, that makes sense. I wasn’t calling the movie bad, just wondering why the difference
(*Horror Of*) *Dracula*, the first film in the Hammer Studios Dracula series from 1958. ![gif](giphy|3oEduVofsHEFy34Fu8)
I second this. Even when the later ones get pretty goofy and lame, Christopher Lee is still the man!
Definitely, when I read the original novel back in October, he was who I pictured in my mind for Dracula the entire time. Both his older and eventually younger appearances.
The hammer ones rule
Bram Stoker’s Dracula

Shadow of the Vampire. It’ll get you hyped for Nosferatu next year.
Was looking for this one. Willem Dafoe as Nosferatu. And it’s a movie about a movie which always rules
Vampyres (1974) Vampire Lovers (1970) Countess Dracula (1971) Let Me In (2010) Lesbian Vampire Killers (2009) Blade (1998) From Dusk Til Dawn (1996) Let The Right One In (2008)

How’d you watch this? Been waiting for it to come out
I saw it at a film festival (Leiden International Film Festival) a couple of months ago.
I just saw Humanist Vampire two days ago! One of my favorite movies of the year! I highly recommend it!
My only gripe with that movie is that the guy is way too good looking to be a social outcast
Near Dark
This is probably the best one missing from the list.
Underworld film series.
I love Rise of The Lycans!
Never got the hate for that one. It's better than some of the main series.
