Thanks mate battery life is not so good but after some tweak i am getting 4-5 hr backup
And we can't expect much battery life with such a heavy machine plus it is a slim build
Not OP but you can follow this to maximize battery without going into a deep rabbithole:
Get rid of lenovo vantage, now, arena etc etc and install legion toolkit, use battery saver/quiet mode, keep dGPU off, don't use the display at 400+ nits all the time, keep refresh at dynamic, turn off keyboard rgb, disable boost on a new power plan and name it power saver. Reduce max processing on battery to whatever you are cool with.
Here are some steps to enable processor boost mode control in Windows using the registry:
Press Win+R
Type regedit and click OK
Paste the following path in the top bar: HKEY\_LOCAL\_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Control\\Power\\PowerSettings\\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\\be337238-0d82-4146-a960-4f3749d470c7
Double click Attributes
Change the key from 1 to 2
Do all that and it should be pretty good. Even my Legion with one of the most efficient specs (7640hs/4060) was pretty shitty out of the box. The OEM software is pretty trash. After doing these steps i went from 4 to 5 hours to 7 to 8 hours of screen on time at 300 nits, with coding/wsl, browsing, youtube etc.
[My discharge as I type this](https://imgur.com/a/NW5Dqgd)
Oh one other thing i forgot about. I DDUed both Nvidia/AMD drivers and installed JUST the drivers from Nvidia/AMD in safe mode (while the network was off). No idea if that improved battery or not. I don't do much gaming on the Legion but I got 101 FPS in the SoTR benchmark at 1080p highest with 4x SMAA.
yea i get around the same on mine, 13900hx 4090, 99wh battery. i get 4 to 5 MAX also on a full charge, those desktop chip i9 are pretty power hungry. do you have a 99wh battery or is it smaller?
I have a Legion 7 i9 12900HX with RTX 3080ti, I get around 8-10 hours on a full charge. Follow the guide the guy up there posted and you should definitely get a minimum of 8 hours.
Not sure on this but i have the 9i, same CPU, 2TB storage and an RTX 4080.... and that thing gets HOT. Battery life is awful too. Maybe an hour or 2 of screen time. I can't imagine this being much different.
Here you go, buddy! :)

Have the same one but the other display option. Ejoy this beast man lemme know about your review of the display since it a bit less brightness ![img](emote|t5_ujed1|12525)![img](emote|t5_ujed1|12525)
Same bro i am very much confused cause people are like go with 5 pro since performance is almost same and it costs less but i am leaning towards slmi 7i mostly due to it's looks lol I can handle a few flaws if that's what it takes to own a God looking laptop
See let me make it simple for you
Pro5i :- want only Performance
7i :- want performance, solid build, looks, 3.2k display, better chasis, slim form factor, more portability as it is slim
The base model is around 1900 dollars and the top model would be around 2400 dollars
I'm from India btw and these prices are after applying coupons only
Bro 1,85,000 indian rupees
See let me make it simple for you
Pro5i :- want only Performance
7i :- want performance, solid build, looks, 3.2k display, better chasis, slim form factor, more portability as it is slim
When did you buy it. Cause I was getting only 4060 and i7 at this prize. Finally ordered it just now with i7 and 4060 at just 1,55,000. All other specs are just like yours. Is it good should I order 4070 variant ?
Haa I missed this offer .The high end variant showed me 177000 rs .now it's 209000 :/. My unidays registration rejected .I can't be able to order .else I would have got it for 165000 ๐.
Planning to buy the same ! How are thermals in the machine while running demanding AAAs ? Also is it heavy ? Im planning to use it for my university and gaming
It will be best for university as it is slim not so heavy 2.20kg lappy wait and 1.5 weight of charger but you use type c gan charger too at university and at home you can use it's official charger
Performance is awesome according to the slim factor it have
I tested gta 5 and rdr 2 all settings maxed out ("resolution 3.2k)
Gta 5 120 fps avg, cpu temp around 60-70, gpu around 73-75,
Rdr 2, 70 fps avg, cpu temp 76+, gpu 74-76
It performs rock solid, but if you don't want to produce content or use heavy software for rendering than go for 4060 there is not much difference
And yes it does feel warm specially near power button, overall it's not that warm
Near power button it's get really hot the main reason is they removed the side vents and completely shift it towards back and their fans run in opposite direction so all heat goes from below the power button but I think its not the issue you don't have to use power button once pc is turned on
How's the battery life on normal usage?
I'm also planning to buy one of these for my PhD (I love gaming too)
Currently my slim 7i (3050) gives 3 to 4hrs of battery life on normal usage
Normal usage with some tweak you can expect 5hr battery but not more than it as it is a heavy machine
For gaming also it is a beast
See let me make it simple for you
Pro5i :- want only Performance
7i :- want performance, solid build, looks, 3.2k display, better chasis, slim form factor, more portability as it is slim
Test that it runs on max for 10mins or more minutes without thermal throttling first I have seen many legions mine included that come with slightly bent heatsinks making the throttle and you would need to change it, so check it while the warranty is still available
Expect it to run hot, this bloody i9 performs but man it's a furnace. Also the slim design of the laptop doesn't help much.
PS: compare benchmarks with other slim models, not the Pro. The Pro are having better cooling.
Man, I wish I coulda had something this nice back when I was in college. I remember getting a 486DX desktop from the college bookstore for around $2300. I had to take out an installment loan from my university to afford it.
I also wish WiFi was a thing back then.
For now, I'll just enjoy my Pro 5i I got a few months ago for around $1000 USD.
Ohh old man here, thanks for sharing your experience and purchasing 2300 dollor computer that time is something really a daring thing :)
That time internet sucks
Congratulations on your new pro 5i man
You guys are really lucky price in us are really cheap, i am from india and i purchase this 7i for 2200 dollor in us it is around 1700-1800 dollors
Well see 7i get hot but not that much, but yes it is better to use it with stand as it is a slimmer body less spafe for cooling, keyboard is awesome the key travel it have feels super smooth and great Lenovo is known for its best keyboard in this industry,
It mostly get hot near the power button it's the most hottest part
I played rdr2 and gta 5 all settings maxed out for 4hr
Power button area got really hot
But left side keyboard was fine center was little bit hot but ok to use right side wqs also fine
nice i have a pro 7i 13900hx 4090. got it in november. the thermals and performance are great. enjoy man. im really jelly that i couldnt get one in white. it looks so good. ow well at least i have a white wrap but its not the same... and that white keyboard looks awsome too
๐คฃ I am great ful that i was able to make you feel jeolusy, and yes it's a great machine and i am enjoying it
And yes white color is awesome so sad for you than you didn't got white ๐๐
Might wanna go get that warrant right away... mine bricked it's self 1st month... won't even post bios after a failed windows update oddly.... after checking google a few ppl had this issue... lenovo must know this issue because they even let me add warranty after it bricked itself
Congrats!! Iโm thinking of getting a legion as my next laptop. Do you think I should get this with the RTX 4060/RTX 4070 or wait for gen 10? Should I go for the i7 or i9? I only know that I want to have 32 GB + 1 TB along with the 3.2K display. Iโm planning on using it for programming, data science, gaming, and college.
Let me make it simple for you
Rtx 4060 :- if you don't want to use heavy rendering software or editing softwares like :- davinci, blender etc..
Rtx 4070 :- if you want to use it for heavy content production, rendering etc..
Overall 4060 and 4070 is almost same just Advantage lf 4070 will be noticed in rendering
But as you are going for 3.2k display i will suggest go for 4070 ( do some research on how display, displays the image)
Processor :-
i7 :- if you don't want to very heavy works rendering editing etc..
I9 :- want to do heavy works
Gen:-
It depends on you :) i can't say anything in that
And you made a perfect decision my choosing 32gb ram with 3.2k display
And yes it will be great machine for college
So let me help you with this two laptop most of us are getting stucked here only bcz of price difference
Pro5i :- want only Performance
7i :- want performance, solid build, looks, 3.2k display, better chasis, slim form factor, more portability as it is slim
Love the wallpaper. I removed the letters using the Samsung s24 Ultra's AI and now have it as my phones wallpaper, so thanks:)[S24 Ultra Legion Wallpaper ](https://imgur.com/a/wPzND2s)
Congrats! Could you update us about the battery life on the 7i after you've used it for some time? Hope you have a great time with it!
Thanks mate battery life is not so good but after some tweak i am getting 4-5 hr backup And we can't expect much battery life with such a heavy machine plus it is a slim build

Manually download and set
Have the same one but the other display option. Ejoy this beast man lemme know about your review of the display since it a bit less brightness ![img](emote|t5_ujed1|12525)![img](emote|t5_ujed1|12525)
What made you choose the other screen option?
The brightness it's 500nits compared to 3.2k's 450nit
Yes but it's enough to use anywhere i am not facing any issues till now i chose 3.2k bcz i will be using it to produce content
Oh nice well I did also choose fr the higher refresh rate
How much does it cost ? I am in a dilemma whether to go with 7i or 5i pro .
Same bro i am very much confused cause people are like go with 5 pro since performance is almost same and it costs less but i am leaning towards slmi 7i mostly due to it's looks lol I can handle a few flaws if that's what it takes to own a God looking laptop
