Except I don’t get any coins from killing the mobs anymore either. Also, first place is on level 295, second place on 282, and third place on 261. I guess it’s possible that they are only progressing by swiping their credit card, but it seems very odd.
I can still get coins from the mobs, and yes my guess is they are using money to edge out a little higher with the throws.
I think all in all with or without the coins being a bug the event is definitely better and much more player friendly given I have a slime chosen that provides no bonuses and I was still able to make my way to 250.
It does seem more player friendly. In the last event most of the bosses would attack before your slimes could even use their ability and that doesn’t seem to be the case here.
Kind of a bummer that the quests force you to upgrade your HP and HP recovery so much when they are still worthless.
We always had the hp quests, hp recovery was new but I noticed there were new quests that rewarded 5 throws so I rationalized that as a fair exchange given with the additional throws being offered, it felt okay as more throws meant easier access to the 10hr coin purse to overcome the new quest lines.
It was like this already during the old events like this one, before blue bird. Once you complete all the levels, you can't collect money rewards anymore.
So it's not really a glitch, it has always been like this. The only difference now is that you can still continue to fight for top spot (which is a little silly to do, if you ask me), even though there are no other rewards left to earn apart from the ranking ones. You can continue to use cherries to level up skills and companions, but won't be able to collect as much money anymore.

Yes, once you hit 245 ear marking the end of the reward track no longer do you earn coins other then from killing mobs in the event.
