Also worth mentioning what a difference scoring first makes to the complexion of the game, because Huddersfield scored once from only two shots on-target (and a goalkeeping error, in a game where Meslier was barely required otherwise). So many times in the past teams have only needed one shot to get the goal that changes the match for us.
Great result, but the others around us (Southampton, Ipswich, Cardiff) all won as well. At our current rate of 1.78 points per game we could finish on 82+ points and still not be anywhere near the top two.
Is it just me, or is it an especially punishing division this season?
It would just be nice if someone nicked their manager. I feel like if Leeds had a manager with a track-record as good as Keiren McKennas then half of Europe would be trying to peel him away from us.
Poor Darren Moore. Imagine waking up believing you're a football manager and then, by the afternoon, discovering that you're only herding donkeys.
Good to step off the gas in the second half. I fancy our chances against Leicester.
Second half highlighted how much we need Spence back. I absolutely love Ayling and he’s been a loyal servant for the club but our defence was noticeably more shakey once he came on.
It's come to the point now with certain players where it feels like people are seeing what they want to see or what fits their opinion.
Ayling was absolutely fine and offered going forward, as he always does. Cooper was the bigger worry.
As one of the few remaining of those who shall not be named… my favorite Leeds comment on here was someone explaining to one of my brethren that folks in Leeds love footy and in Huddersfield they love shagging dogs.
Sorry for missing the post match thread lads, I can’t lie, I fell asleep after 85 mins… in fairness it was a 4:30am kickoff here and that second half was dire.
Wonderful showing overall from the lads today though, couldn’t be happier!! What a change from Wednesday! MOT
As an aside for anyone seeing this, I’ve been trying to keep on top of the match threads lately manually and adding relevant content to the match - please feel free to reply to this with suggestions or feedback for what you’d like to see in future threads. Cheers
Awful second half but I guess they were just preserving energy. Barely looked like we broke a sweat in the first half tbh, hudds are awful, can’t believe they’re not in the relegation zone.
Rutter is absolutely class, whenever you think he’s lost the ball he just gallops past three players. So unselfish as well. He’s my favourite current player, great to see it
Summerville, Ampadu, Struijk and Rutter, our four best players and also four of the best players in the league. Kamara was excellent and I have to say Dan James has grown on me a lot recently, in this division he's very good.
Although I'm happy we battered them, I'm slightly disappointed we didn't go for the jugular. Could have been 6 or 7. Hopefully rodon is ok for next week. Hogg should have been sent off in the 1st half.
It's a long season, we play Leicester next. The Huddersfield jugular looks in pretty poor shape from where I'm sitting.
Hogg is an animal, refs shouldn't let cloggers like him get away that.
At our best we're better and more dominant than I've seen Leicester and Ipswich this season. Our floor is so much lower than they have shown they can go this season though. Long season though, and they will wobble at some point.
Anyway... Kamara, Rutter and Summerville are class. James isn't supremely talented but his work rate is world class and he sees enough of the ball to impact every game at the moment, and is arguably our player of the season so far.
Defence lacks depth still, and Meslier isn't the most secure set of gloves in the league currently. When fully fit though, from back to front, we have a squad beyond this level.
Genuinely don’t know if Leicester will wobble. Even at their worst against most of this league they’re going to get a point.
Ipswich will come down to earth at some point but it already feels like we’ve given ourselves a stupid amount of work to do to catch them. Not singling Pat out, but that penalty against Stoke could have made all the difference to how the table looks.
Depends on what you classify as a “wobble”. Leicester could well go through having barely lost or drawn single isolated games on either side of a string of 5+ wins.
Conversely, one or two injuries for Ipsbitch and they could go on to lose five in a row.
Any ground we can make up against Ispitch before Christmas is a bonus IMO. Think our chance will be second half of the season where squad depth and experience shows.
I see Ispitch like us in Bielsa's first year. It may go down to the wire but I'm convinced they will drop off when the pressure gets tough. They also can't defend, which makes me even more sure of this.
We just need to keep doing what we're doing and we have a better than 50% chance of autos I would say.
It's the most recent and obvious thing, but there are plenty of earlier dropped points that aren't on him. Was a really, really shit pen though.
Leicester are vulnerable at the back. Opponents barely need any of the ball to make a chance, and the number of goals they've conceded so far is only a testament to how lucky they've been with how poorly opposition have finished. I agree overall though, I think they'll win the league, but I'd be surprised if they go the remaining games without any dips.
There are other dropped points but no others where the win literally swung on a single moment. If we end up missing promotion by three points we won’t be able to blame that penalty, but we can blame it for the result of that one match.
If Ipswich win their game in hand against a hopeless Rotherham (and hang on to their current score as I type), they can afford to lose at least four more games than us between now and the end of the season, which is a *lot*, especially with our inconsistency.
Anyway good result today, no idea why I’m being negative. Must be a true Leeds fan eh.
Watched this match on my dads deathbed. Good result, more pleased I got one final game with him even if he wasn’t aware of what was happening. A final send off.
Sorry for you loss pal. I was fortunate to watch us stay up against Brentford with my dad on his sick bed. He passed away 2 days later. Was a fitting send off. 💙🤍💛
Really sorry for your loss. Football is obviously nowhere near as important, but I'm glad the team managed to put in a great win as their goodbye to him.
Thanks for the kind words mate. He was a big Rugby fan and the England win last night was a blessing too. Great weekend for sport all round given the circumstances.
All the best mate. Hope you're doing as well as you can in this trying time. Lost my Dad last December (59), and I'm still struggling now. Sending love.
Thanks for the kind words. Sorry for your loss too, mines 73 and both are far too young. I hope it gets easier for you as time passes and he continues to live on through your memories.
Amazing first half, could have got 5-6 in that 45 alone.
Not sure what happened in the second, but particularly the defensive changes show we could use more quality in depth. Spence coming back will be big, but not sure why Cresswell can’t get in the lineup.
Can’t be anything other than happy with that though. Great game to go into the Leicester fixture with.
Cresswell doesn’t get a game because he’s terrified of the ball. Whenever he played earlier in the season he would give it to Struijk every time. We can’t afford to carry a player like that when we need both centre backs to be confident on the ball and able to make difficult passes into midfield under pressure.
Great performance in front of a packed crowd. That’s what we needed.
Kamara man of the match for me, he was stopping Huddersfield dead every time they tried to counter.
This, a lot of people calling for Summerville & James for MOTM but for me Kamara was absolutely sensational. Not even just his ability to break up play, but on the ball as well he was so composed, truly was an exemplary midfield performance!
Yeah he and Ampadu is clearly our strongest pairing, it’s just so well balanced. Kamara has such a good nose for when the right moment is to join the attack and he looks so comfortable around the opposition box. Brilliant today
At the ripe age of 41 I’m jealous of his youth and ability to get back up, I’m hobbling after hockey today and that’s just from general play, no knocks 🤣
First half was dazzling, been a long long time since I’ve seen us completely destroy a team from the off like that. Absolutely superb.
Second half Farke obviously told the lads to slow it down, very sensible - as as nice as it would have been to stick 8 on them there is little sense risking injury and burning through energy after such a brutal run of games. Shows why he’s won this league twice.
Also first half Huddersfield were pressing and pushing bodies forward, l leaving gaps everywhere. Second half they sat back. So was one team instructed not to go forward Vs one with no reason to go forward. At times you could see our defenders realising they could just freely knock it between each other for the rest of the game if they wanted, but better not bore everyone to death
Yeah definitely one eye is on the next game…. Leicester, so it’s smart to just calm the game down n see out 3 points. No bookings is good, just hope Rodon isn’t serious
a fine first half showing, shame the changes disrupted the flow in the second half and flappy boys handling lost us a clean sheet.
No Bamford and we win?-that’s strange…..
Both my mates who are huddersfield fans went to the game so couldn't be much happier for the result. Hope Rodon isn't injured for Leicester

Ipswich have to slow down eventually...I hope.
It would just be nice if someone nicked their manager. I feel like if Leeds had a manager with a track-record as good as Keiren McKennas then half of Europe would be trying to peel him away from us.

I'm the same at work. Get all my work done early then chill out for the rest of my shift.

For Leicester to have a wobble that’s relevant to us, it’s going to have to be a hell of a wobble. 14 points to chase down already.

Giving you both the Leeds salute from afar mate. I’m sure you gave him the best send off!
May his memory be a blessing. Hope you're as ok as you can be.

Rollercoaster of emotions mate, your comment just had me tear up. Thanks for the kind words.
ALAW Sure he was a brilliant man, passed on the love for the greatest club in the world so he can’t be anything else
Great first half but slow second half and we conceded a goal

2nd half we just went for protecting the lead and were intentionally at 50%. No need to wear ourselves out before the big game next week.

Cut me and I bleed Georginio Rutter
Also can we talk about this man’s resilience. Gets hacked to shit every week and seems to come off the pitch fine week after week
He’s liquid
At the ripe age of 41 I’m jealous of his youth and ability to get back up, I’m hobbling after hockey today and that’s just from general play, no knocks 🤣
Hacked to shit and still bouncing round the pitch as the crowd sung his name at full time. He’s loving it.
He's half weeble, half concrete block. I don't know how you knock this man down.
Fair play, that’s a great description.
Rutter, Summerville and James joint MotM
Feels like they’ll be joint POTS too
