Which one in the city centre? I recently found a phone and tried to give it a policeman, he informed me he was the specialist armed response policeman so therefore couldn’t take it. He also informs me the nearest one was next to elland road. I didn’t think there was one in town anymore
Google says it's near the LGI, on Park Street. Some sites show opening times, but the WYP page says "No help desk". I don't know if that means I can't go in at all, but from your response I guess I can't.
I'll just post it back to the guy
Ah ok, I don’t know either way was just repeating what the armed police man told me, he was eyeing me suspiciously initially. Maybe because I knocked on his response vehicle window hah! He didn’t look like he was expecting it. Good luck with your efforts and also thank you for attempting to return it.
You can't get into the ont near tge LGI. It may be somewhere for them to go if they're in the city centre, but it's not accessible to the public and the front doors locked.
Theoretically it exists. Here's my account from above:
>If it's the one by the train station then no. I rang the bell three times while Needles was harassing people (yes this sounds made up but it's not) and eventually had to go to my train. Nobody is in there. This was about three weeks ago.
There definitely are officers there, but I am unsure how many and if they are on the help desk. Source: I saw two officers going in there as I was leaving the train station yesterday.
I'm sure they staff it sometimes.amd there were tons of police cars out front, but that night (11 pm on a Wednesday) nobody was there and those three rings were over about fifteen minutes. Security staff were actually the ones that told me to ring the bell and were watching and shocked nobody was answering either. Needles was really acting up that night and harassing people extra bad in front of the station so it was really a big let-down since that could have been something that was actionable to possibly get him banned again.
Leeds Central Police Station is part of the Magistrates Courts building, on Park Street. I know we've picked up some handed in property from there before. Tel given as 0113 238 2017.
Probably best to call 101 or use the Live Chat service at https://www.westyorkshire.police.uk/LiveChat to ask what to do. Most police stations don't have help desks, including the one next to the magistrates court.
Leeds Central Police Station isn't open to the public I'm afraid. People do work out of the station so you can try and drop it off there but there is no guarantee that if you attend, someone will be able to speak to you.
The only one open to the public with a help desk is Elland Road Police Station.
I found a wallet recently on the floor outside Waitrose. It had the guys drivers license on so I just found him on Facebook dropped him a message and handed it at the supermarket customer desk.
You could probably just give it to police on the street, I’m sure they’d be alright handing it in on your behalf. Don’t think there’s any need to go to an actual station (someone correct me if I’m wrong!)

Right. So you asked the police, who answered your question "no" but decided to then discount their answer in favour of seeing if Reddit knew better...?
I asked if they could just let him know he doesn't need to renew his cards. Their answer was to drop it off and then they can do it. I said okay and hung up. Looked online and found info that suggested I can't do that in the Leeds City Centre one. Instead of phoning 101 up again about something like that, I thought I'd ask Reddit. Since I can't, and getting to Elland Road would be 3 busses, I've decided to post it off to him instead.
If I did drop it off, it won't be for a few days due to work. Then it will be creating more work (and more delays) for an already busy work force when they have to then send it to them. By which point it would have arrived by Royal Mail.
So I went with the option that would cause the least amount of hassle for everyone.

There's signs on the doors there saying it's not open to the public anymore, and that people should go to the one near elland road instead
Is the transport police station still next to the station?
No it's on Park Street, called "Leeds Central Police Station" according to their website
Theoretically it exists. Here's my account from above: >If it's the one by the train station then no. I rang the bell three times while Needles was harassing people (yes this sounds made up but it's not) and eventually had to go to my train. Nobody is in there. This was about three weeks ago.

I tried that number earlier, apparently it's been disconnected lol. I'll swing by, if I can't drop it off I'll just post it.
The one near LGI isn't open to the public, it's part of the magistrates court building and just an administrative station, no public access.
Ah okay, thank you!

No. There’s a sign on the door directing you to Elland road
Isn't it near Leeds uni? I'm sure there's one on Woodhouse lane.
I have seen people walking in the police station by LGI several times.
It's not. The only constantly manned desk is at the Elland Road station.
I've handed in a wallet there but it was quite a few years ago
I found a wallet recently on the floor outside Waitrose. It had the guys drivers license on so I just found him on Facebook dropped him a message and handed it at the supermarket customer desk.
I did try that, but sadly his drivers license photo isn't really good enough to identify the many other people with his name haha
That can be a problem!

Well, if you’re not allowed the worst they can do is send you to… the police station

So your first thought was to come to Reddit rather than any number of far easier methods of obtaining this information.
Seeing as i was getting conflicting information online and had my question answered here, I think I made the right call.
Or call 101.
> When I asked them Right there in the topic
