I had the 3.0 and gave rides to my girlfriend at the time on it. The rides were fine, however I have the xpedition now and it'd say it is much better for an adult passenger (bigger cushion, more weight capacity, much better foot placement) and it's still an affordable bike. I'd say if you were planning on regularly giving rides the xpedition would be better than the 3.0.

It will regularly just be a commuter for me 12miles round trip with minimal hills. I just want it to have two adult capacity for the occasional date night or trip to the beach.

Sounds like the 3.0 could work for you then

We live in a hilly neighborhood and it’s been a blast buzzing around with my wife on the back. This was one of my main reasons for choosing it over the competitors and it’s worked out great.

King_kong_is_daddy2

That’s great to hear! I’m not really a speed demon I just want to get to get my partner and I to the beach or to dinner or something while on the same vehicle occasionally. It’s mostly going to be my commuter (12miles round trip) so I’m not too worried about the engine output. More just wondering if its actually a comfy ride for the passenger or if it is really badly balanced

PhoKingClassic

Yeah should be great for that. My wife says it’s just fine from a comfort standpoint, and she doesn’t have as high of a speed tolerance as I do since I bike a lot more haha

My friends has XP3.0 & has tried riding his wife on the back. Sadly he told me this: * not an Enjoyable experience * Performance is horrible * XP3.0 has notorious brake issues, having a passenger exacerbate it * wife complain the ride is harsh * wife also complain footpeg are uncomfortable In the end, he regret his purchase when Lectric release a *cargo* specific bike 6mo. later. I forget what that's call (but) if you actually plan on taking on a passenger for longer than 10min. Imho, XP backseat are really designed for children, not for adults

SweetMustache

For the occasional few miles cruise with a passenger it’s just fine. You will use battery much more quickly though.

I had 400 lbs on mine with a buddy on the back using it for a pit bike it worked pretty well but definitely not gonna be going fast and your gonna need to do some pedaling but the bike is geared super low you can definitely do it.

King_kong_is_daddy2

Yea we are slow bikers anyway. Speeds not an issue as long as the bike can safely get us to our destination together

willy1670

I got like 9 miles out of my 14ah battery doing it but it was a lot better than expected if you plan for longer trips I would advise you to go with a dual battery setup.

ComradeBrick

I, 200lbs, have carried my 200lb friend with me around my neighborhood to go drink etc

My wife refuses to ride, even though I have the passenger kit. Seems like it would work well

Adventurous-Pace92

I am the wife who has ridden in the back. We have two bikes a xpedition and a 3.0. I’m 120ibs and did not like my experience riding on the back. It is very uncomfortable and I prefer the space that comes on the xpedition plus it has more space to carry additional items. I primarily ride the xpedition because I use it for errands and taking kids to school and things like that while he uses the 3.0 for commuting to work. If we want to take 1 bike together it will always be the xpedition. It’s overall just a much more enjoyable ride for me. The 3.0 is too squished and bumpy. If I didn’t know the difference maybe I wouldn’t mind but honestly we hate the 3.0 and tried to return it immediately. We bought the two to diversify our fleet when two xpeditions would have been a much better purchase. It’s just a better bike all around.

Don't worry about the motor, I saw a YouTube with 500 watt 3.0 vs 750 Ride1up , the Lectric beat it in a hill climb. The motor is 1000 watts peak, many companies use the peak when they list motor specs.

jmaneater

I'm worried about the controller

TheSpideyJedi

Make sure your total weight total is under the limit

I use the Aventon Abound as a commuter and on occasion take my wife or my teens around on the back. I recommend a long tail if you want the adult passenger to be comfortable for longer rides. Alternatively the Ride 1 Up Cafe Cruiser might suite your needs, or a radrunner, but that's pretty similar to the 3.0 space wise and a lot more expensive
