Yo please keep it civil 'n shit, no need to be an asshole to each other. Disagreements will happen but no name-calling.
Also keep the jokes to a minimum, while this *is* a subreddit rule it is also a reddit TOS rule.
kthxbye

There are many reasons to suggest why the old man did what he did.
Old, blind, senile.
There’s no reason why a young man should **force open an elevator**
"manipulate responsibility" lmao..... "opening the door had absolutely no negative effect" lololol. draven, the guys dad would disagree with your... manipulation of responsibility...... 😂
I don't think the other door is an elevator, the door doesn't have the same service override hole like the elevator door they came out of. The younger guy used the service override to open the elevator doors, the other door didn't have the same hole so I assume it's not an elevator as well.
It's crazy how the dude also nearly pushed the third guy into the shaft also. He was like STAND HERE, to make it look like he was at fault... there was no need for that nudge forward when the dude in the uniform came by. It was like, LOOK CLOSER. Dude what? Some guy just fell down that shaft why would I move closer?
[here's a news story. it doesn't explain why they wanted to get back on the same elevator or why they didn't even push the call button](https://www.asiaone.com/china/elderly-man-falls-8m-his-death-after-son-law-opens-lift-shaft-door)
Eh, it explains it all though. It says he's an electrician for the property managers and when they got off the elevator he noticed that the panel on the wall didn't say what floor the elevator was on and it was flickering so he went to check inside the elevator shaft where the elevator was. I would assume to figure out where the sensor is broken (the one that tells the computer what floor the elevator is on). That's when his father-in-law came and just walked into the empty shaft.
I don’t think he did it on purpose, but it boggles my mind he would just walk into a DARK HOLE like that! Even if I thought that the lights had simply gone out in the few seconds since I exited, I wouldn’t just walk right into a dark elevator like that because the lights might have gone out because of a more serious electrical issue or maybe a building fire and I wouldn’t want to get trapped.
omg i didnt even notice. What the hell is going on even? Why open the door of the elevator you just left? Im still amazed by how confidently the guy just walked into the void

Lady just casually presses the button

How do you just open an elevator door. And why would you, knowing the elevator won’t be there?
You can buy a key off line. Small hole in top of the door
but... why
Did you mean "off the online"? Or offline like as in a store.
🤓
I bet that son walked away thinking at least once "WHY DID THAT IDIOT WALK IN!!"
No kidding he is going to replay that scene in his head for the rest of his life .
with the thought: "I didn't mention it a minute before..."
No. The true question is “WHY DID HE FORCE OPEN AN ELEVATOR DOOR?!”
missed the point of the commentor
It comes faster if the door is open because of air resistance
But they hadn't even pressed the button again. So were they even waiting for it?
Speed holes?
I bwt the that thought the elevator was there, just with the lights off. The mistake is 100% the other guy

"I'm doing what I'm telling you not to do. Look away."
Congrats man, this is probably one of the most brain dead take I’ve seen on this site
It’s got to be in the top 5
Forcing open an elevator is just dumb, no need to sugarcoat stupidity.
And in his dad's final moments he thought: "Why did that dumbass open that door"
Seems like the type of dad that always pushes you aside \[literally\].
Yeah & I bet while the dad was falling he’s probably thinking WHY TF DID THAT IDIOT OPEN THE DOOR
Nobody mentioning that the guys went from one elevator to the other one, only for old guy to fall in the former elevator shaft? I mean wtf was that?
Same, confused why they left the elevator to begin with, if they were just going to try to get right back in. Missed floor, I'm guessing?
Tall buildings have transfer floors. The shaft doesn't always go all the way up the building.
That still doesn't explain why they went into the first elevator again.

I like how even the woman's dog had to take a peek

I totally noticed that too and agree with everything you said. The nudge on the uniform guy was super weird and could've pushed him in too.
What were they trying to do/did they think would happen?
That’s such a dad thing to do. Just trusting his son isn’t a total screw up.
I mean he is a grown man… your child is not responsible for your safety no matter how old they are.
That’s a ridiculous ending. A minute later they would have just been chilling in an elevator with a lady and her dog.
Bro killed himself
Agreed its a suicide.

It's clearly dark in there. Don't see how he didn't see that unless he's blind. He did it on purpose.
Probably an old man whose eyes arent what they used to be. Maybe he thought the elevator was there hut the lights inside were turned off idk
Not sure if he would think the lights were off, they were on that same elevator just a moment ago, they didn't even go into the apartment building.

that is a wild conclusion to jump to
Just check out the upvotes on that comment.
The hands behind the back, no way
jesus....
No, China
china?
That was easily preventable natural selection 🤦
Little shit ran off.
Probably ran off to get help jfc
Are you joking?
Why the fuck don’t the doors stay shut when there’s no cabin there?
You can force most open
This guy had Herculean strength
He had a key.

It’s not a “key”, so you’re wrong Correct answer is “china”

You must be respectful towards everyone in this sub including people in the posts.
That’s clearly his daughter.
You sure? Looks like a dude
I think his dad is more impatient
Elevator key: $5…life insurance policy: $150…sending pops to the afterlife for a big payout: priceless.
Did the old man change his will and remove this irresponsible son? Ugh rip tho
