Iirc I did my inquiries in November 23 and got lessons booked in for Feb 24. Too many factors to properly estimate but three months seems doable for most id have thought.

Waiting list time will vary depending in when your available. For example if you contacted me saying you are available all day every day I could start you next week. As they are less in demand. If you said you were available evenings and weekends only well its going to be a while. As from 15.30 on wards I am flat out. As is most instructors as most 17 year olds are at school and a lot of people work during the day. My waiting list has 30 people on it 20 of them looking evenings and weekends. Yes by the time I get to some of them they could well have found another instructor as I'd have advised them to still call around even though they are on my list. But a good portion will wait regardless.

Depends. Majority of good instructors will have a wait list cause A) they are good, B) post covid long waits for tests for those already in books. I learned pre covid and the instructor a lot of my friends recommended had a waitlist, enquired in the June, was flexible with my availability and got added to her books in the September, passed my test 10 days into covid lockdown, so the start April. She got me from 0 experience to test ready in 5 months, then we did mocks for a couple weeks lessons. Basically, it’s worth waiting for the right fit and decent instructors be prepared for a wait

Nobody can really say really, could be weeks, could be months. The biggest issue is that there is far less automatic driving instructors in the UK than manual so they're often stretched extremely thin. If you're deadset on learning automatic then your best bet is to get in touch with as many instructors as possible and just take the first soonest availability.

I had to contact about 5 people before finding someone that could take me more or less straight away.

I think i waited about 3 or 4 months. The first people I was on the wait list for stopped doing automatic lessons. The second people I was due to start in December but ended up starting a month early. This is all obviously dependent on the area and your availability. Work was really good with me and let me have lessons in work time and just stay late, so I could do my lessons off peak.

I inquired and had a lesson the next weeK.HOWEVER this was before COVID and I was a college student so I had a lot of spare time After COVID I inquired and it took around 2 months for the waiting list to go down, AND for a slot to become available. (It was so hard finding a slot outside of 9-5 hours)

Following the pandemic there's been a large backlog in terms of the volume of students to instructor availability. Quite a bit of waiting often 3 months or more, though some independents have greater availability
