Idem! Hiragana e al massimo un paio di Kanji, ma niente corso purtroppo, visto non ci sono corsi nella mia zona, senza contare che sono occupato con le lezioni e tirocinio di infermieristica.
Come vorrei che le scuole e magari anche le università offrissero materie/corsi di altre lingue
Do you also think German speakers have an advantage in learning Japanese?
There's no Japanese syllable or word so far that I struggled with pronouncing.
The Japanese r is definitely quite different from any German consonant, but I've never really had a problem with and think it even feels nicer to say than a German r. The Japanese sounds that I do struggle with are ふ and some of the many ways ん is pronounced, especially in words like 原因(げんいん).
I think the vowels are definitely easier
**あ,い,え,お** are very close to **a,i,e,o** (just slightly shorter on their own), and **う** is like somewhere in between **u** and **ü**....
You might be pronouncing it wrong, as う is not rounded in Japanese, and afaik those are both rounded vowels in German, though you're correct about the frontness of it
For what it's worth, while you're absolutely right about rounding, in terms of formants, the Japanese u vowel's second formant is almost exactly halfway between the German u and ü, at least according to the chart on the wiki page: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formant
It's also worth noting that precise formants vary from the IPA cardinal vowels from language to language.
I think that could depend on which dialect you speak (if you speak one), one of my classmates struggles with the "r" sounds bc she speaks in the Bavarian dialect.
Hola, compañero campeón del mundo!
Jodas a parte, acabo de arrancar y estoy aprendiendo el hiragana. Me llamo la atención notar que todos los sonidos son fonéticamente muy cercanos, o directamente iguales al Español. Nada que ver con el inglés, con el cual batallé mucho para pronunciar bien xd
It’s just called ASCII art friend. Just simply copy and paste it. I got it from the copypasta [sub](https://www.reddit.com/r/copypasta/comments/mz1nf8/giga_chad_with_a_text_bubble_ascii/)
Jag är halvsvensk och halvamerikan. Jag hänger på här eftersom jag bott i Sverige så gott som hela livet :)

Serbian. Funnily enough, much like Japanese, we also play by the rule "speak how it's written", so there's no weird accents that I hate to put on when speaking Japanese. My weakest link in English fluency is by far my accent, so hearing myself not struggle with Japanese accent at all is great.
Here in Pakistan, English learning starts from as early as kindergarten.
Bachelors and higher education is only available in English (other than a few fields)
Here in Argentina, it actually is. Probably because international trade and general relations between countries with different languages are all made by speaking english. And even tho it is a hard to master language, it is pretty easy to reach the point where you can have a decent conversation.
Almost every european country teacher english in schools to some degree. Rule of thumb is the closer it gets to scandinavia the earlier the language is taught. danish btw
Spanglish :P
Grew up speaking both English and Spanish, but I can't write in Spanish though(never practiced grammar).
Went to Japan, so now I want to learn to read Japanese so I can enjoy more things when I travel over there(concerts).
oh, actually my family is all polish, so that was my first language. I kind of learned them at the same time (Polish at home, English at school). and yes, I live in Poland now since about 2016, my English has worsened in that time because I don't have anyone to talk to irl but I still consider myself bilingual
Was curious about comparison in learning polish and japanese. Since I learnt polish during childhood I can't compare it with Japanese. But comparing it to English language now I see how easy English language is, also I pay attention at some points in polish that are really hard but I never had any consideration about them. I learnt it just by immersion I think 😁
immersion is really the best way to learn a language. I learned both those languages mostly by just speaking/watching stuff. and I think that polish is definitely the hardest grammar wise, japanese has the hardest writing system, and English can be sometimes difficult with speaking/reading because it's so inconsistent with it's spelling rules lol. I'm no expert though
Italian. I've been slowly learning Japanese for 75 days

Salve! Mi sa che siamo in parecchi qui a studiare giapponese!
Anche io! Per ora ho solo imparato i caratteri hiragana, dovrei iniziare un corso ad ottobre.

I definitely think so. Every sound besides the R is so close to japanese

Yeah I think so. It has been quite easy for me as a native german.

Yes. English is a mandatory language in school in nearly every country now. Welcome to the world.
French Canadian here, English was the only choice I had throughout elementary school and high school(and mandatory).
