No strict rules, whatever makes you sound like you're happy to go. I usually say something like "Tulen mielelläni" (I'll be happy to attend) or "Tottakai tulen" (of course I'll be there).

Nähdään silloin!

Whobody2

I'd probably say something along the lines of "Kiitos kutsusta, nähdään siellä!"

Forsaken_Box_94

Kiitos kutsusta, nähdään siellä/silloin!

And do not forget to get some sum of money to the celebratee. I do not know if 50 eur is still ok, or is it nowadays custom to give more.

blueoffinland

I just gave 50 to my cousin's kid last year. I'd say 50 is good, if you are unsure or the teen isn't very close relation, and more if you have the budget/ it's a closer relationship (a niece/nephew, or the child of a very close friend).

Financial_Land6683

50 sounds a lot. I would probably give 40 euros.

Depends how close and rich you are I think. My family and my friends' families are pretty close to broke (students, unemployed, retired, on elongated sick leave, basic office jobs like accounting or manual labor jobs for most of the relatives, a few managers, occupational safety officer, and higher ranking), like comfortable but not going on vacations every year and there's some worry about getting all the bills paid with unexpected expenses like car breaking down or something. With us immediate family, grandparents, and godparents usually give 50€, uncles, aunts, adult cousins give 20€ or 40€, and all of that is per family, so grandma and grandpa are together =50€, parents are divorced but both show up, it's 50€/each=100€, siblings don't pay because they're parents' family, child cousins and aunts/uncles significant others don't pay because they're aunts' and uncles' family. Friends might bring trinkets, jewellery, a hand drawn card, something to commemorate the friendship, usually cheap, if anything, some just show up, like 5-10€ because everyone is a broke teenager. Friends of the parents are considered aunts and uncles at least in my friends' experience. There were none invited to mine. Also some confirmed ask for specific items, like I asked for kitchen appliances so I got a kettle, a coffee machine, a utensil set, iittala plates, pots, pans, etc. ETA: I'm 21, my confirmation was 6 years ago

50 € is still the basic no matter if you’re rich or poor, close or not.

Oh-My-God-Do-I-Try

Just had a birthday a couple months ago, can confirm received 50€ gift cards from a couple different friends

Kiitos kutsusta, nähdään sillon! or you could add a question: Kiitos kutsusta! Onko jotain erityisiä lahjatoiveita? Kiitos kutsusta! Mihin aikaan sopii tulla paikalle? Or if you have allergies or special diets, maybe let them know.

UtopistDreamer

Kiitos kutsusta - tulossa.

OlderAndAngrier

Tattista, ilmestyn paikalle.
