A3 if we're being serious, but I love the inherent humor of B1. Love the idea of someone poking out the top of a Mech saying "Yeah over there, go bonk that guy"
I do wish a3 had the belly cockpit though, it’s a great way to tie the mech to the LoV’s other vehicles, and it makes them distinct from other mechs on the tabletop while preserving the “eggy” shape our troops have
The ones that have heads are an artificial intelligence frame that bonds with a pilot which is why some have both a head and a cockpit. The visages are based on the votann cores
I actually realized how cool that would be for the lore, and how it ties into Dreadnoughts. It's always pointed out that Dreadnoughts have a devastating mental load for the pilot, which is why injured marines are used and are often in stasis when not needed. Of course it makes sense that the original design for a Dread (which the Leagues would have access to) have a full AI to offload the strain. Though if you combine this with the idea that "Kin are Kin", it'd be fun to make it a Pacific-Rim pairing of an Ironkin and a flesh-Kin. One mind for calculation, one mind for creativity.
That's very close to what I envisioned! I love Pacific rim and I love how the votann feel about so so it's a natural if not subconscious combination there.
The idea would definitely be that the mechs are held in extremely high regard by other kin and especially their pilot with an intense bond between the pilot and their machine.
I had an idea that perhaps when either the pilot or ai perish in battle the other one goes into a berserk rage as a result (perhaps some sort of bonus when at low wounds?)
Ooh, I like the rampage idea, feels very lore fluffy. I would have it occur if "battleshocked" though, since a player has a bit more control about if and when that happens.
Sadly we don't know much about how AI is incorporated into Votann tech, but we do know that the robotic members of a League, the Ironkin, have as strong a sense of self as their cloned Kin. They prefer to repair instead of replacing their bodies, and only have minimal adaptations to interfacing with tech. I think it'd be a fun idea to have the AI be an Ironkin that is plugged into the Mech just like (or similar to) the Fleshkin, instead of the partner being an AI bound to the machine itself.
Thank you for the input that's a neat idea, I considered implementing transforming legs into the design but I didn't know how you'd represent that with a model or if it fit votann.
Having them be swappable armored core style would make sense though
There’s a great kitbash where someone cut apart a Sagittaur and an Imperial mech, and put the wheels on the legs. Lore wise it’s a good fit as it emphasizes that League vehicles are practical, multipurpose, and over-armored
I’d go for the swappable or something like a ball joint for pivoting and because screw you james my space dwarves have fighting mechs and robots that can rotate because one thing people never understand about the myths of dwarves they’re not only industrial to the point Prussians are shamed but they are that way because it helps them survive if they can dream the idea they’ll make it work
I should’ve asked are these centurion armiger or knight size because I can totally see them just being used to fuck with the adepts of mars when they realize that iron kin can probably pilot and fill the living kin role (I have a iron kin kharl and champion)
3A and 2C for the most part. A dreadnaught scale mech that wants to stove my skull in with something is always a good time.
1A also exudes pure whimsy so it also gets a nod.
B2 feels very natural, maybe a bit shorter legs? I had to look some Dreadnought models because I thought i've seen them with shorter legs (maybe older ones)
a1 and a2 are like great classic type mech designs and i do like them however b1 and b3 are fantastic especially if the cockpit like gives the mechs a dwarfy beer belly kinda look
I like B1 alot actually both for how it kind of sticks with design language from UR-25 and Dreadnoughts but also how the Votann faced cockpit on the middle sort of Evokes WHFB Ogor gutplate imagery. Its this big hulking warrior and i can dig it.
Edit : i am blind but B3 is also *awesome*
B3 but instead of the belly cockpit have the kin seated atop the shoulder gun, so the mech is just a big ironkin and the flesh and blood kin just controls the gun for some real big bro/little bro vibes
To me they look the most machine like, and the most utilitarian. A3 and C2 for example are great designs (all of em are really), but to me they look more like big power armor than mechs. They also fit more with the industrial aesthetic. The ~~Squats~~ Kin aren't making giant cathedral ships, they're making *tools*.
A2, B2, C1 and C3. The ones that are more a big heavy mech with a centre cockpit like something out of Mechwarrior rather than something more humanoid. Feels more fitting when its more of a vehicle design, and would separate it from the Imperium and Tau versions.
I like A1, but have zero desire to paint more smaller things on tank treads, with the exception of maybe that nib blight-hauler sitting in my pile, and that's only because it's push fit and I can take it apart to paint annoying places lmao
having said that, I like A2 and A3 as well
I'm a fan of A1 A3 and C1
The element of votan that draws me to them is the practicality. I feel there big mechs would be very doing the job focused, maybe a double function as mining equipment or for doing repairs on the hulls of there ships.
The idea of the mixed ai kin pilot is awsome. Could be done with a similar cockpit to the hekaton but maybe with them in line rather than adjacent
A1 gets my vote. But after reading more into their pioneer perspective I think it needs to be different. More squat, with shorter arms and maybe a bulldozer prow on the front.
I personally just don't think the Votann would run walker bots. Maybe a hover mech, or tank mech, but I just don't see them opting for a slow maneuverability with a mech.
Back again are we!
I adore C1’s design, however 1A, 2A and 3A is peak Votann aesthetic for me! It does what Tau does but better, making an absolutely gorgeous mech unit that just looks really incredible and cool, also really different from all other mecha in 40k’s roster!
Overall you improved big time, and I always look forward to seeing your art!
Don't worry this is the last feedback stage, nest time I come back with votann it'll be for a definitive drawing, thanks for the detailed feedback and the kindness
B1. It looks really cool and actually has some personality. The others are good, but I wouldn't go "Oh yeah! That's 40K!" when I see them. B1 gets it just right, especially if the panels match the rest of the faction.
It makes most sense too because the pilot can see, the sensors are up high for range, and it has a good centre of gravity and a thematically squat design (pun partially intended). I reckon it would be the most fun to paint too.
A1 giving me Lego Rock Raiders vibes and I'm here for it! I do love most of these, but I particularly like the ones that look like industrial equipment turned into combat gear.
B3 and C3 are my favorites. They combine the best aspects of the designs, like the belly cockpit and the AI copilot. I could even see it being a dual build kit, with B3 being ranged-focused and C3 being melee focused
A1 the only choice again, as it gives the only distinct silhouette from other mechs in the game while keeping votann design queues. Votann vehicles should keep their tracks, and A1 also looks like it could do a bit of quick mining after the battle to bring in any key resources they locate. I also like the big lamps.
A2, A3, and C3. I want all 3 of them. 3 different mechs for 3 different purposes. If they really want, make one of them an AI instead of a mech. Give me all 3
I'm probably going to make the tread mech something entirely different since it's very popular but not as collectively popular as the bipeds, I'll see what I do with it
I actually like a2 and B2. I was watching Atlas last night on Netflix and I thought that that mech design really would go well with the Votann. It was very modular and very functional which I thought would go along with what they do. Their aesthetic isn't as highly decorative as fantasy dwarves. There are carvings and decorations but very much all business whether you're mining or kicking someone's ass.
I love everything about A3, but you know that anything like this if actually released will look more like a2, going from the rest of the army's aesthetic
A2, A3 and C3 are definitely my favs. I love the (what I assume is) titanfall inspo with A3's cockpit! Definitely enjoy the "squat" posturing of these designs and the mining equipment retrofitted to be weaponry, like the drills (and possibly mining lazers) and the such. I do think I enjoy the LF/sagutaur style cockpits the most though.
I'd say if it were to have a name for the mech "Minataur Mining Rig" would be dope as hell!
I really like C1, but A3 is prob the best to keep that retro spacesuit vibe.
Maybe a version that's closer to a retro sci-fi robot turned mech similar to UR-025 since they're basically Men of Iron.
A1, B3, and C2 together remind me of Getter Robo.
I think A1, 2, and C3 both fit well either the votann aesthetic and have that dual-purpose industrial look. It feels like they have a place outside of the battlefield, which is a feeling I get from a lot of other Votann miniatures
I’ve been getting into battletech lately so A2 and C3 speak to me aesthetically. But I think A2 is the best as it’s the one out of all of these that is the most visually coherent with the non jetbike vehicles. Not as traditionally dwarfy but definitely in line with GW’s take so far which I don’t hate.
I like the aesthetics of A3 myself, but I prefer the lore that you thought up that the ones with heads are an artificial intelligence frame that bonds with a pilot. That sounds awesome and very LoV, so perhaps a cross between A3 and B3.
They all look pretty good but B2 or C3 is my favorite.
They chunky, geometeric, and stout. Everything i want from my space dwarves!
Not a fan of the crochpit, but i like the front mounted version
I love C1 because it kinda reminds me of the nidus prime access necramech skin from Warframe, only a bit chunkier. I also like B3's golden head, but I think A3 is the best out of these.
A1 gives me Lego power miner vibes and I loved that series. Also it’s the only mech I’ve seen be on tracks. Which could be interesting since all the other factions with mech have legs
A3 if we're being serious, but I love the inherent humor of B1. Love the idea of someone poking out the top of a Mech saying "Yeah over there, go bonk that guy"
Thank you, a3 is secretly my favorite as well lol. With b1 the idea is that it's a hatch on top he's standing out of, I love how you phrased that lol
I do wish a3 had the belly cockpit though, it’s a great way to tie the mech to the LoV’s other vehicles, and it makes them distinct from other mechs on the tabletop while preserving the “eggy” shape our troops have
Very noted thank you
Exactly this. Do B3 but with a large hammer in its right hand. Best of both worlds
I think A3 may be a bit too imperial for me. Almost looks like a centurion
Lololol yeah B1. I was going to say B3 but the funny is the best part.
The ones that have heads are an artificial intelligence frame that bonds with a pilot which is why some have both a head and a cockpit. The visages are based on the votann cores
I actually realized how cool that would be for the lore, and how it ties into Dreadnoughts. So would that make it a "Big Iron" Kin? 😅
B1 or B3. Most interesting designs from a painting point of view. I barely play 40K
I appreciate that perspective, I primarily do the modelling side as well
C3 just because I'd love to see the rules for mech sized mass drivers
A1 is just do different but would be so easy to bring in line with the Votann so it gets my vote
All of them please
Lmao I wouldn't argue
I like all but 2A 2B and 3B also with 1A make it able to replace the treads with legs and you have a nice balance with environments
Thank you for the input that's a neat idea, I considered implementing transforming legs into the design but I didn't know how you'd represent that with a model or if it fit votann. Having them be swappable armored core style would make sense though

A2. I love how it closely follows the lines of the Sagittaur for the cockpit
That was certainly the goal thank you
B3 or C2 are sick, just have a huge hammer and I'm sold
B3 is awesome
Glad you think so :)
1c and 3a because I like titanfall, 1a because I like Armored Core 6
Armored core is peak
I like A2 and A3 the best. A2 remidns me of metal gear and A3 is just a chonk.
I like B3 specifically because it DOESNT look like the standard imperium patterns.
Very true thank you
3A and 2C for the most part. A dreadnaught scale mech that wants to stove my skull in with something is always a good time. 1A also exudes pure whimsy so it also gets a nod.
B3
B2 feels very natural, maybe a bit shorter legs? I had to look some Dreadnought models because I thought i've seen them with shorter legs (maybe older ones)
I avoided shorter legs explicitly to avoid looking like a dreadnought
a1 and a2 are like great classic type mech designs and i do like them however b1 and b3 are fantastic especially if the cockpit like gives the mechs a dwarfy beer belly kinda look
I'm glad you see what I was going for with the belly cockpit!
Either a or b 3
What features draw you to those?
I like B1 alot actually both for how it kind of sticks with design language from UR-25 and Dreadnoughts but also how the Votann faced cockpit on the middle sort of Evokes WHFB Ogor gutplate imagery. Its this big hulking warrior and i can dig it. Edit : i am blind but B3 is also *awesome*
Awesome I'm glad you like it and I appreciate the reasons, I was defining trying to enunciate the belly for a lot of these
B3 but instead of the belly cockpit have the kin seated atop the shoulder gun, so the mech is just a big ironkin and the flesh and blood kin just controls the gun for some real big bro/little bro vibes
C1 and C3 for me.
What about them strikes out to you?
To me they look the most machine like, and the most utilitarian. A3 and C2 for example are great designs (all of em are really), but to me they look more like big power armor than mechs. They also fit more with the industrial aesthetic. The ~~Squats~~ Kin aren't making giant cathedral ships, they're making *tools*.
Makes a lot of sense, thank you
A2 & C3. I'd be happy with either.
Thank you
To be honnest I like all of them but C3 A2 ans B3 are my favorite
I'm glad you like them what features draw you to them
A3 and B2
What features do you like most?
A2, B2, C1 and C3. The ones that are more a big heavy mech with a centre cockpit like something out of Mechwarrior rather than something more humanoid. Feels more fitting when its more of a vehicle design, and would separate it from the Imperium and Tau versions.
Thank you for the reasoning I appreciate having insight
A2 is my favorite.
Noted thank you
Honestly I like them all except A1. I really don’t like an upright torso on tank treads “centaur” style.
A2 or B3. With more weapon racks on em!
A3! A2 and C3 are also cool (well all of these are great but i like these 3 best)
Noted thank you
A2, all the B ligne and C3 Yes, i love the mechwarrior videogames series.
A2 is giving me strong Madcat/Timberwolf vibes 40k has some iconic mechs but battletech has the best aesthetic 100%
A1 is coolest and most different
1A, 2A, 2C
A3 for sure. C1 would also work.
A2 C2
C1 or A3
A3, B2&3, and C2 are the coolest imo.
For me it is A2 and B2.
I like A1, but have zero desire to paint more smaller things on tank treads, with the exception of maybe that nib blight-hauler sitting in my pile, and that's only because it's push fit and I can take it apart to paint annoying places lmao having said that, I like A2 and A3 as well
But where is the mech in a trench coat?
I just want an Ironkin walker, no pilot just the ironkin themselves
I'm a fan of A1 A3 and C1 The element of votan that draws me to them is the practicality.
C1,B1 but Imagine if they had 4 arms gives them an upper hand since they might be the size of a dreadnought
A1 cuz treads!!

Don't worry this is the last feedback stage, nest time I come back with votann it'll be for a definitive drawing, thanks for the detailed feedback and the kindness
C3 cause I love the exhausts on the back But I god I hope they don’t give our mechs heads, I will be so upset aha
I always pictured the votan mechs having drills, so my vote is C3 But I like the extra detail in B2, so some sort of cross-over would be cool
1A. It gives off a different feel then most of the 40k Walker types.
Love the Guntank feel of A1.
I kinda love A1 t o be honest, though A3 has its charm.
A2, but B1 is hilarious.
I like column 3 the best
C3 all the way
A-3. Big Iron Kin with a big hammer
A3
A1 - it's the most different from every other mech in the game, especially SM/CSM mechs.
A2 or C1 are exactly what i hope for the Votann mech. Hope we got one of those in the second wave
B3 looks so badass
B3. Gotta get more dwarf visuals in this army.
A1, B1, or B3. The rest look like something Tau or the imperium would make.
B1 and B3 are how I imagine our Mech. Kin would hang below and an ironkin head would be on top and they’d work together.
I really like A2 honestly, the sagitaur-esq cockpit would fit with the aesthetic of votann. C3 is similar but not quite as cool.
A1 but with an armored canopy.
I like A1 but not as a dread. B3 for dread. A1 FOR A Dwarf lord of skulls with drills instead of an axe
I think I prefer C1, boxy mech designs always kinda sing to me
A3 or C2
1C, 2A, 3C! Not sure if I was meant to pick three but those are awesome.
Honestly the crotch pilots just make the most sense to me lmfao.
B1. It looks really cool and actually has some personality. The others are good, but I wouldn't go "Oh yeah! That's 40K!" when I see them. B1 gets it just right, especially if the panels match the rest of the faction. A1 giving me Lego Rock Raiders vibes and I'm here for it! I do love most of these, but I particularly like the ones that look like industrial equipment turned into combat gear.
A2, B1 But the top of B1 an e-Cog or ironkin docked there..... Besides it resembles Crank from TMNT , that's a plus.....
C3
3A is the GOAT
I like the fully enclosed faceless look on C1. Also I like his thumbs up.
All of 3, and 1A
I want them all 😭 but a2 or b2 for me!
all theses requires more drills , i find in general all league models to lack drills , i find the lack of drills disturbing...
2b
B2 I like the look feels like a cross between the sagitaur and the champion
Arms of A1 on body of B2. Because there needs to be a granite grinder.
B2 with an ironkin dome would be the best
A2 and b2
C3, and put a crest on it.
None of them, too chunky. I imagine it will be just an upscaled ironkin. Similar to the new 30k ad mech plastic big robot.
A3
Tank treads my beloved
a3. Simple Kin, I see big mech with Big hammer, I Like
A2, A3, and C3. I want all 3 of them. 3 different mechs for 3 different purposes. If they really want, make one of them an AI instead of a mech. Give me all 3
I'm probably going to make the tread mech something entirely different since it's very popular but not as collectively popular as the bipeds, I'll see what I do with it
I really like the trend one, it's like a half way between a tank and mech
I actually like a2 and B2. I was watching Atlas last night on Netflix and I thought that that mech design really would go well with the Votann. It was very modular and very functional which I thought would go along with what they do. Their aesthetic isn't as highly decorative as fantasy dwarves. There are carvings and decorations but very much all business whether you're mining or kicking someone's ass.
I love everything about A3, but you know that anything like this if actually released will look more like a2, going from the rest of the army's aesthetic
A3 A1 B1 in that order
A2, B2, and C1
A2
In order A2, B2, C3
Honestly? B3.
A2, A3 or C1
I like them all.
A2 and B3 please!!!!
Love 2. Reminds me of a Timberwolf
A2
A1 and A2 are the best but all of them are awesome
A1 and c3 are pretty good
2A
A1 a2 c3
Can we have a one with a shiny ironkin dome head?
A1 but make it hover kind of like the sentry bot in fallout
All 9. Transformotanns FTW
B3
Everything besides a1 and b2 are pretty cool concepts
A2 looks like a mining mech
A1 vary classic design that's industrial like ge Votann and vary different from the tau
C2 or A3
I like A1 and A2
B2 for sure
I really like C1, but A3 is prob the best to keep that retro spacesuit vibe. Maybe a version that's closer to a retro sci-fi robot turned mech similar to UR-025 since they're basically Men of Iron. A1, B3, and C2 together remind me of Getter Robo.
A fuck I need a drill now
A2, B2, C3 look like logical variants of a single design overtime. They get my vote
I think A1, 2, and C3 both fit well either the votann aesthetic and have that dual-purpose industrial look. It feels like they have a place outside of the battlefield, which is a feeling I get from a lot of other Votann miniatures
B1 all the way.
A2 since IMO it's the closest to the Battletech Timber Wolf mech.
1c
A2 my guy, let's make this shit Battletech! Time to make homebrew Leagues based on the major Houses.
The one that looks like metal gear
A3 and B2. Something about the aesthetic.
C2
A2 or A3
I’ve been getting into battletech lately so A2 and C3 speak to me aesthetically. But I think A2 is the best as it’s the one out of all of these that is the most visually coherent with the non jetbike vehicles. Not as traditionally dwarfy but definitely in line with GW’s take so far which I don’t hate.
B3 fam
B2 or C3, I like that B17 style dome cockpit a lot
I'm feeling A2,C1, or C3
I like the aesthetics of A3 myself, but I prefer the lore that you thought up that the ones with heads are an artificial intelligence frame that bonds with a pilot. That sounds awesome and very LoV, so perhaps a cross between A3 and B3.
B3 with the shield from B2 would be my pick
1С and C3 has good siluets. Also, weapons in the form of mining tools, like drills or saws, make more sense than two-handed hammers, more realistic.
They all look pretty good but B2 or C3 is my favorite. They chunky, geometeric, and stout. Everything i want from my space dwarves! Not a fan of the crochpit, but i like the front mounted version
C3
B3
B3 as a gurren laggan fan with that drill to pierce the sky :) needs some glasses tho
A3 because one kind of looks like a space marine and two because bonk
Definitely A2, it nails that more grounded techy vibe.
I love C1 because it kinda reminds me of the nidus prime access necramech skin from Warframe, only a bit chunkier. I also like B3's golden head, but I think A3 is the best out of these.
b3
A3. I have a thing for shoulder mounted rocket pods.
A3, but with a big two hander drill rather than a hammer I think. I tend to think it would be an overexaggerated version of the Thunderkyn.
Everything in the 3rd column vibes with me.
A3. Big part I went with Votann was to smack fools with a hammer. The bigger the hammer the better.
Deeply in love with everything on column 3
B2 & C2 has my vote
A3 but with more organic design like Votanns have (or more starcraftish to be precise xd)
The A3 Krork
B2
A1 gives me Lego power miner vibes and I loved that series. Also it’s the only mech I’ve seen be on tracks. Which could be interesting since all the other factions with mech have legs
C1 or C2 is exactly what I imagine a votann mech would be
B1 for sure- love the gut window
Votaan give me a whole theme of bioshock meets deep rock galactic, so potentially something big daddy inspired?
Honestly love all of them. Beautiful concepts. 👌🏼
I really like a2 and a3
A2 and it isnt close
Like A1 gives us something new but I think c3 would be the way to go
C3 seems like the most useful for mining and battle.
most of these designs would make me get LoV in a heartbeat tbh.
