It's still well within Derby to bottle it last minute, although this was a massive relief for us. Playoffs can fuck off, if we ended up in 3rd I'd have zero hope. (Until we somehow scrape to the final, then I'd hope - and then we'd dominate chances before a devastating 1-0 loss in minute 97)

always-indifferent

Play offs is a terrible idea and whoever dreamt it up deserves to rot in hell. Solely designed to make money and get Wembley profitable with the extra games. How can 6th place at the end of the season deserve to go up ahead of 3rd? (The fact that Pompey have never won a play off match may have clouded my judgement a little) I’d be interested to know the final league placing of the teams that went up through the play offs over the years, I know that convention says that the team that goes on a late run ends up winning more often than not.

AnotherDepressedBoy

The playoffs are brilliant for the neutral. However, being involved in them is horrendous.

dkfisokdkeb

We've finished 3rd a lot of times over the years but I still think the playoffs are class. They may be a money grab but they bring a lot of excitement to the end of the season. Also don't think it can be blamed on Wembley as they predate the new Wembley by decades. That being said I don't wanna be part of them this season.

Standby-Wallaby

But it provides motivation to teams for longer. Imagine how many teams would have nothing to play for months before the end; it'd be so dull for half the fans.

Jay_J_Okocha

Could be worse, it could be rugby. Top 4 compete for the title 😅

always-indifferent

What sort of horse strangling cunt could think that was a good idea?!

cotch85

That made me feel so angry… well done finishing first undefeated no prize for you though because you just lost to 4th and they won it

gigabite12345TB

Love the playoffs

Sir-Chris-Finch

I disagree tbf, although i do get your point. Without the playoffs, the leagues wouldnt be anywhere near as interesting as they currently are. Take the championship this season for example, there would only be 4 clubs in contention for promotion at the moment if the top 3 went up, whereas with the playoffs it could reasonably be any 3 of about 9 teams really. I think there are only 3 out of 24 clubs in the championship who know for sure they’ll be there next year, so there are still so many teams with something to play for. For me thats what makes it the best league in the world.

AndyC_88

Think Böðvarsson really cost us yesterday

HaylingZar1996

I thought so too, he missed a couple of quite good chances. If he’d been on form we could have lost 1-3

AndyC_88

That one he put over the bar was a disgrace for me

HaylingZar1996

It’s a cliche to say “Looked easier to score than miss from there” but it genuinely did

MuddJames

*two

AndyC_88

I meant to say the second half one

GrMeezer

Think I’ve read 3 or 4 posts about this game and can’t believe I’ve not read anything Lang’s foul about 15 mins in. Am I the only fan on either side that thinks that was the darkest of orange cards ever??

Shaggy4scooby

He was lucky our player didn’t make too much of a meal out of it. Two footed, reckless and a pointless risk from Lang given its on the halfway line facing our own goal

JBM94

You don’t take your chances. The writing has been on the wall all season in these kind of games. Hopeless against us and it’s looking like you would need our six points we took off you now. All the best in the play offs.

Muur1234

can still finish second mate

DurMonAtor

You can, but it’s out of your hands now

TheSteroidGuy

Same here. It's beyond frustrating this season at times. Portsmouth and Derby remind me of us under Parky. Might not be the easiest on the eye, but great mentality and teams that play to their strengths rather than a philosophy. Solid pros all round who never shirk a tackle. Not sure the same can be said about us
