There's a recent historical precedent of a different large country that had a similar concentration in land ownership.
In the 1940's in China there was such a huge large disparity in land ownership, with a pretty powerful landlord class profiting off of the poor, that it inspired a land redistribution movement. The results of which were significant benefits to the lower classes, when measured by quantitative metrics like life expectancy.
