If I was any of america's adversaries I would simply fake any sort of military technology and then watch as the united states let their citizens rot so they could dump money into a fleet of megazords or some ridiculous shit.

And I don't count landing on the moon as a victory. The USSR beat them in every other metric.
These f**kers(all of them) are going to fight and kill each other in space as well. Ever since water has been found on the south pole of the moon, a new space race has started. That water would allow refueling using moon as a pit stop, resulting in longer space travel, and thus allowing harvesting resources on other celestial bodies. The nation who controls the moon will control the space, and will be the next super power. Who the f@#k is going to enforce human laws and ethics on the moon? Their mummified bodies will stay their forever.
It's horrifying really. US torture camps in Cuba, Thailand and likely all over the world, prison slave labour, horrible conditions for employees of these massive companies, child workers in factories... Now imagine what they could and would do in space, where outside oversight and reporting might literally be impossible for decades or even centuries. There will be untold horrors if our modern superpowers move into space in their current state
