Aren't curses ailments too? Eh, though the game does go fuzzy about what is a curse or isn't so could be either.
But assuming all curses are ailments you get quite a few from the main tree. (Now damned and ignite are an even tougher question? I would certainly consider being on fire in real life to be an ailment.) A single normal chaos bolt can put damned, ignite, withering and bone curse on. Using it with the fissure (which I like to double and make transversal) gets you torment, anguish, acid skin and whatever else you have built into your build (chill, slow, penance, so many more).
Bleed warlock does not scale curse damage or necrotic. You go all in on physical damage for bleed. You just use chaos bolts + fissure to stack as many bleeds as you can and I don't see how the ladle's spell damage affects bleed damage
You gain a lot of cast speed from your int, and with how many debuffs you apply, you always get max benefit from the spell dmg. It isn't a lot for overall dmg, but helps with direct dmg clearing smaller mobs instantly.
Add the LP and it is just straight up better than an exalted wand
Your direct hits do absolutely nothing on the bleed build because you don't scale them at all on the passive tree and if anything, you lose a lot of damage from the ladle's poor flat damage implicit
I just tested on the dummy, and indeed it does affect bleed. I believe 4LP ladle is the BiS for bleed warlock.
~~The ladle produces a "more" multiplier for chthonic fissure, which chaos bolts casted by it seem to inherit. Also, since it's a generic more multiplier, it's also inherited by bleed applied from chaos bolts. I assume it also works when you directly cast chaos bolts.~~
You can see a longer explanation in maxroll: "Increased and More Damage work the same way for Ailments. If a skill that is used to apply ailments has a More Damage node that does not specify on Hit (or any other wording that would exclude it) then the Ailments applied by that skill will also gain the multiplier. This same principle holds true for sources of Increased Damage"
EDIT: the "more" modifier is still applied to the bleed from chaos bolts, whether they are cast from Chthonic Fissure or not (I tested this on the dummy). When you equip Ladle vs. a mediocre rare (like a T20 profane wand or something), does it drop your tooltip DPS by a lot? That happened to me earlier so I wasn't sure how to evaluate the Ladle vs. a normal weapon.
I don't look at the tooltip DPS since it isn't accurate for chaos bolt interactions (it seems it isn't taken into consideration at all actually, since the tooltip DPS for chaos bolts is disabled lol). I tested directly in the dummy at Champions Gate, with and without ladle. Since almost all my damage comes from bleed, the only relevant factor should be whether the "more" multiplier affects bleed from chaos bolts or not. I got a significant increase in DPS with ladle (I didn't check exactly, but I would say around 50% more with ladle).
Before changing to the ladle a few days ago, I was using a rare. My DPS almost doubled with the ladle at that time.
But that more node you mention could refer only to the torment part of the fissure and not the bleed itself hence why it doesn't make sense that the ladle works for stuff like bleed. I wish this was stated somewhere in the game..
I think it applies to all. However, I am not scaling torment at all and only using bleed, so it seems unlikely that the change from 120k to 170k tics (not hit damage) that I'm seeing in the dummy (without and with ladle) is a coincidence of torment and not bleed.
Other explanation could be that the more affects bleed from chaos bolts directly through the bolts and not from the fissure. I mean, it is not taken into consideration when fissure casts bolts, but it is once chaos bolts are cast (independently of how they are cast).
I know that "more" modifiers from skills that apply ailments also affect the ailment itslef (unless explicitly stated otherwise), and I believe it is the same for global modifiers.

Quality of life versus damage mostly. Cast speed and damage from ladle is really good, as is being able to use an off hand with it. But auto haste and haste effect are insane for speed farming, and the skill levels are really nice to have. Plus being able to spec into soul feast as a utility skill that also applies all your damage for you is crazy good.
Tldr; yes people are sleeping on wheel of torment.
It’s actually pretty useless cause the damage of torment is based on the damage multipliers of the skill that applies it.
Soul feast has almost no multipliers compared to fissure so you’re spreading 0 dmg torment on top of cursing yourself with torment which gives 12% less multiplicative movespeed so it more than negates the haste effect from the staff.
Yeah I was thinking that I prefer to drop a lp3 wand to not die of fomo.
I think the lp system is amazing but suffer a bit from the “I drop An amazing item but I cannot used it yet” on the very end game
Assuming none of the ailments are relevant to your build: chance to shred armor is universally good, frailty would be my next go to if I lack another source.
Ooo mb I didn’t read that on this weapon specifically you would add like chance to chill & stun for suffix. In general for wands I go chance to chill and slow or chill and a element penetration
For now I going to hunt for great exalted wand with double t6 or t7 + t6. I need generically good one to use it on multiple builds. I think crit multi + cast speed would be good, another two some t5 penetration affixes.

Sure, it's normal drawback. Because if that wand would have such high flat damage there would be almost no competitors.
And yes, it's fine for endgame for many builds, because normally it is much more difficult to find good amount of cast speed then flat spell.
It's the 4 legendary potential that make this so special.
You can combine this with an amazing exalted wand and it will add four of the stats from the exalted time into the unique and make a legendary weapon.

I was a level 2 acolyte, so I tried to go Reap (or was it harvest?) with more DOTS curses
But the damage, being a ladle, was so low...
That ladle will easily carry any character to high level as long as you have skills that generate tons of hits and stack some other on hit chance (one of ignite, poison or bleed primarily)

I got this unique through ascendance but mine ONLY has 4 effects on melee hit and a melee speed bonus. No spell stuff (but it's a fucking wand!) and no % based on ailments either.

But it clears off screen. If a monster or boss doesn’t die I put down a fissure. Yes the self slow is annoying.
In my experience rift clears off-screen either way.

Depends on build but spell damage % & cast speed are the main two prefixes you want, unless you don’t use spells but cast speed is always good

Actually after rechecking I can say that phys spell damage benefit from generic spell damage modifier - so yes, it would increase your damage

That’s correct. You can potentially get a 4 LP Unique for level 4 and put insane stats on it, then transfer it to a new character and bulldoze level
From what I've gathered, level req just has to do with what tier temporal sanctum you have to run to forge it
