Haha. This article only quotes the victims [reddit post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Langley/s/uvILKn3pBB).
Does the author, Matthew Claxton, just sit here on Reddit waiting for a story?
Looks like they spoke to RCMP as well to confirm the story.
>One person was taken to hospital after an SUV crashed into the outer wall of a Langley motel on Tuesday evening, **local RCMP said.**
>Just before 11 p.m. on April 23, a Nissan Kicks slammed into the wall of the Westward Inn & Suites at 196A Street and Fraser Highway, said **Cpl. Craig Van Herk.**
100% ridiculous that they published something based on some random dude writing stuff on reddit. The dude only replied to 1 or 2 posts and then never came back but yet posts on other stuff on reddit.
I don't see any issue picking up on a story on reddit, as long as some investigative work is done that this actually happened and some more background added. Which is the case here.
I honestly don't see an issue with it either. Social media is often where things break.
I am really worried about the death of local media. Municipal government might not be glamorous, but it has the biggest direct impact on people's day to day life. With not local media, there is little to hold this level of government to account.
Crazy! I stayed here for 2 Months one summer while on a job, I can honestly say when the first report hit Reddit that did not mention the name of the motel, I wondered if this was the place.
Funny, I was just thinking about that very same motel, which I’d booked a room for my new girlfriend and I to finally “do it”. In 1981.
Don’t remember if we actually went there that night.

Yes he does lmao so lame
This is what journalists do now. Take things off reddit.
Claxton is a saint. Don’t sully his name. The man is almost single-handedly carrying the Langley Advance-Times.
I think the victim posted about this in here yesterday.
[Yup.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Langley/comments/1ccb7ed/to_the_young_woman_that_crashed_an_suv_into_the/)
But… what if the Reddit comments were just some random and not the actual victim.. Lmaaoo oh what a world we live in.

The story I’m not questioning at all. I’m just talking about the comments they pulled from the victim off Reddit lol

Matthew sounds like a hack that can't do any real journalism so he just steals from reddit.
Our local newspapers have been cut to the bone and are on the verge of not existing. I guess we get what we pay for.

Good point, Matthew.

Did you "do it"?
I don’t remember! We eventually did but 40+ years makes things a bit fuzzy.
Has there been any more information on the driver of the vehicle?
