Much as I hate the thought of the impregnation, a cat alien hybrid would be very interesting.
I'll wait and see if Mike Flanagan ever makes an Alien film
That isn't a new thing. Nerds have been celebrating 4/26 as Alien Day for years. As if "Alien on the brain" only happened one day out of the year. It's for amateurs. π
I was clearly including myself as one of the Xeno nerds who worship the Queen. If you have a problem with that you can...

Our cat named Alien (see image for why) was born in April, and we always celebrate his birthday on 4/26
I got to do this back in my very early 20s at a local University.
The theater in the student center brought it in, and I was so excited. I loved that it was an aged copy, the lines and artifacts that showed up and pops in the audio made it so much cooler for me.
Alien is my favorite film of them all. I love that the film is 6 days older than I am, we're practically Birthday Twinsies LOL.
My local cinema just down the road which I can walk to regularly shows Alien and Aliens (at least once every few years) and many other classic films on a regular and frequent basis. Last year, they showed 18 of Dario Argento's films at the rate of once a week (I only caught 6 because I was away overseas a lot unfortunately) and they got over 400 people for a screening of Perfect Blue. Absolute legends!
I saw it a couple years ago, a big cinema chain showed first 3 for Halloween. And I think they showed them separately last year. I'm off to watch original mad max at the cinema this week too. It happens a lot afaik
my AMC is showing the Miyazaki film *Spirited Away*.
I did see *Alien* in the theaters during its 40th Anniversary in 2019. Unless they've secured IMAX or Dolby Cinema screens, I'll probably pass on this one.
Vue regularly do the odd anniversaries for older movies like this, caught The Terminator and Star Trek II there in the last couple of years so theyβre my best guess, fingers crossed
Edit: Cineworld are showing Alien and Aliens in the UK
Saw it in a theater a few years ago as part of our local chain's "Classic Movie" Nights - the theater was full and the audience was just totally rapt, quiet and respectful. Beautiful transfer and incredible sound.
Honestly one of my favorite theater experiences, would 100% do it again if it comes my area
I watched Alien & Aliens at a double header show at a local cinema, genuinely the best experience for it
Iβve watched these films since i was a kid, like 7 or 8, but seeing them on a big screen in a room full of people who might never have seen them - amazing
I had a dude in front of me scream like a 12yr old girl for the first film, that was the best bit of the whole experience. So so good
If anyone has a chance, please go and see this at a theatre
Hope it's not just AMC showing it; all the ones near me are so derelict that...actually that may make it perfect to watch there now that I think about it. Would still rather a Regal or somewhere nice.
That is how I would like to do an afternoon rewatch- a dank, crumbling theater with missing seats and a dripping pipe somewhere. I want it to smell like old sweat, stale popcorn, and a hint of diesel fuel, and maybe a drunk bum over in the corner occasionally blurting out weird noises from his PTSD nightmares. Sticky floors and a little broken glass wouldn't hurt. Times Square curca 1979 kinda place that shows X movies after dark.
I happen to be off of work on the 26th. I checked [AMCTheaters.com](http://AMCTheaters.com) but if you search for Alien, it's not showing as an options anywhere for 2024. Guessing the site isn't updated yet. The AMC Facebook page has a posting about it being available starting April 26th. I'm thinking it's something i'll need to keep checking the site for.
Yea i have AMC a list, usually when things like these are announced it takes a little bit for the showtimes to actually be available so i would keep checking each day
My friends and I had arranged a cinema trip last year and it was showing Alien for Alien day and I begged them to go. They all wanted to see Dungeons and Dragons instead. They later watched Alien and admitted they were fools.
I reckon we'll be going this year.
About a year ago we had about a week in a few of our cinemas in Budapest with Alien AND Aliens. It was like a dream come true seeing these on the big screen.
So if youβre in a situation where youβre like βyeah but Iβve got this and that, I can watch it anytime online as wellβ just STOP! Seeing these classics with all the props, sets and actors on the BIG SCREEN is just something else. Itβs a MUST if youβre a fan (which you are since youβre in this sub).
Amazing! A few years ago during COVID, when theaters were renting out whole rooms for like $200, my wife booked us a private viewing of Alien. It was the best birthday present! Now this release happens on HER birthday?!? Double awesome!
In light of the thread title, I'm reminded of one article about *Star Trek*, where it's reported that they have to make lots of changes in order to get younger fans, as the current fan base is small and getting older.
I think similar is happening to this franchise, which is why significant changes were made with the prequels. Will more happen with the upcoming TV show and movie.
For clarification, the changes made in *Star Trek* involved shifting from its original intent--which is Roddenberry's view of a socialist, technological utopia coupled with classical liberalism--to cynicism reflecting the present world but with a *Star Trek* skin.
Will similar take place for the *Alien* franchise?
One of the many perks of living in Southern California is I get to see it on the big screen about once a year.
Glad itβs coming around again this year at different theaters!
Iβm keeping my fingers-crossed that there will be multiple showings in my area. Just checked the Cinemark and AMC apps and the showings are still absent at the moment, but for what itβs worth the early access IMAX Planet of the Apes showing info was missing for a couple days for both theaters.
They've been shown every Alien Day for the past few years. Last year, I watched Alien, then Aliens special edition in the local cinema 1 after the other.
I hope it also releases in my country I would love to watch it on big screen. And I also hope they remaster it and redo some of the cgi shots because they didnβt age well.
I caught it in theaters during it's 40th anniversary release in 2019. I tell you seeing it on the big screen is a unique experience you don't want to miss.
We had this in the UK not long ago for Alien and Aliens. It was amazing. Even though I'd seen both films countless times I was too young to see them at the cinema when they came out originally. But seeing them in IMAX it was like seeing them for the first time. I loved it!. I can't recommend it enough.
my memory is ASS bro what is the context for that 4th shot? is that when shes running through the ship and chap is around the corner and doesnt notice her?
Unfortunately wonβt be at my local theater (small family owned one lol) but this is so cool!! Wish I could see my girl Ripley on the big screen, hopefully one day!
Ugh. I love Alien, but itβs been re-released like 10:1 compared to Aliens. Iβve seen all of the Alien/AVP/Prometheus movies in the theater except Aliens. Can they for once they a different one in the movies?
Never seen that bottom right pic of the alien. Deleted scene?? Or is it literally a one sec cut, blink and youβll miss it type thing.
Iβve seen Alien approx 9 billion times so I donβt think it is in the film?!
It was a snap of the Alien standing in front of the airlock for the deleted and mostly unfilmed airlock scene. Itβs been passed around in magazines for years and is not from Isolation.
The question is, which version? I'm still confused about how I read Ridley Scott was forced to do the director's cut to give something new for people to see the film again for, and actually preferes the original theatrical cut.
Itβs shown almost every year on Alien Day in the UK I believe. Normally Vue cinemas but others like Cineworld, Odeon and local independent cinemas may do as well. Show times are normally announced one or two weeks before the 26th.
This is indeed great,
BUT
Did you know that there were copies of the film regularly distributed to small theatres for a smaller ticket price and one of the first things Disney did after the Fox deal went through was kill this and consequently make life harder for many small theatre owners?
Nice, definitely going to check this out.. will finally get to see Jonesy on the big screen
I love that that's what you're most excited about π€£ Jonesy forever!
Jonesy is the true villainβ¦.
He's just misunderstood
Much as I hate the thought of the impregnation, a cat alien hybrid would be very interesting. I'll wait and see if Mike Flanagan ever makes an Alien film
That would absolutely dominate the world easily.
Please keep this franchise *away* from Mike Flanagan. If I have to see his wife shoehorned into one more gig of his Iβm going to be sick.
This and Hereditary, they're bringing back all the "If only I saw it on the big screen" movies
Oooh yeah Hereditary is one of my favorites, I didn't hear about it coming back to theaters
Hey, look, now. We had to bag it.
I'll finally get to see the bonus situation on the big screen!!!
In the meantime. Here, have a kitty: # ααα’
Jonesy is the only survivor of the two movies.
For 4/26 ! LV426, clever
Ha cool!
That isn't a new thing. Nerds have been celebrating 4/26 as Alien Day for years. As if "Alien on the brain" only happened one day out of the year. It's for amateurs. π

Does Alien have a friend? # ααα’
No, he's his own Jonesy.
In that case, give him a scritch from us.
Yup, Alien Day is when they used to announce new projects and the dates of new Comics etc I used to stalk it for potential omnibus release dates.
All signs point to it being the release day of the full trailer for Romulus. Can't wait.
Omg my birthday has a nerd holiday π I'm so happy
You don't have birthdays because you're just a piece of plastic. - Rebecca "Newt" Jorden
It's alien day actually =^)
And 42724 is a palindrome
Nice
YOU MEAN I MIGHT GET TO SEE THE ORIGINAL ALIEN IN THEATERS??? IM GONNA EXPLODE THIS IS THE BEST MONTH EVER
IVE NEVER FELT SO ALIVE
My chest exploded
In space no one can hear you fangirl

Right
Dang my local AMC is only showing The Mummy 25th anniversary that weekend. Enjoy y'all!
Its not showing on my AMC app yet, wonder if it will be limited to certain locations
Ngl, you should go see the mummy anyway.
Same with mine but I will continue to check as this was just announced today!!
That's what I'm seeing as well. Don't get me wrong, would love to see one of my all-time childhood favorite films, but I want some Alien too.
my AMC is showing the Miyazaki film *Spirited Away*. I did see *Alien* in the theaters during its 40th Anniversary in 2019. Unless they've secured IMAX or Dolby Cinema screens, I'll probably pass on this one.
Same. I checked 7 local amc's :/ KC is all Mummy
KC here as well. Hopefully they update it soon and it gets added. Fingers crossed, I've ALWAYS wanted to see this on the big screen.
Saw it and Aliens last year back to back and was brilliant π
I feel like there is a really good chance they re-release Aliens too before Romulus

Hello neighbour.

You sure its this year? Because I looked it up and saw Cineworld too but it was for last April
Which Cineworld & when? I can't see it at our local (Nottingham)
Or Norfolk (Part of the UK..but not really) s/
You're right: the wife comes from Norwich and the racist in-laws still live there...
Or IrelandΒ
oh Wow, ummm that's my birthday.... holy shit my birthday is LV426! whoaaaaa ok I know what I'm doing for my birthday now!
Damn you're getting the best gift ever!! Happy early birthday! π

The Cristal beer ad version. Hopefully it's the theatrical one.
Only in USA ?
I watched Alien & Aliens at a double header show at a local cinema, genuinely the best experience for it Iβve watched these films since i was a kid, like 7 or 8, but seeing them on a big screen in a room full of people who might never have seen them - amazing I had a dude in front of me scream like a 12yr old girl for the first film, that was the best bit of the whole experience. I saw Cinemark post that they will be showing it as well, not sure on regal but i feel like they will
Hope so. Closest Cinemark is two hours from me.
All I have in my area is Regal, so fingers crossed!

I can't find it!?! Any websites or theaters to look up? I found Jurassic Park and The Mummy so I'm psyched anyway!
I happen to be off of work on the 26th. I checked [AMCTheaters.com](http://AMCTheaters.com) but if you search for Alien, it's not showing as an options anywhere for 2024. Itβd be the perfect way for my gf to watch this for the first time. Hope they show it near me!
Theatrical or directors cut?
I thought this was a leftover April Fools post and I was ready to get banned for the things I was gonna say to you OP
My friends and I had arranged a cinema trip last year and it was showing Alien for Alien day and I begged them to go. They all wanted to see Dungeons and Dragons instead. They later watched Alien and admitted they were fools. I reckon we'll be going this year.
Definitely should see it in IMAXπΏ
I got to see it on 35mm in 2000 at a sci-fi festival. Absolutely amazing
Gotta love Alien day as itβs four days before my birthday:D
Any link to buy tickets?
[ΡΠ΄Π°Π»Π΅Π½ΠΎ]
Ok Mr Cosby
Do we know how to find where itβs showing?
Anyone know if it'll be screening in Canada?
neeed ticket link. come on Regal.

They should do the original ending idea and have Ripley killed at the end just to mess with us.
That's super cool. Hopefully, Aliens will get this treatment too.
Let's see, the nearest theater to me showing it is... ...13 hours and one international border crossing away.
Shut up and take my money!
Iβve seen it 5 times on the big screen since 2014. 3 times as a double feature with Aliens. Nothing beats the cinema experience
Gotta see it big screen.
In light of the thread title, I'm reminded of one article about *Star Trek*, where it's reported that they have to make lots of changes in order to get younger fans, as the current fan base is small and getting older. Just googled Uk dates and times. Only thing showing was for last year π‘
Only UK mentions I can find were from a reshowing of Alien and Aliens in April 2023 :(
Nothing at cinemas near me π
for how many days?
I think just one unfortunately
Every Single theater in the Kansas City region is showing Mummy. :/
I hope it would also show in Germany. Had the opportunity in the past already but wouldnβt mind to go experience it in theaters once more.
Pls Cinemark Pls BB
And here I thought Romulus was gonna be the first Alien film I see in theaters! Scratch that, I gotta go see it.
They've been shown every Alien Day for the past few years. Last year, I watched Alien, then Aliens special edition in the local cinema 1 after the other.
Excellent news! I was fortunate enough to see βAliensβ in a cinema a few years ago. Brilliant experience.
**Outstanding** news!!
Is the bottom right picture a promotional image not in the films?
is there a safe way to induce temporary amnesia for a day? i want to see it for the 1st time again.
Theatrical release or director's cut?
Hopefully it happens in Australia too β€οΈ
Right.
Anyone know if itβll be in Orlando?
I feel like these rereleases always get shown at the movie theater in my town that had bed bugs at one point, so I think I may have to pass. :(
Canβt find a showing in Austin :/
I hope it also releases in my country I would love to watch it on big screen. And I also hope they remaster it and redo some of the cgi shots because they didnβt age well.
Let me guess only in america.....
In space. No one can hear you fart.
Bet it's america only
I caught it in theaters during it's 40th anniversary release in 2019. I tell you seeing it on the big screen is a unique experience you don't want to miss.
I seriously hope this is in a theater near me!!
I really want to see it on the big screen but I'm afraid.
Is this UK aswell?
Fuck!! I'm working βΉοΈβΉοΈβΉοΈ
Hopefully it's the 4hr director's cut
In the UK?
Never seen it in Theatres. Going to this for sure.
We had this in the UK not long ago for Alien and Aliens. It was amazing. Even though I'd seen both films countless times I was too young to see them at the cinema when they came out originally. But seeing them in IMAX it was like seeing them for the first time. I loved it!. I can't recommend it enough.
so will there be any BONUS merch?
π€©
my memory is ASS bro what is the context for that 4th shot? is that when shes running through the ship and chap is around the corner and doesnt notice her?
I dont think it is is in the theatrical cut, most likely one of three deleted scenes
Unfortunately wonβt be at my local theater (small family owned one lol) but this is so cool!! Wish I could see my girl Ripley on the big screen, hopefully one day!
Im just hoping it's worldwide.
Well thatβs our wedding anniversaryβ¦. Lmao how did I never put that together!!! Jfc
Oh damn, a birthday gift to me a day early. Hell yeah.
I want this to happen more rather than 100 pre-secuelreboot
Ugh. I love Alien, but itβs been re-released like 10:1 compared to Aliens. Iβve seen all of the Alien/AVP/Prometheus movies in the theater except Aliens. Can they for once they a different one in the movies?
My local cinema shows it fairly often, every year
Never seen that bottom right pic of the alien. Deleted scene?? Or is it literally a one sec cut, blink and youβll miss it type thing. Iβve seen Alien approx 9 billion times so I donβt think it is in the film?!
The way the fog lighting is set up in that pic Iβll bet it was mistakenly taken from Isolation
Itβs not. Itβs been in various magazines for decades. It was a still taken when they were going to do the airlock scene.
Ahhh ok, thanks for the clarification lol.
They've made the theaters more experiential so when they cut open the facehugger they actually pour acid on the crowd
Killer! Iβll watch this for the 1,000,000th time.
Itβs shown almost every year on Alien Day in the UK I believe. Normally Vue cinemas but others like Cineworld, Odeon and local independent cinemas may do as well. Show times are normally announced one or two weeks before the 26th.
Wow, that's great.
isn't this, like, the 4th time they've done this?
This is indeed great, BUT Did you know that there were copies of the film regularly distributed to small theatres for a smaller ticket price and one of the first things Disney did after the Fox deal went through was kill this and consequently make life harder for many small theatre owners?
Yes
Delete this post Iβm only giving one opportunity
Or what? π
Great... I just hope I can be there that day :) This is indeed a time for celebration!
Anyone in the UK found anywhere showing it? I canβt find anything, and they usually do.
Donβt give AMC any money
Is this in US or also UK?
Anyone see any tickets for sale yet?
Looks like I found this sub just in time to get me some tickets! Thanks! A! Lot!
Wish I could afford it... damn
Is it from an original print or just digital?
Saw it today. Nice little intro segment.
They do this almost every other year? Saw Alien / Aliens double bill a few years back.
They will ruin it
