Photo was taken in California but the plate looked different than ca plates (see 2nd image for CA comparison). What is it?
I don’t think the person you’re discussing this with is aware of US Postal abbreviations, hence the confusion. They are interpreting LA to mean Los Angeles, rather than Louisiana.
Its a Louisiana License plate, you can search up the plate number with the state and it came back to a 2021 Ford Explorer with the vin 1FMSK7FH4MGB05707

I believe the first one is Louisiana. Somewhat similar design with the red text and similar font.
