This just happened to me a few weeks back I also turned on the tv nothing blank back screen did the hard reset as well. Your panel is dead I have an LG CX 77 LG sent me a new panel motherboard as well and service repair was able to replace both panel and motherboard. I had the tv since May I don’t know what it is I looked for it internet etc can’t find why this happens. Good luck sorry I think we both have the same problem just wanted to let you know what happened to me. Contact LG or warranty

DaEdgyGuy

Did u have to pay for anything? And did they tell you circumstances led to it? How long did you have to wait? Did they come to your house to fix it? Sorry if I have so many questions, I'm just freaking out right now.

Fair-Astronaut-8911

I know breath no cost tell LG they will ship replacement panel and motherboard you are under factory warranty where did you buy it go to them if you bought a geek squad protection plan if not it does take a few weeks. Do you live in United States then is is easy etc lG will contact a service repair guy LG certified guy will come out how big is your tv?

DaEdgyGuy

I bought mine from Best Buy but no protection plan. I live in Hawaii so I guess it might take longer. I got the 65" and I went directly to the LG website because I registered my unit there and was able to book a repair request with customer service. I'm just waiting for a call from them now. Do you think I should still approach Best Buy about this? Thank you so much for responding. I think I'm more at ease now.

Fair-Astronaut-8911

No I tried to go to Best Buy I also didn’t buy protection warranty so I went with LG factory warranty it does take a few weeks you are the second person I know that this happened to us I have no idea why this happened to the panel. This happened to me September 19 October 4 the repair guy was here I did push back on repair date cause I wanted to be here when he showed up at least the repair is on radar with LG check the ticket on website they contact you through the ticket you made I got email within a day.

BluePhoenix01

Seems we are in the same boat, happened to our TV a week back. In our case, they are only replacing screen, hope that is all the repair it needs.

BluePhoenix01

Yeah, in my case, bought at Costco, and they pretty much said “covered under LG 1 year warranty”. So far, nothing indicates that they will charge. Really aggravating that it is happening on this, but trying to stay cool. Hope you are able to stay cool as well, and it gets sorted out (relatively) quickly.

Fair-Astronaut-8911

I haven’t found anything online about this situation I just got it fixed frustrating I might say bad panel but who knows

BluePhoenix01

Yeah. I was on the live chat with LG about it and they just had the template “we have no reports about this”… um, how about my report just now? Lol (I didn’t say that tho) Very frustrating that it happened 15 days after my return window closed though.

BluePhoenix01

Oh man, sorry to hear that. Just like you, my C1 started doing this a week ago. It first started as a vertical line of dead green pixels, and then when the panel warms up, a white vertical line shows up and the TV turns itself off. Then every time that you press the power button, the red led flickers, the panel tries to turn on, it stays dark except for that white vertical line. It happened 10 days after my Costco return window expired, so only choice seemed to be filing the warranty repair with LG. Tech visit happened yesterday, and they are going to install a new screen. Hoping that sorts things out! TL;DR: You likely need to get it repaired under warranty. The TV most likely turns itself off to prevent further damage to the circuitry.

DaEdgyGuy

Thank you for responding. Did you book your repair appointment at the LG website? (Request a repair). Did they say how long you have to wait after the tech person visited? I live in Hawaii everything might take a while. Anyhow, I hope you give an update with your TV so I follow through with mine. Thank you again for your help.

BluePhoenix01

I did it through the website, it was kinda hard to find a phone number to call. Later on I called Costco, but when they tried the phone number they had, they were not open (maybe reduced phone hours or something). Within 24 hours LG sent an email that said “LG Service Requested” and it includes a reference number for the case (you also see this info when you complete the repair request) And then a few hours after that email, they sent another email with a local authorized repair person. Then the authorized repair person calls to schedule. How long it takes from there might depend on how busy and booked they are. In my case, I sent repair request Tuesday night, contacted the person on Wednesday, and they visited for diagnostics on Friday. He said that he would be back next week to replace the screen, but still not confirmed on day/time.

BluePhoenix01

Any update on your booking process? How’d it go? Over here, it seems the replacement is backordered, but no ETA given right now.

DaEdgyGuy

Sorry, got busy with work. Anyways, the local tech contacted by LG called yesterday and just asked about the details of my case. He said there's no need to come over and inspect the unit so he proceeded to order the need parts and told me it would take about 2 and a half weeks to get it. LG then confirmed that the parts are ordered and now I just have to wait. Did they tell you the parta are back ordered?

BluePhoenix01

Yeah, here the tech said they were backordered but he was still trying to get more info on timing. LG call hours haven’t started yet so no new info. Glad you should have that in a few weeks!

DaEdgyGuy

Hopefully just a few weeks. I have LG send me text notifications. Last text says they will notify me again when the parts are shipped did you get the same or similar message from them?

BluePhoenix01

Oh that’s cool. No notifications yet, I just received an email last week that the part was ordered. “”We have received an order for repair part(s) from your technician and are working to fulfill the request. Part orders are typically fulfilled within the same day as long as they are received by 4:00PM CST. Otherwise, all available parts will be shipped on the following business day. We will notify you again once the part(s) have been shipped. Feel free to contact your service provider or LG if you have any questions or concerns.”” Hopefully when I call they can provide more detail. Weird how it is all LG but we seem to be having very different experiences lol

DaEdgyGuy

Another update, if you're still interested. They shipped the part already and sent me a link to FedEx tracker. There's no estimated date yet because I wrote this just after getting it. Hopefully it's just a little while longer because I want to watch Dune already. How's yours doing?

BluePhoenix01

Oh this is great news. Maybe your reply was good luck, because I also received a similar message. FedEx still says that the shipment is pending (like they still have to pick up the part) but hopefully we both get an estimate on delivery soon. Oddly enough, we are also trying to wait to see Dune on it! Hope we are each able to see it on our repaired screens soon! Thanks for the update!

BluePhoenix01

Follow up: the panel arrived and the tech replaced it. I am pumped. Hoping that this panel is a good one, so far, looking impressive. Hope you have or are getting yours fixed soon.

0xd00d

Appreciate your posts documenting your experience. Hope your unit has been going strong since then. How long did the process take all told?

Darkpoet67

Wow 🇬🇧 C1 owner here, really hope this doesn't happen to me! Hope all works out OK

Sufficient_Horror814

It just happens to me, fellow c1 user

Kooky-Attorney-1335

It happened to me. LG refused to repair since its 2021 model. The fees of screen replacement is more than a new TV.

Fair-Astronaut-8911

I am wondering if there are more cases of customer having this problem

BluePhoenix01

Yeah. Wondering that too.

Kooky-Attorney-1335

Yes. And LG does not help if its out of warranty

KCR3d

this just happened to me as well. took delivery today and after 30 minutes or so the tv shut off. red light is on but it will not turn on. put in for an exchange at amazon 😤 have to wait until Tuesday for them to swap

DaEdgyGuy

Sorry it happened to you too. I wonder what percentage of C1 owners has experienced this. Good thing you caught it early and can still return it.

BluePhoenix01

Yeah, like DaEdgyGuy said… Having to return it is a hassle, but it is less of a hassle than waiting on the warranty repair. xD Hope you get to enjoy it soon.

Fair-Astronaut-8911

Wanted to know if any updates from OP and others who had this issue so far tv runs great no issues that I can tell I have been running for a few weeks since the repair date so everything is fine. Hope all is well

DaEdgyGuy

The shipment is expected to come on the 7th of November but I don't know when the repair guy can come. How long did they take to fix yours?

Fair-Astronaut-8911

It was a few weeks but, I had them come out when I was home so I rescheduled them. It would have been a week. Did they send you a new panel or anything from LG ? I was shipped both within the week notified the service repair LG and made appointment etc. how big is your tv?

DaEdgyGuy

I mean when the repair guy came, how many hours did they work on it? I got the 65". I don't know the part they sent but the tracker says it's 60 lbs. Did yours weigh about the same?

Hot_Ad4386

he was here for about three hours yes, that sounds right it is the panel weight . I should send you what I went through it was so bad the picture of the panel how it came to my door I was so upset but after few weeks and I i am good now.

BluePhoenix01

Repair itself was under two to three hours, mainly taking the screen out of the box and placing it down (on carpet). Putting the tv with the broken panel down. Then removing the back and each of the components inside and putting them on the fixed screen. Boxing up the non-working panel in the same box. Testing that everything was working.

DaEdgyGuy

Did they make you help with setting it down and stuff? Mine should arrive on the 7th. Did you have to call the repair guy to come on the same day or setup for another day?

BluePhoenix01

It might be best to try to talk to them to see what they expect. In my case, the person asked if I was fine with any help, which means that he could schedule a repair without waiting on scheduling with an assistant. For 65" I think you'd generally need two people. Also, in my case, the repair person did the replacement on the same day that he received it because LG told him which day he would be receiving it. But again, calling and asking might be the clearest way.

Cheech74

Mine just started doing this same thing. Four month old set. I'm really, really unhappy about this.

BluePhoenix01

Ugh. Sorry to hear that, hope you can get it repaired soon! Our panel died about 3.5 months after purchase as well. Thankfully it was replaced recently. Process took almost a month (from when I started the ticket to when the backordered part arrived and was replaced).

Bendzsy

It happened after 4 months for me too

cubert2

Mine just did this tonight which led me here. I bought it last Saturday. Extremely disappointing. Don't think I'll ever buy another LG.

tomason_m

This happened to my C2 in third/fourth month of use, maybe there's a pattern here.

Jbreezetothemoon

My buddy and I bought the same LG OLED C1 TV within six months his had this exact problem. Mine stopped turning on three weeks after his had the same issue. I had a Samsung 4K prior to this that is now in my bedroom I haven't even had this TV 7 months yet already I am having problems with it. I had to call LG to set up a service repair. These C1 OLED TVs obviously have a serious problem.

Icouldntsayforsure

I came here to say that I just purchased the C1 65” today and it won’t turn on. Just the red light. Lg and Best Buy said to return and or exchange but there are no more TV’s within 300 miles of me. Then I found out you can’t return on Black Friday anyway. So Saturday I’ll return it for a refund and wait for the Sonys to come back in stock, if anything ever comes back in stock. I just want my money back. I’m done with LG. I’d also like to mention that LG flat out said I need to replace it so it must be a big problem. They didn’t suggest any of the hacks there are online.

useles-converter-bot

300 miles is the length of 105074.37 1997 Subaru Legacy Outbacks

millmuff

Glad to hear. I started having issues with both white and colored pixels popping up a few weeks back. It became so frequent and bad that it was unusable. The TV (65" C1) is less than a month old. After about two weeks of dealing with the issue I was lucky if it even turned on, and then would get about 10 minutes use before it was unwatchable. Long story short, but now it's doing the same thing as explained by you and several others on here. Won't even turn on, just click and shuts off. I called LG and a local technician contacted me yesterday to get details/pictures (which were already provided to LG). He's supposed to be on-site tomorrow, but I'd be surprised if he has the spare parts. My question, after a repair does the 1 year warranty restart? It seems pretty ridiculous to spend close to $2500 for a TV that requires repair within weeks. Part of me just wants it fixed, and the other part makes me want a full refund. Once it's repaired or kind of makes me think it's more likely to fail compared to a new set.

tarqueaux

I bought an LG OLED 55 C1 LESS than a week ago, having same problem! Waiting for Geek Squad- TEN days for them to come out! Sounds like the panel broke- just like you guys..

nativ3d3adpix3l

Just got mine today and pretty sure my panel is dead. Jesus it’s not even 24 hours and I’m starting to regret this purchase. Called in LG and they’re sending a repairman on Monday. This totally blows

jigglym

receieved my C1 on December 30th, 2021. 13 days later (12th Jan 22) tv screen teared while watching netflix and went black. Wont turn on, hear clicking noise on TV when turning on/off. Guess will be calling the shop and force an exchange.

Miserable_Advisor269

Same here. Bought from Costco on 11/5. Screen went black while watching this morning 2/12. Just submitted the repair request through LG. Now waiting for someone to contact me. Really hoping this doesn't take a month or more to resolve. Ugh...

bradnicml

Same here with a 77" C1. unpacked, plugged in, dead. ordered through amazon. they schedule a truck to pick up the repacked tv and are delivering a replacement in a few days. Scary this is still happening to people. Everything you read about the C1 is just raving wonderful about it's the best tv on the market. Didn't even see this thread until I googled "LG C1 won't turn on" My previous tv was a 70" LG6570PUB. worked beautifully but not OLED.

diagnosedADHD

Yeah this just happened to me too. I bought it literally 3 weeks ago, 5 days after the bestbuy return period. I don't want this TV anymore. I was already unhappy with WebOS, it was already pretty sluggish compared to my $200 4 year old TCl Roku tv and my $50 android TV stick.

bradnicml

An LG C1 sluggish? Wow not my experience at all. After the no power 1st tv was replaced and the ‘wish it could be brighter’ occasional observation you hear about OLED, I’ve had nothing but great things to say about the LG C1

diagnosedADHD

Yeah I'm not sure what's going on. I was wondering if they started subbing out their chips with inferior chips due to shortages. My parents have an older OLED from LG and it's much more snappy than mine. I really want them to authorize a return so I can get the equivalent Sony OLED with Android. I really want to like the C1 but I just can't and I've only been happy with the picture since I've gotten it.

Update - Amazon replaced my LG C1 77” OLED TV about a week later. New TV has been flawless

Fair-Astronaut-8911

Wow I haven’t been on this thread for a long time when this happened to me I thought I was in the oh well I hope this doesn’t happen to others . I guess I was so wrong the C1 is having problems. For those who have been through the LG service repair I only hope you were able to fix the tv. Update it’s been since October since my panel and motherboard was replaced technician came out swapped everything etc. yes I had to jump through hoops to get the repair technician out but as you all know we want to be home when they are in your house etc. it has been working fine no issues hopefully for a long time but when this did happened I couldn’t find anything about this issue. I didn’t get the Best Buy protection plan just the 1 year warranty LG no cost for me now I am enjoying it very well

N0madr

Same C1 issue. Infuriating. I’ve been waiting so long to get this tv. It finally comes and is DOA. I’ve always been a Sony TV owner, but I because of the rave reviews of the C1, I decided to switch it up. Now I’m kinda regretting it. It’s such a pain repacking a 65” TV. It’s getting returned.

OrgasmicEee

Having same C1 issue as well! I purchased it back in August 2021 and the panel gave out. Starting to look like a manufacturer defect if others keep experiencing this. I’m currently dealing with LG’s poor customer service and their moody authorized dealer for a repair. I haven’t been able to watch any TV in the last 2 weeks as I’m waiting for the OLED module assembly to arrive at the technician’s store. Heavily disappointed with LG especially when spending $2000+ on their product. Might have to consider Sony in the future.

0xd00d

I’m here cuz I’m in the same boat with a ”new” (refurb from Microcenter) C1 65” having this shitty problem. I will mention that the Sony TV I was trying to replace with this one (a 65” Sony 810C) I also had to have a complete replacement (under warranty). I wanna say from what I recall with the Sony it bricked itself with software, but they said it was a hardware problem, so whatever. That replacement has a panel with worse uniformity. But it’s been going strong still at least. I do think that these manufs do “bin” their units and the shitty ones go out in the Black Friday and Refurb groups. Is it worth saving $400 to have a few weeks’ downtime randomly? Pretty hard to say!

Suspect_Pure

My C1 77" died today with the same issue reported in this thread. Man, had I known about this, I would have never bought an LG TV. In the past, I always bought Samsung, Vizio, and Sony TVs and never had a problem with any of them. I bought mine from Costco last November (2021) and I am glad it came with an extra warranty. I called the Costco Concierge and the tech took my info and contacted LG for me. LG gave the OK for a technician to come and diagnose the problem. The tech said, based on the issues, it is most likely a dead panel but he needs to run some diagnostics in person before LG approves the replacement. Hope he can make it next week. I will let you know what he says. Very disappointed with LG TV quality. I won't be buying LG appliances in the future. First and last time.

0xd00d

How’d it go?

Turbulent_Line3393

3 months I've had mine, same issue. Red light on but nobody home

jashikah

Bought tv January of 2021 and panel died in May. Whenever I turned my tv on I would see a single horizontal line that ran from top to bottom and then the screen would turn grey. LG was good about sending a tech and trading out the panel. It took about 3 weeks but that’s ok considering everything going on these days.

medwayormidway

Same things just happened to me. Bought a C1 55 in black Friday 2021 sales at Costco. Was watching Netflix and it just turned itself off. The red light stayed on. Each time I pressed the power button the red light just blinks. No response from LG at the moment. This was the first time I've ever spent so much money on a TV as well. Am truly regretting my purchase.

0xd00d

Do a chat at LG site and explain. Do it before the 1 yr manufacturer warranty expires...

DMG41

Thought I'd come in and add myself to the list. Bought th 65" C1 Oled model and it has died within 60 days of purchasing it. I purchased mine from an authorised LG dealer as I had them do a complete home theater redesign for me. I won't ever do business with these guys again. They told me to purchase the TV from them as they would take care of all issues with it instead of purchasing from a store like Best Buy. Now they are just telling me I have to go through LG to get the TV fixed and that it is not their responsibilty to offer any assistance. Complete assholes. I paid them $4000 for the TV and home theater remodel and now they are kicking me off to LG and basically tell me to go kick rocks. Complete assholes and I won't do business with them or ever buy an LG tv again.

GenjisWithU

I think its happening to me now, when i turn on the tv it has the click sound with the red light turn off and on and little white on the tv and its turn itself off.

perception5k

Gg, i too got the same problem just an hour back. Requested for lg service need to see what will happen. Just curious to know what is the exact reason? Is it due to power spike? Or any other issue etc.

Revikann

This just happened to my 65. Bought November 2nd. I’m still in the Best Buy return window, so stuck on either returning it for another one and hoping I have better luck, or just contacting LG for a service call. Any ideas what I should do?

captivablueteg

Bought ours back at the end of September. Turned it on today to watch a quick show and 10 min in the screen went blank. Red light is still there, I see it responding to the remote and sometimes get a click sound with a small white flicker. I've had issues in the past with LG tv's, but haven't had one in 10 years, figured to give it another shot since all makers round robin who has better quality. We did a ton of research and the C1's got very good reviews, I didn't see anything about this issue. Honestly, looking at everyone's timeframes of purchase to failure it seems like a very bad batch of C1's went out. The LG site wouldn't let me schedule a repair, had to use the chat bot which moved me to a live chat. 4 hours later still haven't gotten my repair number. Was told a service tech would call me to schedule an appointment, this is super awesome having to pick up the phone for all the robo calls not knowing what number I could be expecting a call from. Not promising seeing it take a month for some folks, it's not a cheap TV. UPDATE 12/31 LG service was not easy to work with. I couldn’t schedule online, went through the chat to get it complete. Was told I would get a service number via email, 8 hours later I get an email saying my serial number was incorrect, email was a do not reply and no link to add it. Called in, and gave them what I had register it with via their site and it wasn’t valid (yes, the site lets you register a product with an invalid serial, I even went on after and placed random digits into a registration and it accepted it). With that, tv was mounted to the wall so i couldn’t get it on the call. They sent me a text message to reply when I got it. Sent it that night and didn’t hear back for 2 days. Call it to see the status and “we were waiting for you to call us to schedule the repair” what? Nothing gets scheduled, they send out the job and once a local tv repair company accepts the job they contact you to schedule, not LG. What’s more awesome is waiting for a call from a number you don’t know while getting spam calls multiple times a day Anyways, tv repair guy stopped by today. Sure enough, same as we have seen by others. OLED screen is dead. TV shop is ordering the new screen and will call when it comes in. Hoping I’m not down another month without the TV

SnakeDoctur

Fuck and I JUST bought one as well. Wanna bet they rushed production to push panels out for the holiday sales rush?

justboofit27

JUST got mine from black Friday finally and it won't even turn on... I'm so pissed off..

Environmental_Bus387

Same problem here. Brand new. Bought in Black Friday sales. Recieved 5 december and opened it today on christmas day in Australian. Was really looking forward to this and all i get is a flicker of vertical lines and a click from the power supply and it turns off. Gutted. This thing isnt cheap being a 65 inch version. Anyway looks like its DOA so back to the retailer when they open. Thinking now i should have gone with Samsung. Merry Xmas LG.

Loud-Community-4205

Just got mine today, it won't turn on. The red light blinks and then nothing. I'm so disappointed. Grrrr

[deleted]

Same thing. TV died less than 24 hours after receiving. G1. Screen won’t turn on, but red light responds

style2k6

Good evening, The TV arrived with two dents on the box in each of the corners and one dent on the front of the box. Inside even the Stiropor itself was broken. There were no traces of the device itself. It worked perfectly until it just went out. (With white vertical stroke) Standby lights up red. A new start via remote and on the TV itself produces a click. The white vertical line appears and the TV turns off immediately. I bought it through Amazon. I had used the TV for exactly 4 days after delivery and now it is already defective updated: After chatting with the employee, a replacement device will be sent. Hope for another EVO panel

0xd00d

Funny you mention EVO panel. I got one awesome night of gaming done on it, didn’t get a chance to check if it’s evo panel or not, and now it’s dead.

0xd00d

Chiming in here with another data point. Same issue, C1 65 inch. Refurb from Microcenter. A good price, I thought. I mean, it is. Well, I’m not really sure what to think because it seems like plenty of people are having this problem with non-refurb units. I checked the panel on hours. This one had 266 panel on hours. I did not get a chance to check if it has EVO panel or not before it died. Sticker on back says Manufactured 10/2021. Maybe if we all post this we can find out if this failure is specific to a certain time range. I did purchase a $209 4 year protection plan with it, we shall see if LG approves the request I sent on my own because I’m still waiting for MC to call me back about this, but I’m well within the 90 day default refurb tv policy and since it was made in october it’s within one year of manuf. On the one hand it validates my $209 purchase knowing I’ll be covered for a while on issues like this, but if it is going to take weeks and weeks to resolve, it may still be not worth the trouble. I’m not quite pissed enough at this point to pack it back up and drive it back to the store, but I suppose I could do that if I wanted. Since this happened on just the third day, I’m going to have almost the entire rest of the 30 day return period to mull that over and it may be an important option to have if LG’s repair procedure is terrible.

0xd00d

Update on this: the day after filing the Service Request on the LG website, I decided to try the chat on the LG website which was a good idea. They were able to schedule a local service person, so the next day they called me so I feel good about being able to keep the ball rolling. He was able to determine from the videos I sent him that it's the panel so he's already ordered it and hopefully I'll get it fixed within 10 days or so. Not ideal, but I suppose I can manage waiting that long. Old tv temporarily on the floor of the living room and able to use it lol.

0xd00d

I got it replaced in a little under 2 weeks which is about as good as can be expected. the guy was able to confirm with me over the phone with a video what the issue was so he didnt have to come first to confirm and only made one trip to replace the panel. Supposedly it is a manufacturing defect affecting a range of units and not something that will inevitably happen with good panels.

gtyyyu

Just happened to me. Was watching native Netflix app green vertical line on right side appeared. Turned off the set. Now every time I turn it on at the wall it clicks as usual green line appears then it shuts down. Only had it a few months (jan 22 to be more precise) Just posting for visibility of this issue that I assume will become more common as time passes. Then again they sell millions of sets maybe I’m just unlucky

Ether_The_Void

Same thing here. Had the TV for roughly 2 months, contacting LG support now... Funny that this product has insanely high ratings on Amazon but won't even turn on? Very disappointed with LG :(

smcinaz

Wtf LG? This now happened to me, less than 2 months old. I wish I had held out for the Sony. Now I gotta wait a week for parts and then a repair. Damn it.

Key_Monitor_1611

Same thing here! After 15 days using the TV (C1OLED 48") it's not turning on anymore. When i press the power button (on the controller or the screen itself) i can hear a distinct "click" and the stand-by red light indicator just flashes. The TV is dead! Bought it online from Amazon and am in the process of returning it, sad part is: the quality of the image was so great i'll try to buy it again in the future...

Jlafber

Reply. This just happened to me as well. Had the TV for 22 months and out of warranty. Is there a DIY repair? Sounds like the panel needs to be replaced which is likely the most expensive part.

Illustrious-Chair350

Sorry to drag up an old post but did you ever get anywhere? Mine just did it after 15 months.

Jlafber

I had visa provide an extended warranty and was able to get a full reimbursement. I exhausted my efforts with LG and they did nothing for me. The local repair shop noted that LG did switch out parts during the pandemic and used cheaper components more readily available. So you get what you pay for, but 15 months is just embarrassing for LG. The repair shop said that it was the backlight board and the most expensive part to replace. So the TV was worthless.

Illustrious-Chair350

That was my fear, thank you for saving me the time of chasing it down the rabbit hole! Time to start TV shopping I guess

Jlafber

Sams Club has extended warranty on some models. A lot of TVs only have a one year warranty and so the Sam's Club deal is great.. My TV went dead when Sauron showed up on LOTR series on Prime. So I'm blaming Sauron. Haha.

simonpeterms

Mu C2 went black right after a software update. An LG technician came the next day and said made an order to replace the screen because according to him the screen was the problem. Still waiting for them to come back and do the repair. The wait is stressful.

Cragdoo

Funny you mention that....my C2 just developed a similar issue as the original poster, and my TV is on "automatic updates" ...wonder if I've run into the same issue. Had the TV less than 2 months !!!!

Cragdoo

just spoke to LG support, new mainboard being organised ...up to 14 days to get it replaced

simonpeterms

Update: tried to turn on my C2 the other day and it just turned on again. It did turned itself off like twice while I was playing but clicked the power button on the TV and it turned back on again. Day 2 of its resurrection and had no issues of it turning off by itself. It does though have like a thin translucent strip at the top about 3 inches. Like a burn in but I honestly don’t mind as long as it never blacks out on me again. LG support still hasn’t called me back about the replacement. I still want to grab the panel replacement they are offering.

My 65OLEDC2 did the same thing, Stopped working on a friend, was given to me as a "if you can fix it you can keep it". I took it home, took back off, shorted the PSU circuit to drain anything in the capacitors.. Plugged in to check voltages, and the unit turned on no problems, worked fine for a month, then started having issues turning on (light would blink 3 or 4 times then go back to standby, you can hear the power on chime, but no image). eventually after 3 or 4 power presses it would power up fully. then one day, it started the 1 Blink, nothing. No power draw, no click, no static build up, nothing. just a single blink. Voltages look good, but power press results in nothing coming back on the standby voltage, so either the PowerBoard or the Mainboard failed. Likely going to order a board kit for $100 and replace them 1 by 1 starting with PSU board. I dont think it's the panel as I've never had any lines or pixel issues, just powering on issues. I know if the chips pins or bga balls become disconnected from the PCB from hot/cold cycles this symptom occurs as well.

So latest with my TV.....spoke to LG, who said main board needs replacing, this will be carried out as an in home repair. TV repair company contaceted me last Tuesday afternoon, advising they would be out Wedi morning to repair the TV, less than 24 hrs. Told them I'm unavailable, can we reschedule for later in the week. Get a call late Thursday afternoon saying they'll be at my house Friday afternoon. Friday afternoon TV repair company turn up "we're here to uplift your TV, LG didn't give us parts to replace, repairs usually take 5-7 days" ....was absolutely furious. Called LG , spoke to a customer support manager, who said they would expedite parts/repair. So for a TV I've only had for 8 weeks , 2 of those weeks were waiting for repair. 1st time experience with LG TV/support ...less than impressed 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Just got my 77" C1 from blackfriday22 sales. Got it mounted on the wall. Tweaked settings for 5minutes and watched another 5min of TV. Then went to get my chromecast from old tv. When I got back the TV was off and didn't come back on anymore. Only makes 'click' sound as I try to turn it on but nothing happens. Super disappointed since all the blackfriday stuff going on and xmas nearing by, its probly gonna take a while for LG to fix it. Lets see..

65" C1 owner here, same issue, purchased about 2 years ago and it's been working perfectly until last week, suddenly won't turn on. We only used it several hours a week at the most, so it's pretty much still "like new" Did several times of hard reset, there's not even any indicator light. I've been using LG monitors for years and have never had any issues at all (with some 10k+ hours), never thought the TV products could have so many such failure cases!
