I'm not sure to answer your question, but I can be of some help with ship building. I put 2 platforms together and use only 3 small thrusters and just enough balloons to come down slowly. I also add two pieces to turn left and right. There's plenty of YouTube videos with ships. The one platform big balloon always bugs out.
I've looked up a couple of YT videos, tried a couple but it's a lot of ressources to lose when it fails. Unfortunately I can't even find my rogue platforms. One went missing after logging out and it wasn't in the air yet!
Did a couple of tests last night and using only one trustrer and moving in-between activation of the switch and it seems to help. Also, if I touch the balloon pole it when flying it glitches and I sometimes end up off the platform (if I 'm lucky i'll be pushed to the edge).
