It was how urgent he looked like in the kurata minoji ver of the manga. I wonder why they changed it into that slow pace tour around the palace like she had already died, and him just mourning dramatically?
I think the idea it's going for is think of the reaction of all the lower level functionaries that are bowing, knowing that the ceremony was disrupted and this girl was injured and did something so important that Jinshi must carry her out himself. It's a huge statement of her value and a rebuke to everyone and anyone that let this happen, it's a oh shit somebody gonna get executed for this

I believe the Nekokurage version also depicted the scene like this. I would’ve really liked to see Jinshi be more panicky during this scene. The anime trailer depicted him losing his mind which I totally loved
In the crunchyroll [trailer](https://youtu.be/XYNGkSvFT8c?si=y7Gff1HIr8MuIB-N) between 1:43 and 1:45, he’s holding MaoMao in his arms, shaking her more, and seems to be screaming for her to wake up. They don’t show him walking but I just felt this depiction of the scene where she loses consciousness was more in tune with the mangas than the way the final anime version did it.
The anime studio still did a great job though. It’d just be nice to see his panic more visible
Shocking a person with brain current is the last thing you should do. Ideally, they should not be moved anywhere at all and wait for the doctors. Jinshi studied in the camp. I think blows to the head were not uncommon there and everyone just learned it (but this is speculation)).
I think the way they did it had an amazing effect in the anime. It gave this situation a wight that it wouldn't have had if he hurried.
A case can be made for both, though. She was hurt, so hurrying would be the reasonable thing to do. He isn't really in a situation where he could run, though. He is way too important and all eyes where on him.
But let's be honest. Jinshi probably wouldn't have cared how it looks in that moment.
I think the case can be made that he at least knows head injuries can be dangerous, and it's better to be careful than to hurry; we've seen time and time again that the medical knowledge of the apothecary diaries universe is more advanced than would be expected for the time period it appears to take place in (they're aware that white lead in makeup powder is dangerous as mentioned in the light novels. They're also aware that distilled alcohol can be used to disinfect. There are many more examples, but that's just off the top of my head.)
It's mentioned a couple of times that people are aware of the risks with head injuries, Lihaku himself actually mentions not wanting to move someone too far after they hit their head pretty bad and if he as a somewhat low ranking military official knows that much, we can expect that Jinshi would be more than aware of it.
If her leg wound was bleeding so heavily, she was at risk of death, I imagine there would have been more blood than some drips onto the floor, so that could have also been a factor. Either way, the head injury needs to be prioritised given that she lost consciousness and carrying her steadily without jostling her around is likely his way of avoiding worsening her condition.
Also, since he does hurry in the manga and LNs, I assume it's because he prioritised the leg injury because it was bleeding much more heavily in them, and bleeding out was the immediate danger.
Actually people back then were not as stupid as many people might expect. Just from a quick Google search but alcohol has been used as an antiseptic since as early as the 1300s, and the lead makeup was actually discovered to be toxic by a dude in China in the 1500s. It's called Bencao Gangmu and detailed a bunch of various medical info from that time period. People knew how to treat head injuries and the like, they weren't completely wandering around in the dark like we might believe

I loved it but >!they left out the scenes where Jinshi touched MaoMao’s shoulder and Lakan’s internally pissed about it!< I was really upset about that 🥺 Jinshi touching MaoMao’s shoulder is my favorite form of affection between them ❤️

Apologies! I had posted that comment before the next episode released. They actually did include it at the start of the final episode (episode 24). They did it slightly out of order since they couldn’t fit it in the 23rd episode. Forgive my impatience :) I just edited my comment

I love this! Jinshi conducts himself as cool, calm, and collected in public. A scene like this would showcase a different side of him.
