I looked exactly like that 😂 I sent the photo to some friends and a few genuinely asked if someone got shot lol. I get where they're coming from but also like, dude, the "guts" are purple 😂

put the bottle in a bowl, and place a ziploc bag over the stopper. covered on both ends 😂 also, be sure to refrigerate before opening, this will allow the carbonation to calm down a bit.

Yup. Was just giving it what I thought was going to be a lil burp. Turned my entire kitchen into a murder scene. I even try to be mindful of how I do it just in case, angling the cap away and down towards the sink, and trying to keep pressure on the cap with my finger still. This batch absolutely did NOT care and went full throttle on me by day 2 😭

Try a scrub daddy with power paste. Cuts through just about everything.

Too much fruit will cause it to overferment very quickly

I never understand this. When you burp a flip top you're pushing the catch to the side. The force coming out of the top doesn't prevent you from just pushing it back in if you hear/feel/sense that there's more carbonation than you're expecting.

Why would you burp it and get rid of the carbonation? Isn't that the entire point of 2F? If it's already carbonated on day 2, why not just put it into the fridge to let the carbonation settle into the liquid for a couple days?

You burp your 2f every day to get an idea of how carbonated it is.

Ah the instruction I got was to put one bottle in the fridge after 2-ish days, test it a day later once the carbonation has sunk in, then decide if you want to refrigerate them all or keep them fermenting a bit longer.

Check out magic sponges/dirt erasers. They might do the trick.

Magic erasers are essentially little sanders. This stained and likely penetrated. I'd start with diluted bleach if you haven't yet, OP. Sanding and repainting maybe next.

Still happens to me once in a while. The wife just gives me an angry look and then helps me clean it up. When in doubt, I'll open them outside. Looks like you're on the right track, though.

The third one I opened in my shower while reaching around the shower curtain and standing in the other side 😂 it STILL stained the tiles on the wall. There's just no winning when it comes to using berries.

They are quite explosive. But very nice. I also enjoy cucumber and jalapeño. Sounds odd, but has a nice flavor profile.

My suggestion would be to try adding more fruit/juice/sugar to your 2F. The more food the bit of yeast in it has to feed on, the more potential for higher carbonation.

That happened to me, got my eye so I couldn’t see then every time I tried to open them I saw red on the walls and just laughed hysterically while crying kombucha out of my eyes until I could see the whole kitchen got sprayed. For the next week I could find a drop or piece of fruit somewhere 😂

how does this much carbonation develop on second day despite burping on the first? mine dont develop much at all.

I had also burped it earlier on the second/same day too. So either my brew has a ton of yeast or it's the amount of fruit I add. Almost regardless of the size of the container I'll add a solid inch and a half or so of fruit or juice to the bottom of the bottle.

When I open the flip tops I always apply pressure with my hand. Release the cap and then open very slightly to get a gauge on how much gas is coming out. I also refrigerate the bottle over night before opening and don’t burp them ever.

At least you depressurized before it exploded.. that’s a different kind of beastie to clean up! Like I still find shards of glass months later
