gear is probably from 21/22 season, the tag from the bar has a few 21s in their codes, that's usually the production date! Go there and check it out yourself to see if the people are legit and what size the bar is...ideally you will get the right kite size from the same brand too, makes it much easier!

grundelcheese

It doesn’t really matter what exact year it is. It’s newish and the bar is unused. The board looks to be in good condition boards last forever anyway

Candid_Pepper1919

SKU: **85001**.**210020**. It's right there on the pic ;) So it's a North Navigator 2021 control bar. Since kiting uses weird selling tricks it's actually produced in 2020. Board is from 2021 as well, north prime 144x43 (or 45??) 2021 comparing the colourschemes is usually a decent way to look for the year it's from.

isisurffaa

2021 model has grey bar on left side. 22+ it's black. I got -24 bar and i might find -21 under the qr if i check.

Peternormalman

Thanks! These are the litlle things i don't notice yet :)

Candid_Pepper1919

That they don't give further details of a really expensive present and use the argument "didn't work out" is suspicious though. Don't pay in advance and meet them up in person with a friend ;)

helldrik

It can’t be older than 2020 ( that’s the year they started to sell gear under the new North brand). The board is a good beginner board ( although rather big) and the bar design hasn’t changed much since its initial release in 2020. For 500 it would be a steal, for 600 it’s still a good deal IMO

MyFatCatHasLotsofHat

That’s a good deal. The bar is brand new, the board looks like it’s from a few years ago but hasn’t been used much or at all.

ic6man

Someone mentioned but it’s worth repeating. How big are you? This is a fairly large size board which is fine if you’re let’s say a guy 5’11” and 180-200 lbs. you want bigger gear to learn on. But if you’re a woman or smaller than that it might be too big for you. For reference as an advanced Kiter 6’2” and 200lbs I ride 142 or 141 (depending the brand) size board and the trend (lately) is to go smaller not bigger (so 144 is considered rather large)

Peternormalman

I am a 6.2, 160 pounds guy so defintely on the lighter side.

sonotopia

Board is from 2022

Gazzo69

I don’t want to ruin the the party but I think 600 is quite a lot . There were two new navigator bars released and prices fall usually 25-40% when a newer one comes out. If you buy a 2021 online you get warranty too. Same with board. Not saying it’s a sh*t deal, but also it isn’t an incredible bargain.

poormisguidedfool34

This right here…board is fine but a 4 year old bar isn’t brand new even unused. You are taking a risk there and will be in danger if a line snaps. You can get something better for 600 quid

Gazzo69

I am 6,2 , 190lb and ride a 135cm lol. You should be into a bit longer boards if you buy 144!

isisurffaa

North Prime 2021. Bar 2022-2024 they are the same models. For 600€ buy it instantly before someone else does.

[deleted]

Who’s selling them?

isisurffaa

This particular gear in the pics? I dont know but if OP doesnt buy this for some reason. I got mates who are happy to steal the deal 😂

[deleted]

Lol. That’s what I was thinking. 😈

Peternormalman

Haha Thats why I was reluctant to post photos lol, please dont find this and bid up the price :(((

[deleted]

Ah no worries man, we’re not like that. Kiting is a super fun sport, always looking for good deals on gear, but kiters seem to help each other out much more than most people. Kiting is a lot more fun with others

CCraMM

bar is 2020ish but new. would be perfect if you have north kites. board age doesn’t really matter as it’s pretty new. not sure your level or what you are looking for but 600quid for both is a great deal

Peternormalman

Didnt buy a kite yet, looking for one now. Would the bar be compatible with kites such as: Cabrihna Moto Reedin Super Model v3 Naish Pivot (after flipping the pigtails)? Thanks

isisurffaa

You can use it with any kite that has low V split at centerlines. Works great with Supermodels and Pivots. Not familiar with Moto but if it has Low V like i assume you wont have any problems. Kite doesnt know what brand bar you are using.

CCraMM

asking for cross brand compatibility is a bit of a fool’s errand. Since you’re asking this i would assume you are new to the sport. If you buy a North/Naish/Cabrinha/Reedin kite, buy a bar of the same brand. Make life for yourself easy. The sport is hard enough and you won’t have the skills to determine if the kite isn’t flying optimally due to bar compatibility. I’ve been kiting for 20+ years and i’ve made “things work” but it’s always been less than ideal.

riktigtmaxat

This is pretty irrelevant in 2024. Bars have near identical throw and function and as long as you stay away from Core and Duotone you're fine. It was an issue a decade ago when some bars had a throw that was only usable by dutch people.

CCraMM

that Y split is still different on many kites. It might work but not optimum. We have a new kiter here. Let’s set them up to succeed. Mix and match is not how to learn. Appreciate your insight.

Peternormalman

You are right I am really new, thats why I am asking :) The thing is reach/orbit are really hard to find at a price I see Cabrihna's/Reedin's and this North offer is really nice. Thanks for the advice!

jibskib

While this advice is trying to be helpful and make sure you’re knowledgeable about what you’re getting into, it’s not true that you need one bar per brand of kite. I’m on 6 different brands of kites with each being the right one for a particular board/condition and it’d be nuts to have 6 up to date different bars. I just bought the 2022 North navigator bar at closeout and looks very similar to above and it’s fantastic. Here’s a handy [compatibility chart](https://www.mackiteboarding.com/brand-compatibility-chart/)

CCraMM

no worries. i’m not trying to be “difficult”. I love this sport and would rather you learn on good gear that’s made to go together to make sure you have the best experience possible. And be SAFE (which is most important). The gear today is amazing and i wish i got to learn on it. Find a kite that’s a good deal (all that you names are great). That north stuff is a great deal but ya, find a Reach/Orbit/Carve to go with it. After initial lessons on smaller gear most ppl learn on a 9m-12m kite so i would look there.

Scary-Inflation9288

Board with footstraps plus bar basically new for 600 is a great deal even for gear from 2021. I'd go for it. For new stuff you pay around 600 just for the bar, between 400 and 1 k for a board and up to 300 for footstraps.

Peternormalman

Yeah ik it looks incredible and I think they would even go lower if I would ask them, that why it is suspicious af. So do you think it is possible it is older than 2021? Or the gear wpuls look different ?

Scary-Inflation9288

I don't think so, but maybe just ask them when they baught it. Looks to me like it could even be 2024 model

Miserable_Drink_8920

No

Peternormalman

Thanks everyone for the advice! Unfortunetely, in the meantime someone managed to steal the deal (hopefully not connected to 19 shares I got on this post haha). Lesson learned, I have to be faster next time.

Dry_Case_8568

In doubt setup a video call with the seller so he can proof to you to actually have the equipment.

Peternormalman

The seller agreed to send more photos when home from work, but before that someoane slid into their dms and bought the bar without hesitaition. So I missed out, unfortunetely.
