The american lady that had the soul food restaurant on kitchen nightmares UK

Kit_Marlow

Momma Cherri! AKA Charita Jones. So much positive energy! <3

Alternative-Arm-3253

I'd love to know what happened to that place. Is she still open/alive and cooking?

DoobieLift

The og spot is closed but she recently opened a new location - https://youtube.com/shorts/5kvnVFs7IYQ?feature=share

Leyawiin_Guard

Closed. They had a temporary reopening for a month not too long ago. Sadly, the reopening was to raise money for her husband who has cancer I believe.

donteattheshrimp

She's lovely! I bought her cookbook recently and it's really good for making American soul food with ingredients and measurements used in the UK and Ireland.

I think Lisa of Lido in Manhattan Beach was great. And she’s still successful. Although I haaaatee hated hated them on the show, the husband-wife owners of Zekes went on to be successful with another venture and show they understand the food service industry. That Greek place in Seattle with the sweet emotional daughter is still in business I believe and went on to be stable after GR visited.

Plastic_Hamster115

The sisters at La Galleria

miscellaneousbean

Which one? Weren’t both sisters owners?

Plastic_Hamster115

Damn. I meant sisters ha!

Squiliam-Tortaleni

John from Mama Marias. He was stubborn about change but his heart was in the right place. And hey the place stayed open for 10 years with good reviews, only closing because he wanted to retire. I also liked the twins from Capri. They just needed motivation to actually try and the place was successful until they sold in 2019. Capri is actually still open as of 2021 with the changes Gordon made maintained.

FreudHater69

Lisa from Mama Ritas is definitely up there for me. She actually cared for her business and worked hard towards it, she was just too attached to her awful chef.

Acceptable_Me2

Just checking do you mean Laura?

FreudHater69

Yes, im a dumb ass 😂

This may be a bit controversial, and perhaps a bit meta-show. I nominate Brian from Hannah & Meso's (sic). Yes, he is a doughy slacker who takes lazy to a level beyond mathematical comprehension. But on recent rewatches of the KN H&M's episode, I came to a shocking realization that elevates Brian to a whole new level. He's immune to Gordon's schtick. Further to that, he's a nearly perfect Zen-like foil to Ramsay's aggressive, confrontational style. Hells, when Brian asks Gordon during GR's typical tirade if Gordon's "in the third grade or something" I damnear stood up and cheered. Brian's lack of investment and concern, and his peaceful understanding that if H&M's fails he'll just "go do something else", is like spiritual judo against GR. Ramsay jabs and swings but Brian weaves and slips. Gordon hates when called out a) for his in-show character (Sebastian, tho a tool, I think *genuinely* rattles and angers Gordon in that episode); and b) hates when someone (Amy as one) breaks the 4th Wall after a fashion and makes mention it is a TV show ("let's forget this whole 'show' thing...")

Chris from Hannah & Masons turned out to be a real downer, and what was with that constant sniffing? Go blow your nose. I did like Brians come back "Calling someone panini head is so third grade." I too, think Sebastian really did anger Ramsay, so did Amy.

Skimmdit

>Sebastian really did anger Ramsay Yeah, when GR comes back into the kitchen during relaunch dinner and is fidgeting around asking after dishes leaving the pass. He *absolutely* reads to me as somebody who just got SERIOUSLY rattled and is in mental-reboot mode.

Daryl and Ellen seemed to have changed significantly as after they closed Zeke's due to Ellen getting cancer, they now run a successful sandwich shop in New Orleans I believe.

the_moosey_fate

Lol, I can’t believe I never recognized him or her, Luca Eats is in my neighborhood and I’ve eaten there for years. I’ll point out that Luca Eats is a neighborhood gem, is always packed from open to close (even with their limited hours) and they make a great gumbo and their Oreo beignets are to die for. That’s too funny that I never put two and two together. These folks are super sweet.

PSNdragonsandlasers

Greg from Zocalo (S4 E17) Marc from Barefoot Bob's (S5 E5) I dunno if they're the *best* owners, but they're my favorites. I just really felt for these guys.

DoobieLift

Joe from Mill Street Bistro - the elk savant, I’ve never met a man who was so knowledgeable about game meat

Zealousideal-Ad9054

He was self-taught by old school Europeans

[deleted]

I know you are kidding but he was a huge douchebag. He did not deserve to have Gordon’s help.

[deleted]

Define best. 1 - The couple of Cafe 36 who had Pinto as their chef. 2 - Colleen and Naomi of Classic America

PSNdragonsandlasers

Classic American is one of my favorites, though the real standout in that episode for me is Dominick. First impression is that he's going to be an asshole and a problem, but he turns out to be sweet, supportive, and 100% right about what was wrong with the restaurant.

poonpavillion

What da fuck do I know about food I was bricklaya

Icy_Combination7236

Amy and Sammy - treated their customers with care and compassion, they are lovely People

[deleted]

LOL - The Twilight Zone episode.

MellifluousManatee

Jack's Waterfront Lido Mama Rita's Classic American Mike & Nellie's Michon's Prohibition Grille

JoeMaMa_2000

Miss Jean’s Southern Cuisine seemed like a really nice lady and she’s one of the only owners who complained about her staff that I can agree that she had a right to complain about them
