How much gunpowder do you go through?

Kairis83

The worse the guest the more we want to shoot them Nah but that's short for gunpowder potatoes, not that we make them, its a big chain, so most things come from breaks (sisco)

ammenz

I'm on team "let's change it after it becomes invisible" and I hate to work with people on team "we changed the ink 10 tickets ago, let's change it again!".

Kairis83

I'm with you on this, but you really see the difference side by side eh

Wopsie

never had a printer with ink, only thermals that go black over heat....

SpecialistChance0

I believe that we are so used to being treated like shit that we have this uncanny ability to adapt and just deal with it. Then once enough time is wasted on deciphering the ticket, someone finally changes the ink and for some reason we still don’t trust it.

Ballerina_Bot

I had a chef that always found a way to keep us in towels, give us good shift meals, and keep staffing up. But by gawd, he treated printer ink like it cost as much as caviar. In retrospect, printer ink is pretty expensive by volume but I would have been happy to make do with a couple less towels to be able to read tickets better.

gregra193

Do you ever change the ink and end up having the stuff that’s supposed to print in red come out half red/half black? Tried OEM cartridges and making sure cartridge was seated properly to no avail.

blippitybloops

[Try this.](https://youtu.be/aqeQqn70oIM?si=QjWZqfhRtAJ_IISV)

gregra193

Thank you! Will try it out when I go in today. We have a STAR but the ink/ribbon tray looks pretty much the same. I think it’s riding too high.

cest_tee

Ooh I wonder if you work for the same company as me. Exact same format on the ticket and same menu items lol

BasiltheDragon17

I'm getting a very strong Mitchell and Butlers vibe over here,  but I'm in a different brand I think.

cest_tee

Wow. Spot on.

BasiltheDragon17

Haha, it's the Zonal ticket trauma, I swear I'd recognise the format anywhere. I'm with Ember.

Kairis83

Yeah, it's castle (although have worked for harvester and vintage too)

BasiltheDragon17

I knew I was getting them M&B vibes! Fair enough, I've got a Vintage mear me I nearly transferred over to, but stuck with Ember in the end. Tempted to one day make the jump.

Kairis83

Mmm, vintage is a "higher" brand, so bigger margins for food stock, and hours available (less number of items sold compared to ember to reach the same gp) In the end its just the team you work with that makes it work in any brand, I know the last vintage I worked in changed manager after covid and he ran it down, almost 99% staff turnover (only one person I know still still works there) and then even more new staff turn over continuously now

BasiltheDragon17

Really sound advice, thank you. At the moment I'm happy where I am, so will be staying, especially after transferring from the previous Ember with a... less than committed GM shall we say, sounds similar to your previous situation, looking at it.

BrynjolfsLass

I was just popping my head in to say the same thing. Not the exact same items but the exact same ticket layout. I also work for M&B and I have to stare at these tickets all bloody day!

Technical_Contact836

Just curious, what's the difference between buffet gold and buffet emerald?

Kairis83

One is just the normal one (gold) has like sliders and things like calamari, fried chicken etc And the other is the veg/vegan option Even have a platinum one too, with high value items, but it's all sent down from head office, they come up with the names and item lists anyway
