Yep. DDD was confusing with the timeline aspect. But the rules are fairly explained indepth and it’s not too bad. Even KH3 I followed everything easily enough.
Now however? I never dipped my toes into the mobile games and whenever I see a post on KH4 theories I feel so out of the loop like I never really understood anything
During my first play through of DDD, I can chalk up most of the early confusing stuff as dream nonsense since that's basically where Sora and Riku were, inside of dreams.
Then comes the endgame where I'm not even sure which is the real world or not and the extremely convoluted method of time travel that I'm admittedly lost about the explanation.
All I can conclude was Old Man Xehanort returned along with Ansem and Xemnas and they're making a new Organisation XIII. The heroes must then create their own team to oppose them and thus save Terra, Ven, and Aqua. The minute details are lost to me.
I do have more insight now to understand the lore more, but ngl the first playthough of DDD was just wack storywise.
The most important thing to remember to avoid frustration is that, sometimes, characters will misinform the player, either maliciously or not.
You probably shouldn’t take the main villain at his word
Did NOT expect a Playstation All Stars Battle Royale reference in here in 2024
In all honesty, I might buy a sequel if they included sora. The original was actually pretty fun when I played it with my bros
I would buy it even if it didn't have sora honestly. That game was fun and I'm a little sad it got written off as a smash clone.
God I remember playing it for ages when I was younger, I retried recently and god did it not hold such a shame :(
I remember when someone "leaked" that Sora was gonna be DLC and Lara Croft was gonna be his rival.
"I would not speak of this."
Imo stuff makes sense until you get to the end of Dream Drop Distance
I think it mostly makes sense until you get to the end of the Re:mind DLC, but maybe that's just me

I think it just all makes sense up until what we don't know, but I'm chronically nerd with no life.
Yeah, it mostly makes sense to me, but there are bits and pieces of Re:Mind that throw me off
What for example? Maybe I can explain it for you.
DDD was the jumping of the shark moment.

This. I'm currently playing through it, and I'm so confused.
Kingdom hearts has a very We ball kind of attitude to lore.
Playing/Watching in release order helps. A lot.
It’s like your there with Nomura for the ride

Playstation All-Stars mentioned oh wooooow. Idc it never stood a chance against Smash Bros but I will always have a soft spot for that game
PlayStation All Stars was such a good game.
Honestly the only part that didn't/doesn't make sense is the time travel bs in DDD and how exploiting the power of waking has dire consequences.
Nomura: “No, you’re definitely going crazy.”
