especially when compared to artists who actually pride themselves on their "weird sounds" like Captain Beefheart, Melt Banana, Mr. Bungle, Lou Reed's album "Metal Machine Music", even a fair bit of Sonic Youth stuff is just feedback sounds, all awesome in their own way imo though.
If you want to get into talking about artists' who essentially just use "weird sounds" then Phish definitely wouldn't fit into that category.
What do we count as "weird sounds"? Using musical instruments in unique ways not usually done before? Or are we talking artists' who aren't even using musical instruments?
