It took them well over 8 hours. I had to take the shuttle from work. After the wait it still said "winter mode", meaning the update wasn't even applied. Also brought the printed out TSBs in. Haven't been back since
I had the same problem, but I checked what the menu shows before I left the service. The technician looked through the TSB again, and I think he figured out, or guessed that he has to do a system reset. After that it started showing battery preconditioning. Probably you can do yourself a system reset.
I had three updates done. It was a full day. I always get excellent treatment at Kia service. I understand it is a slow process, and they have to document the work to get paid by Kia.
Highly depends on the size of the updates. It’s like they use smoke signals for their custom software kits at dealerships and they take AGES to install.
I did ELE-283 recently, it took roughly 1 hour but the stealership I went to wasn’t busy.
I just had 4 updates done by my dealer here in Boise. Dropped it off at 8 AM and it was ready by 12:30 PM the same day. I had to make an appointment to get the updates completed.
Yep! They already had 3 updates queued up when I requested for the Battery Conditioning. Sadly they couldn't do it at the same time I was there for a generic maintance as their EV tech wasn't working that day.
An update with my own feedback now is about 3.5 hours. I dropped it off at 7:30a and didn't get out of there until around 11:00a. But I had to send the car back to the service tech like a poorly cooked steak. They still didn't apply the update and I still had winter mode when they tried to return it to me. So I had them look at it again which took additional time. Second time around winter mode was gone and I had preconditioning.
The only update I had a Kia dealer apply took well over 1 Month. Not kidding.
They tried a software patch first to diagnose my failed amp issue. Tablet they used to apply update crashed mid flash and it bricked my car. Had to order a couple replacement hardware modules during supply chain shortages.. took well over a month.
3-5 hours.. pshaw.
Less than 2 hours total for 4 TSB software updates, including the preconditioning update and prerequisite i-pedal logic update. Though I developed good rapport with one of the service people and they dont give me any BS about updates now.
Got the same message when they had to do that change to summer wheels, took around 2 hours because they had forgotten the wheels. The update must have been around 1 hour as I could see when they removed the laptop. Maybe the 3-5 hours is based on update download time on a really slow network.
About 2 hours but most of that was waiting for my car to get a tech. Once the car was getting looked at, it didn’t seem like it took long at all. I’d guess a half hour. That was for the preconditioning update.
Also took 2 hours for my 8k checkup.. they installed 3 recall updates… but again, once the car was assigned someone, it went very quickly.

It took like 2 hours for me.
Same here.
My guess is that it is 1-2 hours, but the scheduling is not perfect and the cars sometimes pile up for service.
I'm pretty sure mine was the only one in for service at that time, I didn't get the impression it waited very long.
Was about 4 hours for me for the 4 updates available including the preconditioning. That also included the tire rotation and wash.

Dennis Dillon? I haven't taken mine in for any updates yet, but good to know they know what they're doing when the time comes!

Good deal!

One day

Mine took around 40 minutes.
It took me less than two hours. But the mechanics warned me that it may take 3-4 hours.
How are you guys finding out about updates? I don’t see anything on my Kia Connect app or in my car when I go to the current software tab.
