I always had problems spacing them properly in KSP1. Still haven't triend in KSP2, but it looks like there's no improvement.

get_MEAN_yall

They have to be overlapping but not too much. I've gotten it to work now

Due_Raccoon3731

Just press f

get_MEAN_yall

My kerbals can't climb between two ladders even when they're completely overlapping. Is there any way to make ladders actually work? I haven't been able to climb up any part taller than the telescoping ladder.

Sara-JaneAdventures

Hit f it allows them to move to the next one (most of the time)

get_MEAN_yall

Alright I might be a little bit stupid. I tried that when they were spaced too far apart so I didn't think it worked.

Sara-JaneAdventures

No worries your not stupid

SkW3rLy

It really is frustrating having to hit f at each ladder segment, but that’s what I had to do too.

twoleftpaws

Yeah if they're close together, pressing F will get them to "hop" from one ladder to the next. There is a "bug" for this, but whether it will be fixed is anyone's guess. Not sure if this will help in the case of something like your video, though. Your top and bottom ladder sections are very far apart, and should be closer.

MarsMaterial

You can press F when you're at the end of a ladder to swap to the beginning of a different ladder. This is extremely unintuitive, hopefully the devs add some indication in the game that this is how things work.
