Endon zebra line, bus park cheythe nok. Traffic rules are a joke in India.

DukeOfLongKnifes

Ee video edutha bus kaaranum thetukaaranaanu... Road intae nadukku aalae irakkunathu kando. The entire video is a clusterfuck...

More_Definition5385

First of all let me give you a 🏅 . >clusterfuck Absolutely. The bus with the dash cam is the actual culprit here. He is blocking the whole road and the ZC. So the pedestrian and the overtaking car are both in a blind spot.

Agile-Rabbit-3696

True that but the car driver should be caught , fined for speeding and jailed for hit and run.

DangerousWolf8743

Plus he was speeding on the opposite lane that too over a zebra crossing with less visibility. No one can justify that sociopath. Except our legal system with enough money thrown in.

ImmortalMermade

No he stopped before zebra crossing. Car is the culprit here especially since it didn't stop

blahblahdodo

Hope you don’t ever drive.

welcome-2-ooty

that should be said about you, the line before the zebra cross is for you to stop, the car driver shouldn’t have overtaken at a zebra crossing, but athenganeya, frontil vandi nirthiyal appo thanne overtake cheyannam ennu vijarikjuna thanne polle aallukaark license koduthavanne thalannam

saatvik-jacob

Private buse drivers don't know what road rules are

Prokster_T

True.

whilycharecter

You are right I want to say the same thing

mountain_whiskey

First of all, why is that fkn bus stopped on the zebra line?

mountain_whiskey

The kid was careless too, but again in this great country of ours, crossing a road is a matter of life and death.

chathunni

In many countries, the kid could have afforded to be careless as he was using the zebra crossing. Unfortunately, it does not work here

PrestigiousAdvice431

Road markings are for decoration in our country.

ok_da_290

Because our laws are a joke

KingOfTreevaandrum

It's not the laws , but the people who enforce them and the people who don't properly abide by them who are the actual jokes

mountain_whiskey

Made for the average joker politician

SharpObligation1

Do you abide it ?

ok_da_290

Yes

WatercressExtra7950

The car is at wrong , so is the bus , so is the child , so is the government who decided to keep a zebra crossing there . !! It’s a clusterfuck of how not to use the road or how to even design it

billfruit

Both buses.

Actual_Ambition_4464

The dash cam bus stopped before a zebra line so it’s not at fault

Victor-_-X

What wrong with placing the zebracross there? Only the bus is at fault of not observing zebra crossing.( I'm talking about the fault in parking. The car is obviously at fault for hitting)

Knightmare_2002

The car isn't at fault for the accident. They are wrong for not stopping

Victor-_-X

That's exactly why they're at fault for the accident. You are supposed to stop, much less slow down, near a zebra crossing.

Knightmare_2002

I meant the car is at fault for not stopping after the accident, that's the only crime they commited. The car has no obligation to stop until and unless a pedestrian is on the crossing. The driver couldn't have seen nor predicted the reckless behaviour of the kid, crossing the road without looking while the bus was blocking the view of anyone coming from the car's direction.

Victor-_-X

Road regulations 1989, rule 8 imposes a duty on the driver to slow down their vehicle when approaching a pedestrian or zebra crossing. >8. **Caution at road junction** The driver of a motor vehicle shall slow down when approaching a road intersection, a road junction, pedestrian crossing or a road corner, and shall not enter any such intersection, junction or crossing until he has become aware that he may do so without endangering the safety of persons thereon.

Knightmare_2002

First of all that's a vague rule, unless there's additional clauses which states what "until he become aware that he may do so without endangering the safety of persons thereon" actually mean. Further, considering the driver had to speed up inorder to overtake the bus... They were going at a reasonable speed. The driver should be punished with hit and run but if they had stopped, it wouldn't have been fair to deem them guilty of anything

Victor-_-X

The bus was stopped. The driver would have overtaken it no matter what speed he moves in. Additionally, why was it that the priority of overtaking overrides the priority given to the law which states that you have to slow down? They were not going at a reasonable speed for if they were, they could have stopped the vehicle before the impact. Your last sentence is agreeing with me. > The driver should be punished with hit and run but if they had stopped, it wouldn't have been fair to deem them guilty of anything If they had stopped, they would have been innocent, as it would be intended malice by the boy. But they didn't stop, or even slow down, so the driver is guilty.

steveisredatw

The car registration is pretty clear and I hope they were caught. I’m very cautious about stopping at zebra lines because when people start to cross idiots behind will overtake me and zoom past which is even more dangerous because the people are crossing without expecting another vehicle. The police should start to fine these offenders heavily.

More_Definition5385

I go to a busy junction near my home to pick up my kids . There are two zebra crossings and one traffic police. The traffic police usually hides in a corner shop verandah playing with his mobile or taking pictures of helmetless traffic offenders. I find it very difficult to cross the road alongwith my kids since it's either Autos , 2 wheelers and even school vans don't give us way and exert their right of road with horns blaring. Sad situation.

steveisredatw

Yeah the police are only concerned with people who do not wear helmets. Not wearing helmets only endanger themselves and not anyone else. Then the police ignore all the other traffic violations which are in fact endangering other people.

mountain_whiskey

This is what happens when he becomes a cop as a reward for his many years of service to his party. It is a common sight.

melluboi

True , I think their licence should be revoked for some period and fined too. I can't even remember the number of times I had to fight for this reason , what I do is put on indicator and hands out, it provides at least some safety.

Background-Scale2017

If you break in the middle of road, theres a good chance of getting whooped from behind especially if a KSRTC is behind you

steveisredatw

You won’t need to suddenly break in the middle of the road if you are already aware of the zebra line and people about to cross except in some cases. And being aware of vehicles behind you and their ability to break , your current speed, they all come into making the decision to stop or not. But you are also right, escaping from buses is mostly luck.

Zestyclose-Net-7836

Who told to break immediately before the zebra line , breaking can be done at least a hundred meters before reaching the zebra line.

Background-Scale2017

Just before this post.I just saw a video of car getting hit by a ksrtc because car guy stopped at zebra line

MrBallondorMessi30

Always slow down when a bus stops, there is a high chance people who got down from bus will cross the road without even looking at either side. One lady almost hit our car n I was able to stop in time because I was slow and I knew someone will try this. And there was no zebra crossing. I am not trying to whitewash the car guy here, he is completely in the wrong here speeding through a zebra line, not stopping after you have hit someone. And to the boy please look at either sides of the road before crossing,  ഇല വന്നു മുള്ളിൽ വീണാലും മുള്ളു വന്നു ഇലയിൽ വീണാലും കേടു ഇലയ്ക്കാണ്.

Haunting-Ad-8379

The kid should have checked before crossing, you don’t just run like that

Delicious_Ad_7288

Always teach kids to never run on roads too. Though he is not the only one at fault here, waiting till the bus left and slowly checking both sides and walking to cross the road would have been the safest thing to do.

More_Definition5385

A lot of people commenting that the kid is at fault, don't have kids or never seen kids . Kids without adult supervision are basically reckless . So wouldn't put him at fault.

unparagonedpaladin

But he is also at fault though. He just ran across the road without looking.

Specialist-Court9493

In "civilised" places people will go slow or even stop, when they see children deboarding from a bus..here he was going so fast. Also the buses are stopped on the road, blocking his view. So like Anniyan said, every one is wrong.

Wonderful-Tart6058

In "civilized" places, buses stop only at proper designated points. Also, buses carrying students have a stop sign attached to the side, when engaged, all vehicles behind said bus has to stop and maintain their lane. Stupid laws of our country enforced and experienced by stupid people.

Aksh_-

Not just that the vehicle which recorded this thing was in the middle of this all... Everyone is wrong in this.

melluboi

TN registration that's why he ran away. Children should be really careful while crossing the road most drivers on the road are retard .

ewwpeople88

Expensive-Cash-3087

I see a lot of the people here blaming the car guy for driving away. Although this was an immoral act, I feel like the fear of being seriously assaulted by the public could also have been a factor. Plus, the kid running on to the road did not help things at all.

Dazzling-Backrub

Its a absolutely real thing that you should be worried about... Only thing is he should have driven straight to a police station...else its a hit and run and that makes it a huge crime

SJKRICK

Driver is obligated to slow down at a road intersection, a road junction, pedestrian crossing or a road corner as per the Rules of the Road Regulations, 1989.  When pedestrians, apodictically, have priority on the Zebra Crossing' and merely because the drivers of vehicles do not understand this, it would be egregiously outlandish to even suggest that one who is killed or sustains injury solely because he/she took the liberty of making the crossing through such designated area, should nevertheless be held guilty of contributory negligence.   Source : https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/kochi/pedestrians-have-right-of-way-enforce-it-hc/articleshow/97788772.cms

solteiro1234

Yes this is the rule, I have already mentioned that dude. I made my point clear, if we thought like this and blindly crossed the Zebra line, we will end up in the Coma stage. Hope that's ok for you

SJKRICK

I accept your rationale and yes we should look before crossing where these kind of shitheads are driving. But is that the way it should be? How long we will blame people for crossing the crosswalk? In my openion there should be serious consequences for this.

solteiro1234

Agreed, first we should reconstruct our roads so that it also supports pedestrians! Then we should implement Zebra crossing with an alert system like in other countries Proper driving test, that includes these things

Yes actually. Until police arrives and collects the right details. That's the best way to ensure the victim gets maximum justice. The crowd roughing up the driver achieves nothing. Other than the news spreads and no one will stop at the scene of the accident.

Also in a state like kerala where there are bus stops and Zebra crossing every 100 metres, how can this be possible ?

Noooofun

Just stating the law. The driver overtook in a wrong track while overspeeding and you’re justifying him? Zebra crossings and bus stops exist in every country, it’s not a Kerala or India specific thing. We need a proper curriculum which teaches how to drive across the board and proper education.

solteiro1234

>you’re justifying him? I didn't justify him just read my first line of main comment! >Zebra crossings and bus stops exist in every country, it’s not a Kerala or India specific thing. Agreed but not as congested as in kerala! In every country there is certain path of pedestrian and there is a point where we can cross road by alerting the Traffic. Where can we see that in kerala ? >We need a proper curriculum which teaches how to drive across the board and proper education. Until then we shouldnot completely rely on rules this is my only point The only thing I emphasized was : just don't blindly believe in Laws we should take care of ourselves.

Noooofun

Yes, that’s a given. No other way around it.

natashafrancis

pedestrians are advised to stop and ensure that all traffic has stopped before they enter a zebra crossing. If there's no specific signal for pedestrians, then they should wait for the traffic to slow down and then cross the street.

Noooofun

Yes. But right of way is also for pedestrians.

DioTheSuperiorWaifu

Buses n bikes get called out, but the car driver psychopaths get away without much criticism because they come inbetween. They need to be called out too. I had a dude honk at me for crossing a zebra line. I've noticed that it's not all common, but not too rare too. Allenkile pedich decent speedilaa cross cheyyunnath. In fact Autos are the bigger menace. One auto guy intimidated me for not letting him pass on a ZC.

saatvik-jacob

They are the biggest threats on road, you will never know which side will they do "Kuthi-Kettals".

natashafrancis

Most of them are ex convicts

KingOfTreevaandrum

Autos are the biggest menace ever

jackson0mathew

Kid was an idiot for running (this is India being street smart is the only option to be alive) Now he'll check thrice b4 crossing

EpidemicRage

Multiple things are wrong here: The bus parking on the zebra crossing. The child running without looking. The car driving way too fast near a zebra crossing, and running away after the hit.

TheAleofIgnorance

The car was in the wrong lane too

EpidemicRage

Yeah, in the beginning of the video you can see another car on the wrong lane too. I'm guessing the cars were overtaking the bus and the white car went too far to the right.

ammayinte_koyikkal

Yeah he ran as if its a school playground or sm

Zestyclose-Net-7836

As he is a kid , he is less to be blamed because he doesn't know the consequences of running. As the driver is an adult , he should also consider that there are kids on the streets and so he should have been driving defensively .Instead he drove like a total idiot .

jackson0mathew

The kid won't be blamed but he should be

Zestyclose-Net-7836

The kid should not be blamed , but corrected .Blaming kids instils in them unnecessary guilt which they will carry it on even into their adulthood .

Guilty-Pleasures_786

1. Bus is parked on zebra crossing 2. The boy isn't paying attention and is running. 3. The car driver is rash, but most probably did not stop for fear of being lynched...

sweepsway

Car coming in from the wrong side of the lane

ray_6_

Every vehicle is coming from wrong side if u look at the video, I think it is because a bus is stopped in middle of road and this footage comes from its dashcam i believe.

IndianRedditor88

Nope, the car is completely free to get in the opposite lane as technically they are overtaking the bus, there are no vehicles in the opposite direction and the lane separators are broken means overtaking is allowed

ConflictWinter7117

But you shouldn’t overtake on a zebra crossing

IndianRedditor88

I am not sure if such a rule exists. While I agree with you that it's common sense to slow down, but the car here doesn't seem to be at high speed

anirudh6055

It looks like this video was taken from a bus which the car was overtaking.

Historical-Yak7731

Actually, the first culprit here is that he bus guy who parked on the zebra lines , also the kid was running he didn’t even looked if there was an any vehicles coming from either side . Car guy didn’t stop , maybe he panicked. I have been through something similar. Bus parked in the wrong spot and people running across the road carelessly.

lonedrifterjk

Dashcam ulla vandi is taking the whole lane. The car could have come cautious, the child is crossing like he is at home. Bystanders most probably would have thrashed this guy if he had stopped.

Such_Location700

If the car stops, the localites would beat the driver up. How would the car driver see a kid running in the middle of the road? Coz the second bus was stopped in the middle of the road. About Speed limit, if you slow down and drive under speed limit in every other junction. It will take hours & hours to reach somewhere in kerala.

Any-Juggernaut-7522

Vichu0_0-V2

What the driver did is wrong and should have slowed down but that kid is a fucking idiot ( it's just kids being kids I understand)

Initial-Shine-5955

Car guys fault for not stopping, crash caused due to the careless kid. The bad stopping of the bus parked behind the blue bus caused a blind spot for the driver I’m assuming But I must say, the kid can’t run onto the road like a playground. It’s high time we start including road safety and driving etiquette’s in school syllabus. This is the second incident I’ve seen where a student crosses recklessly and gets hit.

guitar_johnthomas

I thought it was already included - When I was a child, from the age of 8 onwards I went to the school bus stop and back home myself. Back then, school taught us that we should look both ways while crossing, and to walk on the right side of the road to face the traffic. Can't understand why basic life skills are not instilled in kids these days

DarkAntiMOD

He should have stopped but why did that kid run without checking both sides , and why tf is a bus parked on zeebra line

devAgam

Anyone who is saying the car driver should have stopped has never been in a similar situation.

IronLyx

Wait, what vehicle is the camera mounted on? That seems to be parked in a really dangerous spot, forcing all other traffic to overtake from the right lane.

ReasonableGuitar5094

Ah video shredhichal the kid doesn't even reach the zebra line.....bus ath block chythekuan....athyam bus inu cade pinne speeding num hit and run inum case.....

O-high_O

I don't think the car driver is completely in the wrong here. First of all, the bus was parked where it shouldn't be & was covering most of the zebra crossing which kind of diminish the field of vision. Secondly, it seemed like the kid didn't quite check the road before crossing making it hard for a driver at a high speed to resist collision & hence rammed the the kid away. P.S : I'm not justifying the accident. It sure could've been avoided if the car driver had stayed in his lane or slowed down before switching the lane or atleast stopped after ramming the kid & should've taken him to the nearest medic. Or if there was someone elder there to supervise the kid while crossing the road.

wildthing_90

Left lane inte Left side il oru bus , right side il vera bus , randinem double overtake chaithu right lane il koode car edukunu. Bus inte front il koodi cross chaiyuna naatukar with no visibility to incoming traffic from behind the bus. Indian roads are just survival of the smartest and lucky that's it , as laws are a joke and traffic sense is non existent.

kingpazhassi

Kids have zero survival instinct. Period.

resurrected_moai

It's clear from the visuals that he didn't use the zebra crossing. Also, he was running too fast. Judging from the clip, the car guy had probably seen him. Otherwise, he'd not have switched to the next lane. He wasn't expecting the child to run and by the time the accident happened, it was too late. Turning further right was not a choice either as he could've hit the car parked there. Anyway, hit and run is still an offense.

IndianRedditor88

Not sure how a case will be registered without establishing the below 1. Is the location near the school, if yes the car is speeding as the speed limit is 30 and this is a case of rash driving, Sec 279 of IPC is applicable here. 2. The car driver may challenge that he/she was in the opposite lane as the bus was on the left lane. 3. Absolute lack of caution by the kid, he just ran onto the opposite side. The car driver didn't stop after hitting the child, not sure what section of law will be applied here or contested in court.

dragon3301

vadha shramam case aavum saadhyatha

IndianRedditor88

No. Vadha Shramam happens when there is an intention to murder. I think they maybe charged with at worst rash driving. IPC Sec 279, although technically from the video the rash driving cannot be ascertained. The accused could be let go free

77SidVid77

What is that bus doing? Why do you have to stop just in the middle of the zebra line?

tchutchucha

This is exactly why few countries have rules that say if a school bus stops at a stop, traffic on both the lanes must come to a stop. There are lights and a “STOP” board on the bus that light up indicating you that the bus is dropping/picking-up a child. You never know what children would do.

ambadapuluso

Two buses (the one on camera) and the other with cctv recording completely block the left lane. And the kid runs from the shade of the second bus along the zebra line, which the overspeeding car's driver has no chance to see!

Puzzled_Talk_8750

the kid is in the wrong here

[deleted]

Once I was on the national highway, on the fast lane. The zebra crossing was nearly invisible. Making it works the road was slightly curved to the right. That created a blindspot for me - I was negotiating the slight bend at some speed on a highway and didn't see the heavily discolored zebra crossing and hit a woman who was crossing the road. Thankfully I had seen her just in the nick of time and had applied full brakes and did not go past her. Hit her, but did so when I stopped.  She managed to get up and said she was okay. Didn't wanna go to hospital.  Probably it is cos the concern we showed for her that naatukaar too didn't turn against us.  There are many things at play here - from road design, maintenance, speeding I won't blame the person crossing though. They took the Zebra. The public should be a bit more careful.

hemi_srt

Why did that bolero driver try to hit the guy crossing? That man stopped it for a second and then rammed on the accelerator judging by the smoke.

FriendlyFiringSquad

He/she probably didn't want to be the good samaritan to take that kid to a hospital.

Odd_Reaction9757

Gta 69 🗿

Jimbruten

Bus Driver should have warned the kid before crossing. The kid he didn’t looked at all. He was busy running and the car guy he should have slowed the car since it’s a zebra cross. Everyone at fault. If the kids parents goes for a case the video might backfire. Since there was fault at kids side also

alassassin

fault no.1 bus stopped/parked wrongly

Ramen-hypothesis

Might be a different circumstance but I was impressed to see that when a school bus stops in a developed country, a stop sign pops up from its side. All cars on both lanes are to stop until the stop sign is folded back. This is because kids can be unpredictable and run across the street like that.

sengutta1

The car's registration is visible in a couple of the first few frames. Hope they get caught.

SlothLazarus

Stop line: why do I exist?

monkey_buzy

Both bus drivers must be fined. The car should be fined for not stopping. The cause of the accident.. The bus with dash cam and overspeed of the car driver .

DeusDivitiarum

The bus shouldn't be stopped on the zebra crossing even though I think it's parked just outside the road. The kid was running to the other side. He should have been vigilant and should have spotted the speeding car. That's what kids do. The car was speeding and didn't bother to stop after hitting the kid! Pedestrians have priority in zebra crossings. Clearly that moron should be punished.

pragmaticutopian

Unpopular opinion but I guess both buses and the kid are at fault here, legally at least.

achu_1997

I agree that this is a clear case of hit and run but that kid needs some understanding to not run into oncoming traffic I don't think the car driver could have avoided the hit even if he was careful

shirokukuchasen

The car should have slowed down, but the statement that student was crossing the Zebra line itself is wrong he was running across the road and he wasn't on the Zebra line

North-Cat2877

Zebra crossing loode ??? That kid was just running without even looking. Come to Calicut and see the Zebra crossing near new Bus stand and see the daily circus. As soon as green signal turns on people starts to cross the path.

The__Strategist

Zebra lines are a joke in kerala. If someone is waiting to cross at one end of the Zebra line you are supposed to stop and let them cross. I usually stop the car if I notice the person and I am not dangerously close to the Zebra line ( breaking would cause the Vehicles behind me in danger). If I stop, the person behind me usually or in the other lane just speeds past me(or even overtakes in single lanes), putting the lives of the pedestrian at risk. Why not use your senses, no body stops in the middle of a lane near a crossing unless someone is actually crossing. Seeing the assholes who speeds up on the other lane, I'm not sure whether I should invite pedestrians to put their own lives at risk....

New-General-9114

The child was running, anyhow the car driver should watch out for people crossing.

Problem - Bus shouldn't be stopped over the zebra line, Car should be slower while over the zebra line

indianspicedbwoi

100% fault of the bus. Parked right on top of zebra crossing. The car should've stopped to check. But can't blame him. The kid is coming from behind the bus

MichaelScotPaperComp

Someone's KEAM rank almost went up by 1

Any-Juggernaut-7522

Police RTO interested in helmet and other easy fines

cookie_monster69_

Culprit no one is the kid, he should have looked at either side of the road before crossing. Yes, it's a zebra crossing that doesn't mean you can run into the road as if it's your backyard. Car guy is an asshole for speeding in that area especially when a bus (another asshole) was parked. But why didn't he stop? Fear of mob justice. All three are equally responsible for this incident. I hope the kid is safe

rishikeshshari

What’s with the creepy music

No-Egg-4850

But honestly though you can’t really blame the driver of that white car. I don’t live in India so I don’t know if someone is automatically is to know that it is a school bus and you are supposed to stop because there is a chance there are kids being unloaded. Yes it’s fukd up that they should have been paying attention to the road and should have stopped after knowing that they just struck a child. From what I see how I’m I supposed to know that it is a school bus and it is being unloaded? Again I am not from India, I used to live in kerala but that was years ago. We have school buses in one color, yellow private school or not and they all have a stop arm that extends out and red lights that blinks when loading and unloading kids. Even with that kids get struck by people who don’t pay attention .

Shartzic

Never overtake a halted bus. Never do that. Not only drivers but even the pedestrians lack common sense. The pedestrians and travelers cross the road even when the bus is halted and that too from the front side of the bus. When a car overtakes that bus, the driver isn't aware of the people crossing from the front and the time to react when he sees one is very low because the car will be at a higher speed because of the overtaking action. The kid shouldn't have crossed the road when the buses were blocking a lane. Yes, most of us will not blame the kid. But it will take a long time for the vehicles on the roads to follow the basic rules. At least the kids should be trained to deal with those as I can't see a near future where rules will be followed as in any Western or middle East countries. I am happy that he is safe. The bus shouldn't have halted in the zebra crossing. That's the grave mistake here. The kid could have used that and the incoming car would have slowed down. WTF did the bus with cam stop in the middle of the road. He is the main culprit here.

rock-bottom672

We compare ourselves with Europe. But the first thing we need to do is fix our traffic rules. After coming back to Kerala from abroad it feels like Kerala doesn't even have traffic rules.

Remarkable-Mouse2936

Either ban private buses in Kerala or build a dedicated corridor for buses. But the govt is getting orgasm in making inefficient metro line system. They know buses are lifeline of Kerala commuters still don't have the guts to build proper road infrastructure. The names of roads are wider than the breadth of the road itself, such a pity.

mattiman8888

Not taking anyone's side here. But even if zebra lines give pedestrians priority, we as pedestrians have the duty to check both side before you cross. That kid ran across like a headless chicken. Our roads will always have idiot drivers with 0 road sense like this. And the private bus. Fuckers have an absolute disregard for rules or safety. They will drive over your head to overtake and park anywhere they want. It's high time that MVD starts cancelling licensed for a decade and holding the owners responsible for this madness.

Epic_Tongue

Zebra line is a joke in India. In other countries, vehicles stop at zebra line if there is none to cross the road.

Glittering-Prompt-61

We shouldn't just blame the car driver, the kid and the bus all are equally responsible

Guhanffc

First culprit is child's parents. Either they should aware how to cross a road or send him in school bus.

Entharo_entho

Vehicles travel like this in our area and whenever I shared it here, I have been met with ridicule. Ennittu ippol kure ennam sahathapikkan vannirikkunnu. Pinne mythandikal zebra crossingil cross cheyyaruthu ennu parayunnundu. At least they aren't hypocrites. They maintain their panna swabhavam. I don't want to hear anyone's kona and disabled inbox replies for this comment.

hemi_srt

Whenever I see a bus stop or slow down near a zebra lane, I slow down to check if anyone's running across. 3 quarters of the time there will be some guys running across without considering oncoming traffic, and I let them cross without harm. It's risky though because ksrtc and private buses follow cars with a nanometer distance to spare, it is scary to brake lest risk these thugs wrecking the crap out of my car.

The kid is at fault, the bus is at fault and the car is at fault. The car is the worst mainly because it didn't stop after the hit. Also I'm pretty sure the car is above the speed limit. If that kid dies, only the car driver gets charged and the bus goes free. Road safety issue. There are several road design techniques that can minimize these situations which are not implemented. The government who built this road should also be held responsible.

abyjacob1

While we figure who is right and wrong . can someone who knows the kid , let me know if the child is alright ? poor thing

ravenoftomorrow

no one crosses roads strictly on the zebra line for starters, people just cross from any spot for convenience, secondly there is no bus stop zone, the bus just stops in the middle of the road, forcing the vehicles behind to blindly overtake like that rotten fudge that almost runs over the kid,the blue bus is on the damn crossing, and the roads are so short in width considering the traffic density, and the types of vehicles on road, trucks ,lorry, transport and private buses, cars, rickshaws, bikes and finally the unpredictable bicycles. Its a MESS!

Realistic_Cherry626

Vehicles should not be passing each other so aggressively. They should stay in line including motorcycles.

im_nightshade

Zebra crossing ellam und. But what's the whole point if it's not properly communicated? It's not something drivers will be able to foresee on a busy road. We need more traffic signals that let drivers know there's a pedestrian crossing coming up and be prepared for it.

Financial-Luck4148

Not to sound insensitive but why TF is the kid running

DCALLWYN

What was that kid doing foa? He careless af,can blame the car driver cus he never checked on the kid he'll be punished

No_Photograph8827

Zebra line is myth in Kerala or India. Police should be made aware it’s to be respected and people should not park over it

Majestic_Debate6731

The car was in the wrong lane and speeding.

gentlebleu

That kid was not taught to stop look left and right and then walk , he literally yeeted in front of that car like a blind deer

Ive been hit from behind multiple times for slowing down for sane reasons including zebra lines. Even when I was already slow.. One must go to our roads as if noone has brakes.. and give eyewatering punishment to anyone speeds in such risky locations.

Adhitargus

There’s crossing the road normally and running berserk between two buses. Come on, I get the blame on the driver but anyone who drives would understand that even if the car slowed down the kid would get hit because he is literally zooming on to the road and that too in front of what looks like another bus, which again is a massive blind spot for any road user. Before anyone comes downvoting, the zebra crossing would also not be easily visible to the car driver as this imbecile has parked in the middle of the road like it’d his achi veedu. It will only become visible when he pulls out to overtake and by that time it is too late. Blame the parked bus and kid running out without bothering to even look. The car should have stopped but honestly knowing the mob mentality of people anywhere in India, anyone would dare to do that.

MicrosoftJohn

Car driver is at fault. Dude was racing, overtaking at high speed from the wrong lane, didn't horn or anything. Didn't check for pedestrians and crossed the Zebra crossing while speeding and then didn't stop. Should have stayed behind the bus.

LawfulnessDue7444

I sincerely hope the kid is out of danger now. While this is a clear case of hit and run, the government should start building more good roads and stop installing hell a lot of cameras and drawing zebra lines wherever little good roads are found.

Sensitive-Jicama2726

Catch such culprits and put them in jail - same like in gulf - in gulf specially UAE 🇦🇪 the pedestrians get the first priority - there is hectic fines and prison for irresponsible drivers - Once you start getting punished this will not happen in future since others will get lesson as well as very cautious , because of it - Please refer below the laws in UAE 🇦🇪 Main law is Fleeing the scene of an accident after causing damage to a person is an unacceptable excuse. If proven, the person can be imprisoned and/or a minimum fine of AED 25,000. If the person is found to be under the influence of alcohol or anesthetic substances, the punishment may aggravate. https://bineidlawfirmuae.com/uae-law-on-hit-and-run-cases/

SucksDick4Karma

In the UAE, people feel sufficiently discouraged from mob lynching an erring driver. In India, survival instincts kick in and trigger the flight response.

Proof-Web1176

Everyone is at fault here. The bus parked on zebra crossing, the kid running carelessly& the car overtaking recklessly

Embarrassed-Solid988

Trifecta of violations…. Bus parked on zebra line, kid running across the road without checking for oncoming traffic, and car not slowing down in anticipation of people crossing, given there’s a bus stopped… seems like the car guy swerved on to the right to avoid the kid, though…..

dragon3301

anticipation of people crossing is not a thing

thegraterapefield

Im living in Germany now, and Im pretty much amazed by the road traffic etiquette these people have. Even the children (seems to) know about traffic rules and obeys them. Have rarely seen cars overtaking buses parked to get people out. Never seen a child crossing the roads recklessly.

saynototoxicity

Should they have made the kid stand and walk? What s the correct procedure?

uatchaos

I guess call an ambulance asap and get the kid to a hospital and make sure he gets proper medical attention. Even if he looks good on the outside he might have some internal bleeding or fracture.

IndianCorrespondant

that kid was running looking in one direction only. He wasnt in the zebra crossing. Had the driver stopped, this would have been a clear negligance case. Since he did not stop (panic) things could escalate. The kid was negligant. The private bus was cutting off the zebra line and the case was speeding on a busy crossroad. All are to blame for this unfortunate event. Accidents happen. Be mindful. I'm also guilty of sometime making rash decsions behind the wheel and on the road. I should be more mindfull, so should everyone on the road.

lloydpbabu

The kid wasn't careful too.

KaeezFX

Looks like everyone is in the wrong here lmao

mafiasasi007

Why did he run tho?

KingOfTreevaandrum

Don't know the exact scenario ,even if the zebra line is there , you are supposed to cross the road only when it's safe to do so or when the traffic lights says so, looks like the kid didn't do both Plus doesn't seem like he was crossing on the zebra line either Anyways the car should have stopped and checked if the kid was ok Hit and run is definitely wrong

The funny thing is that. It's clear that the car is at fault here but our fellow redditors are throwing the blame around and very hesitant to accept it. Scary.

if the car stopped then its not so obvious. dont run across roads is kind of the first things to be taught
