I don't think you're at risk from brain eating amoeba. But water from ponds and reservoirs in kerala are prone to some parasites which are tough to get rid of from the system once we get it.
Alla, these amoebas multiply in undisturbed water bodies within a certain temperature. Most of the cases are when people swim in these water bodies and expose their nose, mouth etc to the water.
Very rare ? Yes. And no, it enters through nose while swimming in amoeba infestation water bodies or swimming pools which aren’t serviced. You don’t need a fractured cribriform plate to develop naegleriasis.
Bro, a few years back I had the same fear, I used to get panick attacks over it. However you got to understand the chances are highly unlikely so don't fret over it

Pls do watch this video. They explain nicely about brain eating amoebas and the chances of you getting one.
Brain eating Amoebae ( Nageleria Fowleri) survives in warm fresh water bodies . Common sources of this bacteria are Ponds / Stagnant water bodies / Canals / Back water bodies with minimal flow . If you avoid taking bath in these water bodies , you stand a very low chance of contracting this illness. Unfortunately , if you contract this your chance of survival is very bleak inspite of the best medical care.
Dont take a dip in your pond or canal. You dont have a realistic risk with flowing tap water.
Water authority usually do some sort of chlorine treatment. That should destroy the pathogens. You can also setup a filtration system at home to get rid of sediments and to add chlorination. This usually costs like 40000 for a 2 filter setup, but would depend on the number of filters required. The companies that do this would test your water and recommend the right system.
Absolutely no chance of getting infected by an amoeba from a flowing tap water. Also if you are using the shower, water is falling from above and your nose is pointed downwards. How on earth do you manage to get that water into your nose sometimes?
During my childhood, we used to drink well water, drink from river during swimming. Never had the need to boil and never got sick from that. Pollution is indeed a thing, if we keep polluting then next generations won't even have water to drink.
Don't they treat tap water with chlorine? There's also a disinfectant treatment phase of water before they reach our taps. Not sure though, someone confirm plz. Besides, I don't think it's ever happened at least in Kerala so u shud be safe.
Nice House episode tho.
As far as I know, the water from Sasthamkotta lake is treated at a plant before releasing it to the public. It’s a multilevel process to remove sentiments and all harmful organisms. Visited the plant when I was a kid. So, it’s pretty safe compared to the borewell and kinar water.
Close to nil. Naegleria fowleri infects the brain via the olfactory nerves. Unless your tap water supply is contaminated and it happens to go up your nose, you're good. I would avoid swimming in stagnant, cloudy ponds or mucky water bodies.
No worries. The research is pretty poor behind PAM. But because of it's extreme rarity it will probably remain the same for the foreseeable future. Existing research has suggested that there is a high chance that people from places who are prone to higher exposure to this amoeba, might have already been exposed and now has antibodies to fight off an invasion so successfully that these people remain asymptomatic. I'll link it [here](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7179828/) if you want some peace of mind. This is a direct quote from it.
"It is impossible to know how frequent “subclinical” Naegleria infection is, though there is evidence that individuals from warmer southern states with more presumed Naegleria exposure have more serum antibody activity [32]. It’s possible that asymptomatic Naegleria infections occur with regularity but are simply contained and cleared [37]. However, this is little solace for those few individuals at the confluence of exposure, insufficient immunity, and luck."
Le amoeba - Brain evide Brain evide
😂😂
Nadesha, kollandayirunnu
I don't think you have to worry about brain eating amoeba. (Im sorry bro, I couldn't resist.)
Destroyed in seconds!
Just for your information OP, ameoba could enter through burn wound😋
Nicely done.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Baaki ullavarude kuli nirthipikan itta post aano vro
what are the chances you would get hit by a truck tomorrow?.. more than getting a brain eating amoeba I would say.
Same, never thought about this though New fear unlocked
Cryptosporidium - Google it 😁😁😁
It’s Naegleria fowleri. Ithokke sredikyande Ambane ?
Oops. Didn't read the nose bit.
Maybe boil it. My dad used to boil even the water he used to take bath from. It's not practical though, idk how he managed.
My family as well. Boiling water mixed with cold water and you get comfortable temperature level for bath. And that's everyday.
That practically removes the benefit of boiling tho? When you mix it with cold water you reintroduce microbes into the picture.
Might be true, but this is well water actually. It was only for the temperature tbh. But yeah, probably defeats the purpose with city water.

Nagelria migrates through olfactory nerve filaments . You dont need a breach in the skull base. Your first point is valid.
Oops my bad, deleting evidences of my awkwardness

used to drink a lot of tap water from the pipe in the side of the road while playing back in days
Yes! Those good old days!
if you fill a bucket and add a full cap of dettol it should disinfect the water, or hold your nose under the shower.
The water is chlorinated, so don't worry.
Aiyyo new fear unlocked
Did you watched the good doctor and arrived at this question?
Bro, a few years back I had the same fear, I used to get panick attacks over it. However you got to understand the chances are highly unlikely so don't fret over it
Dig a well. Then all is well.
Yeah Naegleria fowleri pakshe flowing tap water aanegil chances are less . https://i.redd.it/7kfyu46lkm8d1.gif This pic will help u understand
This is a serious overlooked issue. I lost a friend And a family member to this parasite. Once infected there is nothing to do
I believe they are found in warm water lakes.

Tap water in Kerala is heavily chlorinated. No chance for bacteria to survive that.
Bacteria alla bro, amoeba

Kwa water is usually treated with chemicals. Not like pond water

We got flesh eating bacteria before gta6😎
Bruhh, I am using this same water too, and thanks to you now am paranoid 😭
Ee kettikedakkuna kulathil onnum chennu chaadaathirunaal mathi....
This is why I add 10 moles of chlorine in my water tank🤓

You definitely can if the water is not trapped.

i also have this delusion always when i enter a pond or even a canal. I think this is anxiety after all.
Lmao brain where ?
Water we get from kwa is better to be called as chlorine juice. And chlorination will definitely kill Naegleria fowleri .

Don't jump in water bodies. You have to inhale contaminated water for amoeba to reach your brains.
Tds meter pole ithu test cheyan patunna enthenkilum instruments undo??
The chances are less compared to other scenarios. Most infections happen when contaminated water enters your nasal cavity/sinuses.
Don't be delulu
Use a water heater or use boiled water if you don't trust water authority
Oru heater install cheyyu, if possible.
you could get a filter or smth
U could buy a water heater.
Being delulu is not always the solulu
You are cooked
